Freely Give

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. Have you ever been charged for something that was supposed to be free? I remember my brother doing that when we were little. My dad would buy a churro and divide it among the kids, then my brother would say that if I wanted my piece I had to pay him 1 peso. He still laughs about it now. In Matthew, Jesus is sending the apostles on a mission. To assist them in the mission, he gives them authority to heal the sick, raise the dead, clean lepers and cast out demons. Jesus tells them one more thing. These things you have freely received, give them freely to others. The apostles now have the power to do all these things. They have no reason to hold back from helping whoever needed them. This account in the Bible makes me think of all the things God has given to us. Everything that we have received comes from God. God has given us freely of his love and grace, and we should be able to do the same for whomever needs it. God’s love and God’s grace has been freely given to us. We should freely give it to all. - David

Your Talents to Teach Jesus

Tim Yaeger “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." - Matthew 3:11. Everyone has a special talent; something you are good at doing. We all have something important to do for God. He has given us all special gifts to do His Will. John the Baptist’s purpose was to tell people that Jesus was coming. He worked so hard telling the people about Jesus that he didn't care what he had to eat. So he ate locusts and honey. His gift was the ability to give up comfort to preach about Jesus. God called John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus. People needed to make a change in their hearts in order to enter God's Kingdom. The people had to admit that they were sinners and then repent. John the Baptist and Jesus wanted everyone to repent of sin and turn to God. Jesus paid the price and died on the cross to take our punishment, and He rose from the dead to give us eternal life. We can be with Jesus forever in Heaven! Remember when we do wrong… God will forgive us when we repent, ask forgiveness and try our best to live for him! Take some time today to pray, read God’s word and let Him lead you to your purpose and how you can use your gift to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those around you everyday.
