Department Activities

Admission Maharaja Institute of Technology Mysore with CET Code-158

is situated at a beautiful, enchanting and sprawling landscape

in Belavadi Village, Srirngapatna Taluk, Mandya. The institute

is founded by a group of eminent people recognised for their

eminence in the field of science and engineering technology.

Many of them have served at the highest levels of AICTE and

University. The college is equipped with all modern learning

aids to make teaching-learning process a pleasure. The

highly qualified staffs are its asset. The college has very good

track record of admission in comparison with other

engineering Colleges in Mysore region. Department of

Mechanical Engineering is approved with 120 intake from the

year 2011. Details of admission for the past three years are

Results Department of Mechanical Engineering has successfully

completed 11years and produced quality Mechanical

Engineers with good results. In the Academic Year 2018-19

98% of students have passed with 101 students securing First

Class with Distinction.

5-Days FDP on Lean Manufacturing Techniques

Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted 5-Day FDP

on Lean Manufacturing Techniques in association with Quality

Circle Forum of India, Mysuru Chapter from 25th Feb to 1st

March 2019. 48 participants from various colleges in and

around Mysore have participated in the program. Resource

persons from reputed industries such as Bosch Limited, (MICO)

India, L & T and corporate sector trainers were invited for

delivering the session. Industrial visit was arranged to

Automotive Axles Limited, Mysuru on the final day of FDP for

the participants.

Project Exhibition & Symposium

Department organised “Mechsimostech-2019”a student Project

Exhibition, Paper Presentation & Symposium on 9th May 2019.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Umashankar, Professor &

Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, KVGCE-Sulia

and Dr. B G Naresh Kumar, Principal, MITM. More than 20

projects related to Agriculture, Mechatronics, Automation,

Manufacturing and Automobile sector have been displayed in

the exhibition such as Sugarcane Harvesting Machine, Pedal

Operated Paddy Threshing Machine, Three Wheel Segway,

Fabrication of Single lever operated Wheelchair, Fabrication of

Fused Deposition Modelling Machine, Automatic Pesticide

Sprayer, Design and Fabrication of Abrasive Jet Machine,

Design and fabrication of welding slag removal machine,

Design and fabrication of oil fired furnace, Design and

fabrication of Formula-1 Race Car were the major attraction of

Department Activities

Technical Talks: Department of mechanical engineering organizes various

technical talks by inviting expertise from industries and

academia’s from other colleges. Expert lectures organized

during the 2018-19 are listed below.

1. A technical Talk on Gear Manufacturing by Mr. M S

Ramesh, Professor, IP & E, SJCE, Mysuru for 6th Semester

Industrial Visits: Department of Mechanical Engineering organizes various

industrial visits to companies in and around Mysore,

Mandya and Nanjungud to students to give an exposure

to practices used in industry and to enhance the practical

knowledge. Some of the major industries visited are

mentioned below.

Internships Department encourages its students to undergo

internship training during the semester vacations for

gaining the experience in industries. Following is the

Scholarships To develop, recognize, support, motivate and uplift the

student community, Department of Mechanical

Engineering, MITM proudly awards student scholarships

to the deserving student. Department has scholarship

committee to assess the applicants after the applications

are received and the scholarships will be issued in the

annual inaugural function of “Mechismos Club”

Department Achievements

Department of Mechanical Engineering, MITM motivates

students in executing creative and innovative projects

which are beneficial to the society. Few innovative

projects executed during year 2019 are listed below.

1. Design and Fabrication of Fused Deposition Modelling

Training Programs Department of Mechanical Engineering organizes various

training programs and nurtures the students to update

themselves for today’s industrial requirement on all fields

of engineering like Design, Hydraulics and Pneumatics,

Robotics, Mechatronics, Programming etc. All the training

programs are certification programs where on successful

completion of the training the students receives certificate

from the training agency. Till date the department has

organized around 60 plus training programs to the

students.

Department has setup an Center of Excellence in

Mechatronics Training and Research (CEMTER) center to

train the students, wherein 600 programs can be

executed.

Department has also signed MOU with reputed training

centres like:

1. Sri Manjunatha Design Solutions, Bangalore, for Catia

training program for 2nd year students

2. VTU regional Center, for Hydraulics and Pneumatics

training for 3rd year students.

3. Government ITI college Mysore for training students

on CNC programming for Turning and milling

operations.

4. EicherCenter of Excellence, NIE Mysuru, for Basic

Automobile Training for 3rd year students.

5. Center of Excellence for Manufacturing, NIE Mysuru,

for advanced manufacturing training program for 3rd

year students.

Placements In the academic year 2018-19, various reputed

companies have visited the college for the recruitment

of Mechanical Engineering students, wherein 32

students have got placed out of 100 eligible students to

various industries including core-Technical and IT, with

a minimum package of 2.5lakhs per annum to a

maximum package of 4.5lakhs per annum. The
