Growing up in Katy, Texas gave me the opportunity to play sports,

attend summer church camps, run on playgrounds, and attend the high

-ranking school district, Katy ISD.

However, during my junior year at Cinco Ranch High School, our family

would be forever changed. Following a traumatic event at age 17, I

sought to cover up my grief by surrounding myself with unhealthy rela-

tionships, and I attempted to medicate my pain. This put me on the radar of traffickers within my school

who were looking for students who were vulnerable. A fellow athlete pursued me on campus and en-

couraged me to meet up with a pimp, who was a former student of Cinco Ranch High School in Fort Bend

County.

As my parents fought to save my life, my story was thrown into the spotlight where people fiercely debat-

ed the reality of my situation. Some supported my family, knowing something very bad must be happen-

ing to take me from my family and childhood home, while others ruthlessly attacked my family, accusing

my parents of being controlling, helicopter parents.

I believe most people refused to accept that sex trafficking could be happening right in their own back-

yards.

The next several years would take me on a hellish journey across the United States. I was under the emo-

tional and physical control of a network of extremely heinous, abusive people who exploited my vulnera-

bility. It is only by the grace of God that my life was saved, and I returned to my family who embraced me

with open arms.

The intensive residential recovery program that followed saved my life, restored my soul and healed my

tremendous pain. The Refuge for Women provided the tools that I needed to process and heal my trauma

while re-connecting me with my faith and foundation of which I was raised on.

It is an honor to be named Childproof America Ambassador. I’m so blessed to be given a platform to use

my suffering for a monumental purpose! God is never blind to our tears. He is never deaf to our prayers.

He will not remain silent to our grief. God intentionally purposes our pain! The knowledge that I have

gained about this horrendous crime will empower families and prevent their children from falling prey to

master exploiters.

My work as Ambassador will include developing legislation to mandate sex trafficking education in Texas

school districts, peer to peer interventions, public speaking education, training of professionals to effec-

tively identify and serve victims, support local, state and national leaders to improve policy and protect

victims from being criminalized.

I want any and all individuals impacted by human trafficking to know that there is a way out. I am a walk-

ing miracle of perseverance and living proof of Gods’ faithfulness and mercy. I would not have chosen my

life to have transpired in any other way. My brokenness led me to my true calling to save lives and radi-

ate hope and redemption that can only be truly obtained through Jesus Christ. I find comfort in knowing

that God will give me justice.

We are never given a battle or hardship that we cannot handle. I am not defined by what has happened

to me. What defines my heart and my integrity is making the choice to dedicate my suffering to aid oth-

ers and set an example of what it looks like to become a true, new creation in Christ. I forever choose to

live by faith and no longer by fear.

Kelly Litvak was our speaker at our Texas Asian Republican Club monthly meeting on June

10, 2019, at the Tracy Gee Community Center. She is an outstanding speaker and her talk

really captivated the audience. She was extremely well informed about a subject that few

last when she shared her personal story. What really got me was the pic-

tures of 8 or so people that looked so ordinary - a cheerleader, a mother,

a green beret. When Kelly revealed that ALL of them turned out to be

traffickers, I could not have been more stunned or amazed.

Also, most parents do not know the lingo that their children are seeing

and using on social media. Kelly's presentation empowers parents with

must-know information to keep kids safe! The Childproof America presen-
