AC Baguio Supports SLU SEA Mechanical

Engineering Department’s DIY

Maker Space Program

AC Baguio sponsored the Extension Project of Saint Louis University School of Engineering and

Architecture Mechanical Engineering Department entitled, “Promoting Locally Made Laboratory

Equipment to High School in Benguet.” The overall goal of the DIY Makerspace Project is to

introduce and promote low cost and locally made projectile motion equipment (Projectile

Launcher) to selected secondary schools in Benguet.

This program is the application of a

research study on projectile motion

which is fundamental to many

engineering designs. Any engineered

design that includes a projectile, an

object in motion close to the Earth's

surface subject to gravitational

acceleration, requires an understanding

of the physics involved in projectile

motion.

This laboratory equipment is intended

for Junior and Senior High School Physics subject. It is explicitly designed for students to

understand and experience the theories and principles of projectile motion. Students can perform

different experiments to understand projectile motion better and see the actual behavior of a

projectile using the equipment.

On July 20, 2018, AC Baguio, together with US Embassy Manila Cultural Affairs Officer Matt

Keener and delegates visited Baguio City National High School for the official launching and

turnover of the projectile motion equipment to the School.

as the Thinkerspace DIY Challenge,

Photo Contest, Library Top Stakeholder, Circathon,

Quiz Bee and “funmazing” games. The activities aimed to escalate the value of the University Libraries to the stakeholders and encourage them to utilize and maximize the resources

of the University Libraries. The celebration was participated by students from the different schools and was culminated on November 23, 2018 at the American Corner, fourth floor, Vath Libraries giving due recognition to winners and participants.

purposely cater to the specialized research and information needs of the law faculty and students. The said library that has a 75-seating capacity and is currently housed at the fourth floor, Silang building, containing around 7, 500 volumes of book collections including loose periodicals. Section Head Librarian Ms. Irene A. Ata supervises the said Library, who formerly managed the law collections along with other Social Sciences collections, Language, and Pure Sciences at the fifth floor, Vath Libraries.

Recreation of the Periodicals Library The Periodicals Section is the place to visit

when someone needs a journal, a

magazine, a newspaper, or any other serial

literature. A periodical comes out with

regular issues such as a daily newspaper, a

weekly news magazine, a monthly journal,

and an annual book series.

Last March 2018, all loose journals were centrally housed in the Periodicals Section, second floor of Vath Libraries to monitor the utilization of subject materials and in preparation for the forthcoming centralization of all periodical collections.

Centralized Baggage Area Effective October 15, 2018, the University Libraries implemented a Centralized Baggage Area (CBA) at the third floor of Vath Libraries. The said CBA caters to all library clients with bags who will be accessing the Reader Areas from second floor to sixth floor of Vath Libraries. Clients are requested to deposit their bags in exchange for an eco-bag to carry valuables (cellular phones, wallets, and gadgets).

E-RESOURCES UPDATE VITAL SOURCE BRIDGE (Engineering), a cloud-based digital platform of engineering textbooks that deliver educational content from various publishers with
