Volume 33, Issue 7: November 2017 Message from Mary Ann: Happy November! I hope this month brings you all as much joy as you can contain! This is my favorite holiday. I see so much to thankful for! The time spent with friends and family are my best memories. Cuddle up with your favorite beverage and blankets...quilt away...winter has arrived. We will be completing as many of our Hope House blankets as we can on the 14th. I have to say that...as always, Linda dove into this project and done the lion's share of the organizing and work to really make it work! Diane L. donated a mountain of fleece and support! Thank you...thank you...THANK YOU! Also, thanks go out to the donors who helped to make Christmas special for these families! This month our meeting falls late so we all can have a no pressure holiday. We hope to see you all at the library for a very brief meeting after the Penni's Pickle dish class on the 29th. We are hoping you have all signed up and seen Tracy or Karen with your checks! It is such a cute block...guaranteed to be fun! We will be collecting baby quilts for our NICU speaker so remember to bring those along! It is also the end of our membership incentive so be sure to see Marlene for your new member QBucks! We are hoping to see a lot of new members to kick off the new year! Remember Bonnie Hunter is coming! February is right around the corner! My how our year has flown! See you soon...Happy Thanksgiving! Happy November!

I hope this month brings you all as much joy as you can contain! This is my favorite holiday. I see so much to thankful for! The time spent with friends and family are my best memories. Cuddle up with your favorite beverage and blankets...quilt away...winter has arrived.

Membership:

Please wish these lovely ladies a Happy Birthday in November: Katrina B. (21st), Janice F. (22nd), Marty M. (30th)

Marlene will be handing out QBUCKS for all members who bring someone to the meeting and they join! For each person that you recruit, you will receive $10 in QBUCKS. This QBUCK will go towards a class such as the one by Penny Domikus in November who will be doing a class on Pickle Pie paper piecing, and/or the one being taught by Bonnie Hunter in February. The more you get to join the less you will need to pay towards the class of your choice. You have until November 29th to bring in new members. So recruit, recruit, recruit!!!!!

Marlene and Nancy discovered an "old rule" that was part of the VSG Welcome Letter. As an added incentive to wearing your sewn name tag, you will be charged 25 cents for not wearing one! Marlene is going to make up a Jar for this purpose. We figured any funds can be added to the gifts at the Christmas Party!

Who would like to receive a greeting card?

Let Michele know if anyone needs a little sunshine in their life! She has been sending out cards on behalf of the guild and would like to hear of birthdays, anniversaries, people who are ill, new grandchildren, etc.

“Hearts in Flight” Challenge! The Hearts in Flight Challenge and Display during the month of October has been a fun project. We have showcased our skills, increased our revenue, and increased our exposure within the community. Sales of our quilted items grossed $442 for us to split with the American Heart Association! Visitors to the Library were encouraged to vote for their favorite displayed item. In total we had 108 votes for "Best in Show." Here are the winners, by popular vote: First Place - #1 Hearts in Flight baby quilt by Diane Levy with 18 votes. Diane will receive a gift certificate to Crazy Cousins!

Second Place - #7 With Every Beat of My Heart by Linda Kaup with 15 votes

Third Place - #3 Heaven Bound by Penny Rutys with 12 votes Thanks to all who made items to display, and to all those whose time and energy made this project a success, Mercy, Suzanna (from the Libray), Lynellen, Penny, Linda, Shirley, Diane, Mary Ann, and Pat, just to name a few.
