Cheongsin Village women sing and dance while holding a blue cloth, which represents the sea, in their
hands.
Mask Dance The village chief wearing a mask performs a dance that conveys the wish for a good harvest.
Soenoreum ‘Soe’ means Kkwaenggwari (small gong), and Soenoreum is an ensemble of wind instruments
such as Piri, Daegeum, Haegeum and Taepyeongso led by a Kkwaenggwari player.
Jindo Drum
Dance It is a group performance by women who dance while beating drums with two sticks.
Chaesang Sogo
Dance
It is a male solo dance in which the performer dances while beating on Sogo (small hand-held
drum) and demonstrating the acrobatic skill of twirling around the long white strip attached to
his hat.
Pan Gut
Performers dance and play musical instruments including Kkwaenggwari, Janggu (double-
headed drum with narrow waist in the middle), Buk (drums), Jing (gong) and Sogo, acting out
the scene of a feast.

About the
museum
The museum shows the ancient history and culture of Seoul with focus on the era during which the city was called
Hanseong and ruled by Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms. It exhibits relics of Seoul from the prehistoric period,
the Baekje period in which the city grew as an East Asian hub, and the Gogyuryeo and Silla periods that
subsequently followed it.

explains the history of the development of human culture with ancient tools.
Exhibition Hall 1 Stories from paleolithic, neolithic, bronze and early iron era civilizations in the Hangang

Exhibition Hall 2 The hall focuses on the 489 years during which Seoul was the capital of Baekje in the name
of Hanseong. It was a period of growth and affluence.
