The e-Extension has the potential to transform traditional farming into precision farming. The KVKs are poised to take advantage of advanced technology for e-Extension. Republic DayOn 26.01.2020 71st Indian Republic day was celebrated at KVK administration building. Dr.E.Karuna Sree, Principal Scientist & Head, has hosted the flag and mentioned that, on this day in 1950, the esteemed constitution came into effect and India was declared an independent republic country. Teaching, non teaching staff and farm workers were took part of the celebration.

Energy Efficiency programme was conducted at KVK Training hall, Dr. B. Srinivasulu, DE, Dr.YSRHU has attended as chief guest and addressed the farmers on protection of natural resources, usage of petrol & diesel should be reduced & go for renewable energy sources. drip irrigation, solar power & solar pumps. The disturbances in the climate can be reduced by planting trees & protecting natural resources which makes available to the future generations also. A pamphlet entitled on “importance of renewable energy resources” was released

during the workshop. Technical sessions on Energy Efficiency and Energy conservation measures, water & soil conservation measures, Rain water harvesting structures, energy efficiency for sustainable agriculture, Usage of micro irrigation (Drip & Sprinklers irrigations) for water consumption in Agriculture & Horticulture crops. This program has been sponsored by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), APSECM, Andhra Pradesh.

Distribution of Bee boxesOn 26.01.2020 Distributed Bee boxes under Integrated Bee Development Centre (IBDC) project & ICAR - Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) to the FPG members in W.G & E.G districts. In this programme Sri Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice-Chancellor (FAC) and Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. of A.P has attended as chief guest and participated the gathering. Dr.B.Srininvaslu, Director of Extension explained about the objectives of IBDC and importance of honey bees in agriculture.

Awareness programme on District Agro Met Unit (DAMU)On 30.01.2020 One day Farmer’s Training and Awareness programme on District Agro Met Unit (DAMU). In this programme, Dr.B.Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr.YSRHU attended as chief guest and explained the objectives of DAMU project, importance of weather factors in agriculture, mode of transfer of agro advisories to the farmers and advised the farmers.

Technical Review and VisitOn 01-02-2020, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Scientific staff along with Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, had visited Integrated Farming Systems developed by KVK at Koyanagampalem Village of Polavaram Mandal and interacted with farmers. Suggested to implement as many programs in one village for developing as model cluster so that it could be more visible to others.

On 28.02.2020, Wokshop on “Strategies for Management of Rugose Whitefly in Coconut” was conducted at KVK, V.R.Gudem in collaboration with Coconut Development Board (CDB), Dr.Y.S.R.Horticultural University and Department of Horticulture. In this programme Sri. Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice-Chancellor, Dr.YSRHU & Commissioner of Horticulture, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh participated as chief guest and addressed the gathering on effective management of whitefly infestation in Coconut & Oil palm and advised the farmers to adopt integrated pest management

practices against RSW and also stressed on the importance of cultivation of multiple cropping systems. Dr.R.V.S.K.Reddy, Director of Research, Dr.YSRHU explained about the research and development activities of Dichochysa sps and Isaria fumosorosea against RSW and advised the farmers do not go for insecticidal application in Whitefly affected gardens. In this programme Shri.Saradindu Das,Chief Coconut Development Officer, CDB, Kochi, Smt.T.Bala Sudhahari, Director, CDB, Chennai, Dr.M.L.N.Reddy, Dean of PG Studies, Dr.A.Sujatha, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr.B.V.K.Bhagawan, Zonal Research Head, Coastal Zone – 1, Dr.YSRHU also participated. Dr.P.Kalidas, Principal Scientist (Ento.), IIOPR, Pedavegi, Dr.N.B.V.Chalapathi Rao, Principal Scientist, HRS, Ambajipeta, Dr.YSRHU presented the technical sessions.

