Volume 1 Issue 16 July 21, 2020 Boxed Lunches Coming to an End Last Day, August 2, 2020 The dining room began serving daily boxed lunches in the Nicholson Center back in March as a way to help mitigate the need to leave the village for food. We are so thankful that Carl Unger and his team faithfully prepared thousands of meals weekly so that we wouldn’t have to visit the grocery as much as we normally would. However, with the gradual opening of restaurants and loosening restrictions, the need to keep the dining room open has diminished. It was decided that the last day for the boxed lunch program will be Sunday, August 2, 2020. We cannot thank Carl and his magnificent team enough for their unwavering support of the Village during these past months. That being said, please consider dropping oa thank you card to the whole dining room crew to show your appreciation for their great service to us this summer. We will look forward to the reopening of the Nicholson Center dining hall in November. Thanks again Carl and great job with all of the wonderful meals you prepared! Boxed Lunches Coming to an End Last Day, August 2, 2020

The dining room began serving daily boxed lunches in the Nicholson Center back in March as a way to help mitigate the need to leave the village for food. That being said, please consider dropping off a thank you card to the whole dining room crew to show your appreciation for their great service to us this summer. We will look forward to the reopening of the Nicholson Center dining hall in November. Thanks again Carl and great job with all of the wonderful meals you prepared!

Remembering Dianne McKinney July 18th, 2020 Services for Dianne McKinney were held Saturday, July 18, at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church. Dianne moved to Wesleyan Village in 2014. It was here that she met John McKinney who had just returned from Africa. They were married on June 15, 2015, and soon he joined her in various church ministries. They enjoyed kayaking and camping together. Dianne's health declined during the past six months as she dealt with a series of heart attacks and strokes. She went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2020.

It’s Hard to Say Goodbye! This past week, another long term resident left Wesleyan Village for the last time to be with her family in Pennsylvania. Millie Yarnell came with her husband Earl in 1990 and became involved in many activities almost immediately. Many of you will remember Millie when she ran the dining hall. She was very proud of her work there and especially her salad bar! Earl passed away in 2017, but Millie decided to remain in the Village that she loved. She leaves us with a heavy heart but is looking forward to having her family close to her. We love you and will miss you Millie!

Tuesday Update 2

Bulletin Board Nature Trail Private Property Signs

Many of you may have noticed new “Private Property” signs that are at each entrance to the Nature Trail. Please note this does not apply to Wesleyan

Village residents and their guests. We simply want to make sure the trail is not being used by those outside our Village. Continue to enjoy God’s beautiful creation as you ride down the path!

Office is Open We have opened the Wesleyan Village office lobby. Residents are able to come into the office lobby to conduct their business. We have restrictions in place, however, including required masks, social distancing at all times, as well as the use of hand sanitizers when entering and leaving the lobby. There will be a maximum of 2 visitors allowed at a time.

The Library - Hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Pool - Pool is open daily but reservations are required. Strict guidelines are in place at the entrance for pool usage including RESIDENTS ONLY !

Grocery Service With the closing of the Nicholson Center dining hall, we understand that some of our folks may need some assistance in getting groceries. We are compiling a list of folks in the Village who would be available to shop and deliver your groceries for a small fee. In addition, they may be able to take you to doctor’s appointments or other errands. Please note that this is not an official Village service, and the details will be worked out between the shopper and the resident. At this time, we have a newer member, Denise McAdams, who is first on the list! Her number is 602-413-0710. In addition, if you are interested in being on the list of available helpers, or would like to be put in touch with a helper, please call Todd in the Village office.

Our Newest Bus Driver! Our new bus has a new driver! John Cadell passed all requirements for his CDL and received his license. He is the first of several drivers that we will have available for activities and trips in our fantastic new bus. We appreciate the time he took to study and take the exam. If you would like to see yourself in the driver’s seat, please call the office and speak to Todd; we will get you started on obtaining your license. We would like as many available drivers as possible so we still need your help. Thanks

again John! We look forward to having you drive us this Fall!

Tuesday Update 4

From the Office of the President The hot days of Florida continue to roll along unabated. These are very interesting days as we listen to the news about the economy, civil unrest throughout the nation, the breakdown of civility from national leaders both Democrat and Republican, and then COVID-19 entered our vocabulary. We cannot agree about COVID-19. Wear a mask don’t wear a mask, have church don’t have church, some states quarantine travelers who enter their state and some don’t, the medical experts can’t agree and politicians point fingers at each other over a variety of issues which deal with COVID-19. People question the numbers of COVID-19 cases and deaths presented by the states and the CDC. As many of you know, the number of positive cases of COVID-19 has risen in Florida and Hernando County and more public places are adjusting

their policies

This array of issues related to COVID-19, including the rise of cases in Florida, provides challenges for persons in leadership. The Wesleyan Village Management team is weekly assessing our approach to the pandemic. Therefore, please note the following adjustments to some of our activities.

1. Please, remember the Elliott Center is closed. Some residents completely disregard the fact that the Elliott Center is closed expect for access to the mailboxes and the Library (Monday-Friday 9:00-11:00pm).

2. Effective July 22, 2020 all persons using the Elliott/Nicholson Centers will be required to use masks.

3. Fitness Center and Swimming Pool, use at your own risk per posted guidelines.

4. Regarding the Sacred Assembly, we will continue to work hard to have safety precautions in place and therefore will continue meeting. If you are uncomfortable with gathering, we encourage you to shelter in place.

The above guidelines may not be what you think are necessary or appropriate. However, our goal is to keep Wesleyan Village residents as safe as possible. I cannot, nor do we plan to, monitor compliance for the guidelines. I have confidence in you to do what is right per the general guidelines which are in place. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

To meet a need for our residents on March 18, 2020, the Nicholson Center Dining Room began serving lunches seven days a week and later adjusted the meal service to three days a week. A decision has been made to discontinue the meal effective August 2, 2020. During this time, over 10,000 meals have been served. I appreciate the leadership of Carl Unger, the cooks, and the many volunteers who have made this service possible. Thank you for a job well done.

Now is a good time to share how great our God is. I Timothy 6: 15b-16, “God, the blessed and only ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, who alone is immortal and who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.” Praise be to God!

BE SAFE. May God bless and keep you.
