San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar Colleges have been working closely with the San Diego Unified School District to expand faculty to faculty partnerships beyond course to course articulation agreements to build sector specific outreach events for students. These events bring SDUSD students to the college campuses to experience hands on workshops, presentations, and tours.

SDCCD, UC San Diego Receive Combined $2.7M from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a combined $2.7M to SDCCD and UC San Diego to continue support for the Preparing Accomplished Transfers to the Humanities (PATH) Program in collaboration with UC San Diego. The award period is January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2023.

SDCCD Students Study Abroad in Cusco and Madrid
Canvas Certifications & Workshops
Eighteen instructors have completed the necessary requirements for the Online Faculty Certifications Program since January 2020. Ten workshops have welcomed 90 faculty, with 16 more workshops scheduled throughout the spring semester.

Instructional Services Hosts Higher Education Afghan DelegationOn February 7, 2020, the San Diego Diplomacy Council arranged for a collaborative meeting between 16 delegates of higher education administrators from Afghanistan to discuss accreditation preparedness. After the meeting, the delegation took part in a guided tour of San Diego City College.

During the winter 2020 term, 39 students from SDCCD colleges participated in Study Abroad programs in Cusco, Peru and Madrid, Spain. Students took Spanish and Art classes, learned about local cultures, went on cultural excursions, and developed their global learning skills.
Enhancement Made to CanvasOn Tuesday, February 4th, Canvas released the ability to indicate gender pronouns in the learning management system. The Online and Distributed Learning Department activated this feature Districtwide to help enhance the Canvas user experience.
