SURVIVAL SKILLS FOR LEADERS MOTIVATING AND EMPOWERING PERSONNEL

Show respect for your staff.

Don’t ride your people.

Get instructions right the first time.

Reward improvement as well as success.

Create a safe environment.

Don’t criticize failure, teach improvement.

Be consistent.

Role model what you want them to do/be.

nstill sense of mission and their significant part in it.

Help them to improve personally as well as professionally.

Your Staff Will Treat The Customer Only As Good As He Believes He Is Treated By You!

SURVIVAL SKILLS

PROVEN PRACTICES FOR GETTING THINGS DONE

What gets talked about gets done.

What gets trained for gets done.

What gets measured gets done.

What gets budgeted gets done.

What gets applauded gets done.

What gets rewarded gets done.

EMPOWERMENT

Demonstrate Trust and Respect

Allow them to influence you

Provide decision-making opportunities

Instruct on What & Why

Place them at center of crisis

Make them visible

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Below is a wonderful poem Audrey Hepburn wrote when asked to share her 'beauty tips.'

Blessed are they…

Blessed are they who understand My faltering step and shaking hand.

Blessed are they who know my ears today Must strain to hear the things they say.

Blessed are they who seem to know My eyes are dim and my answers slow.

Blessed are they who look away When my tea was spilled at the table today.

Blessed are they who with a cheery smile Will stop to chat for a little while.

Blessed are they who never say “You’ve told that story twice today.”

Blessed are they who know my ways And bring back memories of yesterdays.

Blessed are they who ease the days And care for me in loving ways.

Blessed are they who make it known I’m loved, respected and not alone.
