Hey, kids! Do you have a song in your heart that's just waiting to get out? If you do, we have the perfect idea for you! This summer, we will be having a musical celebration just for you. All children from age 3 through 6th grade are invited. We will be meeting at the church in the mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 from July 5th-July 8th. We will sing, play bells, and have a great time praising God all week, then perform at the worship service on Sunday, July 10th. Bring your friends! Please fill out this form and leave it in the church office or call (or text) me, Mary Hunter, at 620-285-9775 by July 3rd to get your name on the list. If your parents are interested in helping, have them call me! Thanks!
Name ____________________ Age _____ Grade in school next year _______ Parents' name ___________________ Phone Number ________________ Address ________________________ Email _______________________ Do you play any instruments that you would like to have included in our plans? We would love to have you play. Please list them here:
Now that everyone is beginning to
memorize our mission/vision statement, or
at least getting the gist of it, it is time not
only to make this a reality in our church,
which we are doing in many ways, but it is
time for all of us to begin to embody this
calling which God has given us. We want
this statement to be more than just words
on a page, because we believe that God is
calling us to make it flesh and blood by the
way that we live our daily lives.
What I would encourage all of you to do
to begin to make our mission/vision a real-
ity is to spend about 5 minutes a day going
over our mission statement praying that 1) God will help you to bring heaven to earth in all that
you do, and 2) for God to use you to inspire ordinary people to live extraordinary lives for Christ.
I think you will be surprised how this little extra commitment will not only help our church
to thrive, but will begin to transform you and your life according to God’s purposes!

“The Great Bend Christian” July 2016
Dear Congregation,
Eighteen years ago
when this church was
built, the wrong underlay-
ment was used beneath
the tile on the roof. As a
result of this mistake, we
have continued to experi-
ence leaks in many differ-
ent parts of our church .
In the past 18 years we
have done all that we can to protect our structure by having many of the most
problematic places fixed first, which included the new installment of underlay-
ment for the whole church except the sanctuary.
We believe it is time to finish this work by having a new underlayment put
on for the sanctuary. To put this need off any longer is simply delaying the inevi-
table, and in the end will just cost us more money.
To accomplish this important goal, we are beginning a
year-long capital campaign starting this June and running
through June 2017 to raise $90,000, which we estimate,
will completely pay for this work to be done.
We are going to be asking all of you for your help to
accomplish this goal as quickly as possible by dedicating
yourselves to giving above and beyond your normal tithe to
make this repair a reality. We believe, as this church has
shown in times past, that if we will all dedicate ourselves to
doing what we can, we will have the money raised to take
care of this issue in no time.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this
issue please feel free to contact Pastor Josh or our Prop-
erty Chair Bob Hiss.
Grace and Peace,
FCC Board

Why Should God's People Give?
1. GIVING IS AN OBLIGATION
In the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 14:22-29; Haggai 1:1-11; Malachi 3:7-12) and in the New Testament (Romans 12:13; Galatians 2:10; Hebrews 13:16; 1 John 3:17), the people of God are commanded to give for certain needs. Failing to give for such causes, when one is able, is therefore an act of disobedience. Not all
giving is required, however (see Leviticus 7:16; 2 Corinthians 8:1-15).
2. GIVING IS A PRIVILEGE
The churches of Macedonia were models of generosity in giving, even though they were poor. They gladly gave out of gratitude toward God and love for their brethren (2 Corinthians 8 and 9; see espe-cially 8:4, 9). Paul reminds us of Jesus' teaching that "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
3. GIVING IS ONE DIMENSION OF OUR STEWARDSHIP
Very often Jesus spoke of the stewardship of His people in terms of money (see Luke 16:1-13). Our faithfulness as stewards in this "little thing" of money has a bearing on what other (and greater) re-sponsibilities we will be given (see Luke 16:9-12).
4. GIVING IS AN ACT OF WORSHIP
The Old Testament saints could only approach God in worship with a sacrifice, and this sacrifice was a contribution, whether whole or in part. In the New Testament, contributions were also described as sacrifices offered up in worship (see Hebrews 9:1-10; 10:1-25; 13:10-16).
5. GIVING IS AN INVESTMENT
Jesus encouraged believers to give in order to "lay up treasure in heaven" (Matthew 6:19-21). Invest-ing earthly money in the advancement of the Kingdom of God is one way in which we can lay up spiri-tual treasure in heaven (see Luke 16:1-13).
6. GIVING IS AN ACT OF SELF-SACRIFICE
All Christian service should be a sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2). In giving, we should not seek man's praise, but God's (Matthew 6:2-4). We should not give with the hope of getting ahead in this life, but with the faith that God will reward us in heaven (Luke 14:12-14). We should not give under pressure, but will-ingly and cheerfully, with gratitude for God's grace to us, according to our ability (2 Corinthians 8 and 9).
7. GIVING IS AN EXPRESSION OF BROTHERLY LOVE
Giving is an expression of brotherly love and of Christian unity. The principle is set down in texts such as Matthew 25:31-46; Luke 3:11; Romans 12:13; James 2:15-17 and 1 John 3:15-18. The practice of this principle is seen in Acts 2:42-47; 4:32-35; 11:27-30; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; Philippians 4:14-19.
