The Youthful ''Bill" Bawden, our Butte Bearcat, has taken to the pursuit of lighter fantastic frivolities. Considerable truth lies in the fact that he should buy the cigars, but hesitates on the ground of extreme di.:ffitu1ties in determining the natn.re of his status during Leap -Year. Alpha Gamma Delta has not as yet announced bis as a pledge, but we are glad to assume that obligation to the general multitude. For a long time we were under the impression that he was the chief contender for the M. S. C. .....noos chewing honors, but now we understand that he bas dropped his course in that venerable art in fa\·or of the pursuit of unwary pledge pins. For this is Leap Year, you know, am] the Shoe is on the other foot, givw ing "Bill" his much wanted opportunity for displaying his wares. And it was a big job; nothing but fight-the real kind-could

have stood the strain of it. Seven hard games in as many nights with six of them Bobcat victories is a record of which to be proud-a xecord envied by other teams-a record to think about!! Those boys are real fighters-every one of them holding true Bobcat spirit and loyalty to M. S. C. in their heart.

Vile ha\·e heard about fickle women but the best story in ages came across as one of the outcroppings of the Senior Dance Friday night. Now, it's alJ right when a fellow takes a girl to a dance on leap year and she hands birn over her pin. But when the poor fellow takes the girl and then she blandly proposes to a fraternity

Daffodils and Tulips It is our misfortune that we cannot in some appropriate man

ner show our appreciation to these boys who, in their turn, have done so very much for us. Theirs has been a great service, but what can we do to show them how utterly grateful we are? There seems nothing big enough, for if there were, we'd be doing it! But let's show 'em, at least, that we're with 'em 100 per cent, and always will be!!! NINE FOR THE BOBCATS!!

That is the question which practically every young man and every young woman asks himself or herself when the time comes to get a college education. It is the problem of finance during those four years while securing a bit from the vast collection of lmowledge humanity possesses that constitutes the major problem of the college and university student.

Suggestions were called for at a meeting of the men students of the institution Friday morning at a special assembly. Perhaps a workable plan would be the formation of an employment bureau to be conducted in conjunction with the college. This bureau would have the task of securing part-time jobs for students during the college year, and would in addition place as many of the students on summer or vacation jobs as possible.

The problem of student employment calls for co-operation. It is a problem of making a connection between the employers and the prospective employees. Can we do ,it?

COMMERCIALIZING SCHOOL JOURNALISM

Is the time coming when the editors of college papers will have to pay people to write the articles they print? For some years it has bee'1 the observation of college journalists that the publishing of a ~allege paper is a one or two-man job, and a man killing one. Co'.!Pge sttidents have not the interest in school papers that they displayed in their high school days. At the beginning of the year, numerous applicants for positions on the staff beseach the editor for an opportunity to be a reporter. Fraternity ambitions may hav1' "')>r.«thing to do with their eagerness to serve. At any rate they "' e ears for work until the time the staff is announced and fo·oY E:.;c-_wd in getting their name on the list of the fortunate.

Suddenly the editor and one or two of th ,1o'"e willing members of the staff find themselves writing 90 l '": tent of the copy printed. No matter how small the paper, this ia a task which taxes the ability of men who are already busy with outside work, studies, and their regular qw ta of duties incident to the weekly appearance of the paper.

Perhaps the editors of ome of our contemporaries are finding themselves in such a quandry. At any rate there seems to be a movement on foot to commncialize college paper journalism.
