The three time Idaho
State Drama champions,
Coeur d’Alene High
School Theatre Depart-
ment, is proud to produce
The Giver, based on the
award-winning book by
Lois Lowry,
“Jonas has been selected
to be our next Receiver of
Memory. Such an experi-
ence is very, very rare…
you will be faced now
with pain of a magnitude
that none of us here can
comprehend because it’s
beyond our experience.”
Chance McWilliams illu-
minates the stage in the
role of Jonas, a young
man soon to become The
Giver. At the age of 12,
Jonas is forced to grow up
when he is given the as-
signment of Receiver of
Memory by the Chief El-
der (Ella Jacoby). He will
now hold the weight of
the world’s mysteries,
memories, and problems.
Meanwhile, Jonas’ friends
Fiona and Asher, played
by Autumn Plucker and
Blake Presnell, along
with his family, Mother
(Bethany Stone, previous-
ly seen as Elizabeth
Moore in 7th Generation:
A Christmas Carol), Fa-
ther (Justin Clarke, pre-
viously seen as Justin
Cratchet in 7th Genera-
tion: A Christmas Carol),
and little sister Lily
(Jenna Whitfield) are left
in a mess of confusion as
they see Jonas face the
changes that being the
new receiver brings.
Chase Von Chaaf stars as
The Giver, a man who
wants one simple thing:
to give.
With the new knowledge
that he has been given,
Jonas sets out to change
the current ways of his
world. “It’s not fair that
nothing has color. If eve-
rything’s the same, then
there aren’t any choices! I
want to wake up in the
morning and decide
things!” Through this
astonishing and moving
adaptation, discover what
it means to grow up, to
grow wise, and to take
control of your own desti-
ny.
There is no war or fear or
pain. There are also no
choices. Every person is
assigned a role in the
community. But when
Jonas turns 12, he is cho-
sen for special training
from The Giver—to re-
ceive and keep the memo-
ries of the community.
The Giver is the only per-
son who holds the memo-
ries of real pain and real
joy. Now Jonas will learn
the truth about life—and
the hypocrisy of his utopi-
an world. Through this
astonishing and moving
adaptation, discover what
it means to grow up, to
grow wise, and to take
control of your own desti-
ny.
The show runs at 7 p.m.
on October 23, 24 and 28,
29, 30 in the Coeur
d’Alene High School

PAGE 2 VOLUME 2 ISSUE 1
We have been experiencing a large increase of parents calling the school wishing to pick up or release their students from school
throughout the day as well the last ½ hour of school. These requests cause a continual interruption to the classroom and instruc-
tional time.
You can help us by:
**Sending your student to school
with a note in the morning, when
they have an appointment during
the day. This way they can be giv-
en a campus pass, in the morning,
to leave at the requested time. The
note must have students full name,
time to be excused, purpose of ab-
sence, date and parent signature.
** Scheduling your pickup times
during passing periods. See Daily
Bell Schedule.
**Please note: Students who
leave the campus without pri-
or approval will NOT be ex-
cused and marked as truant.
Thank you for your support!
YEARBOOK! Be sure to purchase your yearbook this year! You DO NOT want to miss out on this book! This will
be the first book in Coeur d'Alene's history with a metal cover and word magnets with it!

We want everyone to have a copy of this book that is SURE to be an award winning book. YEARBOOK!!!!

Many thanks to the Panhandle Kiwanis for their generous donation of three Sousa-
phone covers for the CHS Marching Band!
Also, thanks to the Idaho Commission on the Arts for the 2015 Teacher Incentive
Grant which allowed us to purchase 15 new pieces of music for the CHS Jazz Band.
All of these pieces were written by well-known jazz composers and we have been in
contact with all of them for feedback and comments about our preparation and per-
formance.
We have a fully funded grant through DonorsChoose.org for
a new alto saxophone! ($1300.00) Donations from students,
family, alumni and anonymous donors made this happen in
about 5 weeks!
