Competitive spirit makes our students ready for their upcoming life and we equipped them through competitions like “I am special, Design an emoji that describes you and Doodle making.” Fit is not a destination; it is a way of life. As a school, there is a lot of prominence on continuous fitness and health through yoga and meditation sessions. It infuses creativity, happiness and zeal in them to give their best during the day. It is much treasured by students of all the age groups. Celebrating culture, nature and skills together makes our assemblies memorable for lifetime for our students and teachers. We celebrated Baisakhi; I am special and Earth’s day with utmost gusto. Umang; Enthusiasm energises and enlightens everyone to be exuberant every day! Field Trip to ‘Waste to Wonder Park – New Delhi’ I went to Waste to Wonder park on Saturday from my school to celebrate Earth week. My whole class went there in our school bus. On the way to the park we were given cue sheets to know about the main attractions of the park and their details. We reached there early in the morning. I was amazed to see the famous wonders of the world. It is not possible for a human being to visit and observe all the wonders in its lifetime however now we have got the opportunity to see them all at this famous park. It was a spell binding sight to see the monuments. I was super excited to see the Eiffel Tower of Paris, Pyramids of Egypt, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Taj Mahal of India amongst other wonders. I was left stunned to see that they were made from recycled iron and other waste materials. My Class Teacher Priya Ma’am, explained the materials used in them to us. My favourite was Taj Mahal. I was speechless when I saw replicas of animals peeping from the leaves of the trees at me. My friends and I asked our teacher to click our photos with them. Many trees had the features of human beings pasted on them. It will be a pleasure to go back there again. Doodle Making “On 28th April my school organised a Doodle making activity to celebrate Earth Week. Nature is painting for us pictures of infinite beauty day after day. Mother Earth is a living organism too. We must love, honour and respect her. We were asked to doodle across the outside walls of our Indoor Abhimanch . We wanted to share the message to ‘Save Mother Earth’ with the students across the globe. The doodling not only brought my creativity to the fore but also helped my friends and me to relate to this mission of saving earth. When we all realised ‘Heart and Earth’; both are spelled with the same letters, it made sense that we needed to treat mother Earth with utmost respect and sensitivity coming from our hearts. We enjoyed the activity and got sensitised towards our responsibility to contribute towards saving our planet.” Maati se Parichay The sweet fragrance of soil after fresh rain is the most aromatic smell of nature. To get us - the students; back in touch with our roots and to give us a feel of the beauty of soil, a potter was invited by my school to help us students learn how pliant and creative the clay is and can be. We created various kinds of pots and vases on the potter’s wheel. Our happiness was out of bounds.” Parichay & Aarambh Nothing in the universe can stop you from letting go and starting again. Budding enthusiasm

The small buds of our beautiful Manaskriti garden have been getting settled and doing various activities like sorting and stacking, matching, greeting elders and environmental studies.

With an open curriculum, the small minds are able to learn freely and take active roles in all the activities, this has helped them in demonstrating excellent skills and take control of their learning which is beneficial in self motivation.

Hands on learning

Students of Grade 1 did pottery and learnt Hindi shabd with clay. Maths abacus activity was done with a beads abacus. They learnt before, after and between concepts of Maths through number bricks.

All these activities helped them in revising the concepts by practical applications and also helped

their creative thinking to come out.

Students participated withfull zeal and enthusiasm.

Values and learning

Learning by doing not only supports and shapes the conceptual understanding of the children but also allows them to come up with their imagination and build a new world. Grade 2 students not only learnt the concepts like addition, place value, expanded form, etc. using beads & place value chart, to recall them better they alsolearnt them through abacus and fake currency.

They learnt the names of various spices and medicinal plants to experience the properties of shrubs, herbs and parts of trees. Students of Grade 2

visited and experienced everything in theclass as well as Gulmohar Greens.

After listening to the story in the class and presenting it in the form of skit, students lelearnt how to make sentences on their own. Several activities were conducted in the classroom for better understanding of proper nouns, common nouns, countable & uncountable nouns.

Children need the freedom to appreciate the infinite resources of their hands their eyes and their ears, the resource of forms, materials, sounds and colors.

Rhymes, action song, tang party, finger printing, birthday celebrations, are few of the activities that were taken up in the month of April.
