locationThe main idea for the location was the summer and winter X-Games and Volcom Surf competition Pipe Pro in Hawaii. The record attendance is 83500 people and as Volcom prides on their recycling part of the company this would be the big step forward to encourage people to recycle. The specif-ic location ic location would be by the bars, restau-rants and any other food-selling facilities. Due to a past-present project Volcom is in-volved in, there would be special bins for recycling your apparel and/or shoes and as a reward the company gives you 10% dis-count on your next purchase. The project has been running for past year in selected stores but has a potential to go further and closer to public by introducing it on compe-titions

Researchfestival no.1“The fourth annual Volcom Pipe Pro, an ASP 5-Star World Qualify-ing Series (WQS) event, is setting up for another exciting showdown at the Banzai Pipeline. The 2013 con-test period is from January 27th to February 7th, and with less than a week to go, the 112 warriors are getting ready for battle at one of the most dangerous waves on the planet. They will be fighting for $130,000 USD in prize money and valuable ratings points to kick off the 2013 season.

The Volcom Pipe Pro is an extra special event for the local Hawai-ian competitors, being that it is a chance for non-World Tour surf-ers to gain entry into the prestig-ious Pipe Masters. The top eight Hawaiian competitors in the Volcom Pipe Pro will be rewarded with local seeds into the 2013 event, which is part of the Triple Crown series and wraps up the tour for the year.” Volcompipe-pro.com

As the competition takes place in Hawaii the bin needs to be resist-ant to high temperatures, cannot wrinkle nor change the shape. It would also be placed next to the restaurants and bars through the whole length of the beach. The most suimost suitable material would be chemical compound- polypropyl-ene, has the melting point set on 16 degrees, is resistant to scratch-es due to fair hardness, the colour doesn’t fade on the sunlight and is easy to transfer from one place to another as the weight is compara-ble to other recycling bins.

Researchfestival no.2Another festival/competition would be The X-Games that take the place in Barcelona for the summer part and Aspen for the winter. The X Games gained media exposure due to their big name sponsors, top-tier athletes and consistent fan attend-aance. According to ESPN (2008); The Winter X Games inaugural year, 1997, was televised to 198 countries and 38,000 spectators attended the four day event. In 1998, the attend-ance dropped to 25,000 spectators. But just two years later, a record attendance of 83,500 people attended the Winter X Games' East Coast debut. The X Games and Winter X Games continue to grow with the popularity of action sports and the athletes who compete in them. The Interactive Village is described by EESPN (2008) as the designated X Games Sponsor Booth area. It is usually located by the main entrance of the event and it offers activities for attending fans.

Activities include scheduled auto-graph signings, giveaways for spectators, athlete demos, climb-ing walls, video game experienc-es, and the chance to try new and upcoming products that are presented by sponsors. This area exists at both the X Games and Winter X Games.

As everybody is trying to pro-mote what is theirs, here comes Volcom with their new recycling program aimed now on clothes, shoes, paper, plas-tics, glass and cans. And that’s where boring recycling points come in. Four sides and a flat top has now changed for bins in shape of the VOLCOM STONE LOGO.

Materialspolypropylene

Polypropylene is a plastic polymer with the chemical formula C3H6. It is used in many different settings, both in industry and in consumer goods, and it can be used both as a structural plastic and as a fiber. This plastic is often used for food containers, par-tticularly those that need to be dish-washer safe

Research is ongoing with polypropyl-ene, as makers experiment with differ-ent methods for synthesizing it. Some of these experiments yield the promise of exciting new types of plastic, with new consistencies and a different feel from the fairly rigid version that most people are used to. These new elastic versions are very rubbery, making them even more resistant to shattering and opening up many different uses for an already pervasive plastic.

The melting point of polypropyl-ene is very high compared to many other plastics, at 320°F (160°C), which means that the hot water used when washing dishes will not cause dishware made from this plastic to warp. TThis contrasts with polyethylene, another popular plastic for con-tainers, which has a much lower melting point. Polypropylene is also very easy to add dyes to, and it is often used as a fiber in carpeting that needs to be rugged and durable, such as that for use around swimming pools or on miniature golf cours-es. Unlike nylon, which is also often used as a fiber for rugged carpeting, it doesn't soak up water, making it ideal for uses where it will be constantly sub-ject to moisture

Materialsaluminium

Aluminium is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is silvery white, and it is not soluble in water under normal circumstances.AAluminium is the third most abun-dant element, and the most abun-dant metal, in the Earth's crust. It makes up about 8% by weight of the Earth's solid surface. Alumini-um metal is so chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited to extreme reducing envi-ronments. Instead, it is found com-bined in over 270 different miner-als.[5] The chief ore of aluminium is bauxi
