Ron Raymond’s CFL Newsletter WEEK #5 The CFL is now entering Week 5 and the bookmakers must be getting a bit concern, as the Toronto Argonauts were only ex- pected to win 4.5 games this season and they now sit in Week 5 with 3 wins and could be the CFL East division leaders with a win over Montreal this Thursday night at Molson Stadium. However, if history prevails, Montreal should be sitting on top of the division, because the Argos is 1-7 SU and ATS since 1996 after 3 ATS WINS. Give the Argos credit, they are getting the job done with de- fense and running the football. In fact, when you break down the “plays per game” by the offense in times rushing and passing, the Argos average 51.0 plays per game on offense and 42% of those plays are rushing plays. The tops in the league! The Calgary Stam- peders lead the league in most plays on offense with 61.75 plays per game. It will be interesting to see how patient management will be in Ed- monton should the Eskimos lose this weekend to the BC Lions. The Eskimos are hosting the Grey Cup this year and starting the year 0-4 has put Head Coach Richie Hall on the hot seat. The Montreal Alouettes are my top Power Rating team this week with a 79.5 Power Rating and surprisingly enough; the Bombers are tied with the Calgary Stampeders with 78 points each. The Edmonton Eskimos ranked last with 45.5 points and ranked last in nearly every category except their kicking game.

Toronto (53) vs. Montreal (-10.0) Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Game time : 7 : 30 PM

Ron’s Pick: Montreal -10.0 (2*)

Keys to selection: The Montreal Alouettes are coming off a 37-14 win over the Hamilton Tigercats last Thursday night, but keep it mind, it was 10-6 at halftime and Hamilton mistakes gave Montreal an easy win in the second half. However, this could be trap spot for the Alouettes, they have the Roughriders on deck next week and Toronto is a good defensive team. But, Montreal started the year on the road in their first 3 games out in the western time zone, and now that they had time to reset their body clocks, this could be the Alouettes biggest win of the year vs. an inef-fective Argos offense that have the worst QB rating average in the league. Toronto is 1-9 SU and 2-8-0 ATS as a road underdog vs. Montreal in their last 10 trips to Molson Stadium and Montreal is a perfect 10-0 SU last 10 as a home fave. I look for Montreal to put a lot of pres-sure on Cleo Lemon which will cause turnovers and make Toronto start from 2nd and long too many times.

Here’s a nice Home Favorite betting system on the Alouettes: When ANY CFL Team played as Home team as a Favorite -With 6 day off -Before a non conference game - Coming off a game scored 35 points or more - Coming off a Score 36 - 39 POINTS FOR in last game; the Home Fave is 10-2-1 ATS in this situation since 1996.

Forecast: Montreal 39 Toronto 13

Page 11 Ron Raymond’s CFL Newsletter WEEK #5

Ron’s Pick: BC +1.0 (2*)

Keys to selection: Here are two teams playing desperate football and a lost by either team can make it a long sea-son for one of these Head Coaches Friday Night! The Eskimos and Lions are a combined 1-7 SU on the season and the only win for BC was a 25-10 win against Edmonton in Week 1 at Commonwealth Stadium. In fact, both of these teams have played against three other football teams with winning records, so the schedule has not been kind to the Eskimos and Lions. The Lions are 6-4 SU in their last 10 trips to Commonwealth Stadium and BC is 7-3-0 ATS in their last 10 overall home and away challenges with Edmonton. The Bookmakers have pegged the Eskimos as a -1 point Home Favorite this Friday night and Edmonton is 3-7 -0 ATS in their last 10 in this spot as a Home Favorite. The Eskimos are not getting consistency from their receivers and it’s creating major momentum changes in their games and when your top receivers are dropping touchdown passes, you can’t win football games. In my view, this will be a game about receivers who make the biggest plays, as both teams have good kickers and the Lions have bet-ter ball hawks in the secondary.

Here’s a great CFL Betting system on the Road Dog BC Lions: When ANY CFL Team played as Road team as a Underdog -After a non conference game -Vs Division Opponent -During Week 1 to 4 - Allowed score 24 points or more against; the Road Underdog is 16-3-0 ATS in this situation since 1996.

Hamilton (53.5) vs. Saskatchewan (-7.5) Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Game time : 8 : 00 PM

Ron’s Pick: Hamilton – Saskatchewan: OVER 53.5 (2*)

Keys to selection: The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 3-1 SU on the season, but they could easily be 1-3 on the year! They won in double overtime in Week 1 vs. Montreal, spanked the Lions in Week 2 in their season home opener, hung on for a 24-20 win over Edmonton at home in Week 3 and Calgary made better adjustments at halftime last weekend and handed the Riders a 40-20 lost. Hamilton is a team who will self destruct during a football game. When you review their games this sea-son, they were nose to nose vs. the Bombers in Week 1 then self destructed because they had issues at the right tackle position. They lost in Week 2 to Calgary because of bad coaching deci-sions and then gave Winnipeg a good ole fashion butt kicking in Week 3. Last Thursday in Mont-real, the Tigercats were in a position to make a move vs. a tired Alouettes team, but self de-structed in the second half. Now, they are travelling to Riderville to face a team who will be look-ing ahead to next week vs. Montreal. If the Tigercats can jump on the Riders early and sucker punch them with a few majors, this one will turn into a shutout! Lets’ hope there’s no wind in the prairies this weekend, as I’m expecting fireworks on the scoreboard!

Here’s a nice trend on the OVER; When SASKATCHEWAN team played as a Home team - Coming off a game scored 20 points or less; the OVER is 10-2-0 for the Roughriders in this spot.

Winnipeg (57.0) vs. Calgary (-7.0) Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Game time : 9 : 30 PM

Ron’s Pick: UNDER 57.0 (5* CFL GAME OF THE WEEK)

Keys to selection: Maybe the CFL Game of the Week, as you have the (2-2) Winnipeg Blue Bombers travelling to Calgary (3-1) to take on the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. The Stampeders are in your classic letdown situation; they beat up on the Roughriders last weekend and have the 1-3 Lions on deck next weekend. Winnipeg has not done well in Calgary in their last 10 trips to McMahon Stadium, they are 2-8 SU and 3-7-0 ATS and they are 3-7 SU in their last 10 overall road games. Calgary is 8-1-1 SU in their last 10 games at home and they are 8-2 SU vs. teams from the Eastern Division in their last 10. When you look at the matchup in this game, you have two teams who can stop the run and the Bombers have the best punter in the league with Renaud who can pin you deep and make your team start from long drives to score. I’m expecting each coach to focus on making the other team start deep in their zone and that will force each team to be conservative and that makes the UNDER the call this week as my 5* CFL GAME OF THE WEEK.

CFL betting trend on the UNDER; The UNDER is 9-2-0 for the Stampeders as a home favorite after playing the Roughriders and it’s 13-3-0 as a home team.
