years old. In school she is in-volved in volleyball, softball,

likes how our government works.

However, she would like to make

Metallica bassist’s son to play in

Metal Music is good

for your Health

A new study claims metal music to be good for your health.

There is the stereotype that metal-

heads are angry and depressed,

but a new study claims that it does the exact opposite.

Researchers from the Univer-

sity of Queensland Australia said

that when they exposed people to harder music like Heavy Metal,

Hard Rock, and Punk that the

participants experienced only

positive emotions like happiness, calmness, and inspiration.

Student Leah Sharman and

psychologist Genevieve Dingle

conducted the experiment on 39 volunteers ranging in age from 18

to 34 years old. They were asked

to recall a bad memory and were

shown after exposure to the music they were less aggressive. http://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-why-

On Monday April 3, the

Arrows played the West Central

Area Knights. Giving up two errors we lost the game 10 - 5.

The Knights scored 7 runs in the

5th inning to take the lead.

On April 6, we faced the Brandon/Evansville Chargers.

We battled back and fourth but

lost in the end. Score of 17-7.

On Friday April 7, the Ar-rows won in dramatic fashion.

After gaining a 6-0 lead in the

first 5 innings, Pelican Rapids

came back in the 6th inning and scored 10 runs. In the 7th inning

Cody Fults laid down a walk off

squeeze bunt to win.

Ashby Arrow softball team

lost their first two games. The

first game was in WCA, score was 15-6. The second game was

against Brandon/Evansville and

the score was 16-10. The soft-

ball girls had a game on Tuesday April 11, in Hillcrest and the

score was 14-1.

Ashby’s first golf meet was

at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course

on April 11. The scores were—Ganon Heinrich with 99, Brad-

ley Anderson

with 110,

M i k a h B u r k h a r d t

with 115, and

Cooper Pe-

terson 131. Capt. Jaxon Knick got 135 and Brandon Anderson

got a 151.

of the season. The new members are getting a feel for the atmos-

phere of trap, and so has everyone

else who seemed to not be shoot-

shooting more than 40/50 clays.

We will hopefully see an im-

provement in shooting in the next few weeks leading up to the actual

scores that will count towards

making it onto the varsity team.

Good luck to all the Ashby high school trap shooting team.

Samuel Adams was born on

September 27, 1722 in Boston.

He is the son to Samuel Adams Sr., and Mary Adams. He was the

brother to 11 other children but

was one of only three children to

make it past 3 years of age. In 1736 he attended Harvard

and then continued his studies

after graduating. Then, in 1748

he started writing political essays in the local newspaper.

Sam married Elizabeth

Checkley in October of 1749 and

they had six kids. In 1757 she

died after giving birth. He married Elizabeth Wells in 1764.

From 1765 to 1774 he served

as a legislator of Massachusetts

and helped found Boston’s Com-mittee of Correspondence that

provided communication during

the American Revolutionary War.

In 1781 he urged a final break from Great Britain and signed the

Declaration of Independence. His

final post was as a governor for

Massachusetts from 1794 to 1797. He died on October 2, 1803 in

Boston, Massachusetts at the

It’s that time of the year again

when we have to look out for

wood ticks! Do you know anyone who has gotten bitten by a tick

and contracted Lyme’s Disease? It

is a very serious disease that can

cause debilitating symptoms and often cannot be treated if not

caught early.

Most people with Lyme dis-

For those who develop syndromes

after their infection is treated, pain

medications may provide some relief but there is no cure.

Be sure to check yourself for

ticks after being outdoors.

Metallica is one of the big-

gest selling acts in American his-

tory. They were born on October 28, 1981 when drummer Lars

Ulrich and guitar player/singer

James Hetfield got together. After

hitting the opener’s circuit in LA they recorded their first ever demo

No Life ‘Til Leather. The circuit

went crazy for it.

They later made the albums Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Light-

ning. The bands third album Mas-

ter of Puppets hit the top 30 album

charts and expanded their fan base beyond comprehension. Metallica

was unstoppable.

On tour in Sweden, during an

overnight drive the bands’ tour bus skidded out of control and

flipped killing Cliff Burton. Met-

allica has continued to make al-

bums and go on tour even up until 2016 and they hope to continue!

“Th1rteen R3asons Why”

The book is the basis of the

television series 13 Reasons Why, released through Netflix on March

31, 2017.

Clay Jensen, a shy high

school student, returns home from school one day to find that he has

received a mysterious package in

the mail. It contains seven double-

sided cassette tapes used by Hannah Baker, a classmate

who has recently committed sui-

cide. Each tape details a reason

that she killed herself. The tapes were sent to various other people

before arriving at Clay's door.

more.

Hey guys! Again this issue

I’m going to be talking about

places to eat at for prom! A fan-cier, more costly place to eat that

is close to Ashby is SteVelly’s

steak and seafood restaurant in

Battle Lake, MN. On trip advisor SteVelly’s is

rated 4½ stars and their reviews

are excellent. SteVelly’s is known

for their ribs that are coated in their scratch sauce and their wall-

eye.

If you go with your date, but

they want a more laid back meal SteVelly’s also serves simple bar

food such as buffalo wings and

chicken strips. This restaurant has

great service and is sure to be a good place to

bring your

da t e. You

could either bring just your

date or you

could go with

a group of friends, either

way, you’re

sure to have a full and happy belly

when you leave this place!
