For Way Back week we dug into the past and enjoyed the “Huge” Dinosaur Fossil Exhibition and Dinosaur Egg Hunt. The event period was Ice Age cool when we enjoyed a Scavenger Hunt to find out more about our friends old and new. Happy Birthday Buddy! Chef Leo's cake was great. Remember there is no camp on Wednesday in observance of 4th of July! Week 2 is Captain America Week, Picture Day and a camp wide picnic! It’s here, it’s here, it’s really, really here Camp has started …let’s all cheer!!!

We’re ‘Baaaaack’ was our theme this week, and Big League FUN is what we all seek.

Banner Day is a big time tradition And our Ivy Cup Competition has become a great

addition. Next up is Captain America Week,

It’s all Red, White & Blue as we celebrate during week

#2.

Monica Tobio

Head Counselor

Monica is happy to return as Head Counselor at ILDC for her

17th summer of Big League Fun. She is thrilled to once again

have the opportunity to work with campers and counselors in

all divisions. During the year, Monica is a 4th grade teacher at

Clark Mills School right here in Manalapan. She just finished

her 27th year teaching. She is looking forward to another great

summer of Big League Fun. Monica is proud to be a part of the

Ivy League family!

Janis Ventre

Mini & Preschool Supervisor

Janis Ventre is Ivy League Day Camp’s Mini Day, Preppy, and

Pre-school Supervisor. This is Janis’ 20th summer at Ivy

League. Janis is a Kindergarten teacher in Staten Island, NY.

She and her husband, Roy, have 2 children, Scott and Melissa,

who both attended and worked at Ivy League. Janis enjoys

watching, playing, and having fun with all her adorable

children. Summer has begun! We’re ready for lots of BIG

LEAGUE FUN!

Kami Goldberg

K-2nd Girls Supervisor

Kami is thrilled to be at Ivy League for

another great summer! This will be Kami’s

27th summer at camp, and she knows this

will be the best ever! Kami is a special

education coach in Manalapan, and has been

teaching for 21 years. Kami’s children, Tyler,

Ryan, and Hannah join Kami at camp, and

they LOVE being a part of the ILDC

family as well. She looks forward to making

sure that all her campers have a happy and

safe summer.

Sharon Katzanek

K-2nd Boys Supervisor

Summertime 2018 is finally here!

It’s Sharon’s 27th season, lets all give a cheer.

During the year, she teaches at school,

But she thinks camp is exceptionally cool.

Her husband is Stu and her 2 daughters are

April and Kate.

She has three grandchildren, Sammi, Carter, and

Joey, who she thinks are first rate.

Sammi loves camp and she has so much fun,

Spending her days in the Ivy League sun!

The smiles on campers’ faces are her favorite things,

You can tell what is going on by looking at her

earrings.

No matter what you do at camp, you will definitely

have fun,

Sharon is ready to help make this summer #1!

Jeff Sheiner

3rd-5th Girls Supervisor

Jeff Sheiner has been involved with camping for 27

years, having been at Ivy League for the last 14

years. Jeff was a Special Education teacher in

Franklin Township, NJ for 29 years. He also worked

as a teacher and supervisor in the Adult Life Skills

program for 23 years at East Brunswick High School

during the evening. He has been married for 41 years

and has two adult daughters. He fills his spare time

with reading and doing house projects. Jeff also loves

to ski and enjoys traveling with his wife. Jeff

volunteers at Ronald MacDonald House in New

Brunswick, NJ. Jeff would like to welcome all new and

returning campers. He wishes all a safe, happy,

healthy, and fun summer!

James Wesley

Travel Supervisor

Goodbye school, and HELLO SUMMER! James “Wes”

Wesley is ready for his 5th year at Ivy League Day Camp

as the travel camp supervisor. During the school year,

James is a history teacher at Keyport High School. He

has been teaching for 16 years. Wes has a beautiful 4

1/2 year old daughter who is currently attending camp.

He is looking forward to an awesome summer filled with

laughs and camps events. Let’s have a FUN and SAFE

summer!!

Justin Schmid

Athletics Supervisor

Hey Ivy League! The athletics staff is pumped and ready

to go for another fun summer at the best camp around.

Justin couldn’t be more excited for his 8th summer as

Athletics supervisor and 28th summer here at ILDC. He’ll

be working with the best sports specialists possible to

bring new, fun, and creative activities to your children at

ILDC. As a staff, we promise to work tirelessly so that the

campers have as much fun as Justin had as a camp

counselor and specialist for the past 2 decades here at

Ivy League!

Raquel Longo

Waterfront Supervisor

Raquel has been at Ivy League for 20 summers! She has

been on the waterfront staff the past two, and she is

excited for her first year as supervisor. She is in graduate

school for her Masters in Elementary Education.

Raquel’s first priority is helping each and every camper

become a safe and strong swimmer. She is so excited

for another wonderful summer at ILDC.

Pre-School Director

I would like to welcome everyone to Ivy League Day Camp!

The campers are in for a real treat this summer with so many

new and exciting activities to participate in. They are also going

to build very special friendships and reacquaint with summer

friends. Enrollment is still open, so please call the office to

register! In addition, we offer extended care hours, hot lunch,

and many after school activities. Our before care will start at

6:30 am and we will stay open for after care until 6:30 pm. If

Special Events Coordinator

Welcome to Big League Fun! Audrey is proud to say this is her

32nd summer at ILDC. Both of her children grew up at Ivy

League, and it is her granddaughter’s 4th summer and her

grandson’s 1st summer of BIG LEAGUE FUN! Audrey is so

excited for all of the events that are planned for 2018, so make

sure you check your “On Campus Happening” calendar every

day!

Jenn Polinger

Camp Nurse

This is Nurse Jenn’s 3rd year at ILDC. She has been a nurse

for 18 years, most of them in pediatrics. During the school

year, she works part-time as a Certified School Nurse. She is

excited to be working with all of your children!

ALL ABOUT THE IVY LEAGUE SWIM BANDS

Blue “Starfish” Band — All campers receive a blue band. This band grants free swim access to the

frog pool.

Orange “Marlin” Band — Campers receive this band when they independently jump into 5 ft of water

and swim to the opposite side of the slide pool without assistance, which is approximately 15 feet to

swim. This band grants free swim access to the slide pool which is 3-5ft deep and has 2 swirly slides.

Green “Dolphin” Band — Campers receive this band when they swim 25 meters across the Olympic

pool without assistance. This band grants free swim access to the Olympic pool.

Yellow “Shark” Band — Campers receive this band when they jump into 12 ft of water and tread with

their head above water for 30 seconds without assistance. This band grants free swim access to the

“BIG GREEN SLIDE”.

Rainbow “Orca” Band — When a camper receive all 3 proceeding bands (orange, green, and yellow),

they get a rainbow band for having completed every swim test here at Ivy League! This grants full

access to all 4 pools during free swim!

Free Swim Instruction

Don’t forget… you can request an additional one to one swim lesson for your child during free swim.

They will receive 10 minutes of swim instruction with Stacy Volkov, WSI, once a week. You can request

to work on a specific skill, including diving, endurance, achieving a band, and so much more! Free swim

instruction is no additional charge. Please call camp and ask for Raquel to book a free swim instruction

lesson for the rest of the summer!
