Secretary’s Report

I can’t believe that it is already the middle of September. Na-ture is telling us that autumn is just around the corner. Some deer are still sporting their summer ‘red’ coats while others have on their winter coats, the annual flowers have seen their better days, the leaves are turning, frost advisories have been issued several mornings and the hummingbirds have left for their long journey to South America. Autumn also means that it is time to renew your club membership and get your AWSC trail passes. I know that nobody wants to think about the snow coming but it is time to get your sleds ready for the upcoming season. Just think of it this way – it is much easier to work on your sled when it is 60o than when it is 20o. Sincerely,

Kay Schultz Membership Meeting Last month we did our first non-dinner membership meeting. Attending were 34 members including 3 new members. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes. Your board of directors has once again decided to have the membership meeting at the St. Germain Community Center. It will be held at 7:00pm. on Tuesday, October 13th. Please remember that once again masks will be required. Hope to see you there. Bo-Boen Board of Directors

Trail Boss Report—Jim Wendt Well, we cross off another month in this crazy year of 2020. This summer has produced some challenging issues regarding our new groomer barn project. We had a car-pentry crew change after 2 days and then waited 2 weeks to re-start the project. The new crew was outstanding and got the building complete in 6 days. The heating contrac-tor completed the hookups, the plumber connected the air and water lines, and the electrician had the power com-pleted in a total of 9 work days! All we needed was the new garage doors and openers installed and we could begin the interior work to complete the project.........then COVID struck! The doors to date are 8 weeks out from the order due to supply chain problems. Our next promised date is September 22nd. We have not been able to finish the inside because we have no security for equipment, tools, or supplies without garage doors. Sure hope our luck changes. Club brushing is Saturday, October 17, at 9:00 am at the groomer barn (hopefully with doors). Always a fun day to be out in the woods. Hope you can make it for this very necessary task. Equipment is ready, drivers are ready, trails will be ready.....I hope you will be ready, too! Happy Trails, Jim

If you haven’t yet, please return your form or use our secure membership renewal form on line at h ps://boboen.com/club‐membership All AWSC memberships expired June 30, so the sooner you can return your form the sooner we can renew with the AWSC. Presidents Message—Steve Soltwedel Cool nights and changing fall colors are just enough to re-mind us to get ready for the upcoming snowmobile season. We held our first monthly membership meeting at the St Germain Community Center on September 8th. I was so pleased to see the 35 plus members that showed up for this meeting, considering the fact we could not hold a dinner meeting due to current virus health regulations. It was a reminder for me of just how strong our club is. Our next meeting will again be at the Community Center on October 13 at 7:00PM. Come and join us. Our 7th Annual Golf Outing held August 30 was a huge suc-cess. We had 79 golfers and 92 Hole Sponsors and loads of volunteers. A special thanks to those who volunteered, our Hole Sponsors, Trout Lake Golf Club, Mike Osborne, Greg Platz, Jeff Horvath, Jim Wendt, Bob Ausloos, and the Di-rectors who solicited hole sponsors. This has rapidly be-come our second largest fund raiser and continues to grow each year. It was a fun day. We are continually blessed with community support and want to acknowledge and thank the St Germain Chamber of Commerce for their $6,000 donation that was received in August. Trail clean-up and signing has begun and now it is time to remind you that our annual Brushing Day is October 17th. Show up at the groomer barn and help us prepare the trails for the upcoming season. You will also be able to view our newly completed groomer barn addition. Enjoy the fall colors, stay safe and get ready for a great snowmobile season, Steve

SNOWMOBILE SAFETY CLASS

December 12 & 13, 2020

The Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club’s Snowmobile Safety Education Class will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 12 & 13, 2020 at the St. Germain Community Cen-ter. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the class will be limited to 40 students. We encour-age you to get your student on the list ASAP. The class will not be entered on the GO WILD website until November 1st in order to allow Bo-Boen members the opportunity to sign up before going public. We also would like to encourage adult students to consider taking the online course at gowild.wi.gov in order to make room for the younger stu-dents who are not eligible for the online course. We will be applying measures for social distancing and masks will be required. A box lunch will be provided on Saturday or stu-dents may bring their own lunch. Anyone 11years of age or older is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education certificate, however, the certificate does not become valid until the child reaches 12 years of age. Pre-registration is required by calling Peggy Ausloos at (715) 542-3548 (home), (715) 892-6467 (Cell) or email: [email protected]. Beginning January 1, 2001, any person born on or after January 1, 1985 and who has reached the age of 12, must have completed and received a snowmobile safety certifi-cate in order to operate a snowmobile in Wisconsin. The certificate must be carried while operating the snowmobile, and displayed to a law enforcement officer upon de-mand. All students are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer ID# as part of the criteria to graduate from any Recreational Safety Class and provide that number to their instructor. Students can obtain a DNR Customer ID# from St. Germain Sport Marine during business hours or by calling 1-888-936-7463 between 7 AM and 10 PM. You can also visit a Wisconsin DNR Service Center during their regular scheduled hours. You will need to provide your social security number. For additional DNR Service Center hours and locations go to www. gowild.wi.gov and click on the “Get Started” tab.
