knowledge of our members. This year it comprises three sessions and the topics were selected on the requests made by our
members. We have become fortunate enough to find three prominent gentlemen as presenters and there is no doubt, the
session will be an attractive one.
The technical session is a gathering of people with a common interest or background, with the purposes of allowing them to
meet one another and to learn about and discuss issues, ideas and work that focus on a topic of mutual concern. These
presentations may take the form of lectures, slide shows or films and interactive experience. The presentations tend to be
focused more on practical issues.
Please reserve your seat early to avoid disappoint as there are only 250 seats.

THE INSTITUTION OF INCORPORATED
ENGINEERS, SRI LANKA.
27B, UDUMULLA ROAD
BATTARAMULLA, SRI LANKA
The Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka has
been providing CPD programs for engineers and other
professionals interested in their career and personal
development since 2006 under the guidance and
supervision of the CPD committee. The programs were
coordinated by the Education & Training Division of the
IIESL secretariat.
Continuing professional development is important
because it ensures you continue to be competent in your
profession. It is an ongoing process and continues
throughout a professional’s career. The importance of
continuing professional development should not be
underestimated – it is a career-long obligation for
practicing professionals. It is a personal responsibility of
professionals to keep their knowledge and skills current
so that they can deliver the high quality of service that
safeguards the public and meets the expectations of
customers and the requirements of their profession.
As one of the professional institutions of engineering we
have been trying our best to educate engineers and
already we have completed three programs since
January this year. Another program is scheduled to be
started in the last week of April. This is a commendable
achievement of the education and training division. If
you closely monitor, you will notice that there is a
continuous improvement in these programs. Topics to
cover all disciplines of engineering and utilizing good
resource persons will make these programs more
attractive. Our institution has an auditorium with all
facilities at Battaramulla, to conduct such programs.
We must give priority to applicants those who have
followed CPD programs conducted by the institution
when they apply for membership of IIESL or making
compulsory at least one certificate of a CPD program to
offer membership of IIESL.