Inauguration of Coconut Dehuking Machine

Inauguration of Dehusking Machine for CoconutsOn 09-03-2020, Inauguration of Demo coconut dehusking machine was done by Sri. Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice Chancellor, Commissioner of Horticulture, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. About 30 farmers have participated and learned the dehusking mechanism and feedback was collected. In this program, Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr. R.V.S.K. Reddy, Director of Research, Dr. A. Sujatha, Dean of student affairs, Sri. Ratna Kishore, PRO, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, and teaching staff of KVK have participated.

Stocking of new improved fish varieties

A project on “Growth and performance of improved fish varieties i.e. Improved Catla, Jayanthi Rohu and Amur Common Carp” funded by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) launched and fish seed has brought from the National Fisheries Brood Bank (NFBB) Development Ceter, Orrisa and stocked on 10.01.2020 in KVK instructional farm and farmer fields at Ravigudem, Reddygnapavaram, and Yarraiguem of Buttaiahgudem Mandal, West Godavari Dist.

On 23.01.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), conducted Method demonstration

on Installation of yellow tarpaulin sheets and spraying of Azadirachtin 10,000 ppm @ 1 ml/L along with detergent powder @ 10 g/L against RSW in Venkataramannagudem village.

SERP Review MeetingOn 04.02.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), attended review meeting on Progress of SERP - APRIGP trainings and demonstrations for the year 2019-20 conducted by SERP, Govt of Andhra Pradesh.

Apairy Unit

On 11.02.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), visited Apiary unit at Tirumalampalem village and identified infestation of wax moth and varroa mite and suggested suitable remedial measures.

Survey WorkOn 18-02-2020, A survey was conducted in Koyya Nageampalem village for studying their economic status of the farmers, major farming (Agriculture and Horticultural crops) and other allied activities in order to adopting and developing as model village. Dr. V.Deepthi, Scientist (Agri.Extension) and Dr. U. Shiva Kumar, Research Associate, (SSAC), was involved in this program.

Inauguration of Goat shed at IFSGoat shed was inaugurated as demostration unit in Integrated farming system model by Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr.YSRHU, VRGudem in the august presence of Dr.J.V. Prasad, Nodal Officer, ATARI, Hyderabad on 11.03.2020. In this program, Dr.E.Karuna sree, Dr.T. Vijaya Nrimala, Dr. A.Devivaraprasad Reddy, Dr. Venkata Subbaiah, G. Shali Raju, Dr. V.Deepthi, Dr.Shiva kumar, Sri. J. Satish Kumar along with the farmers has participated in the program.

Organic FarmingSeven day’s skill training programme on ‘organic farming’ from 27.01.2020 to 02.02.2020 was conducted under STRY (ATMA) funds. Trainees learned preparation of various organic formulations and visited organic fields at dommeru, village as part of the training programme. Dr.V.Deepthi, Scientist (Ag. Ext.), corodnated the program.

ASCI Program on Aquaculture WorkerAgricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI) skill training program for a period of 25 days from 17.02.2020 to 12.03.2020 to the rural youth on the job role “Aquaculture Worker” was conducted. Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr.YSRHU inaugurated the program on 17.02.2020 and stressed on importance of fish and shrimp in human health, export earnings, and better management during farming practices. Dr. J.V. Prasad, Principal Scientist & Nodal Officer, ATARI, Hyderabad and Dr. B. Srinivasulu, DE, Dr.YSRHU has interacted with the participants on 11.03.2020. The participants have expressed about the usefulness of the present training program. During the valedictory program, Dr.E. Karunasree, Principal Scientist & Head, KVK has stressed on improvement of skill for management of fish and shrimp farms. The program was coordinated by Dr. A.Devivaraprasad Reddy, Scientist (Fishery Science) and Dr. T. Vijaya Nirmala, Scientist (Vety. Science).

Horticultural Practical TrainingFour days paid training was conducted to the students of Government Degree College (A), Rajahmundry on “Horticulture Practical Training” from 17-02-2020 to 20-02-2020. In this program, Dr. Sri Hari, Dean of Horticulture, Dr. YSRHU and Dr. B.Ravindra Babu, Senior Scientist (Horticulture), HRS, VRGudem and Dr. A.V.D. Dorajee Rao, Professor, Department of Floriculture, COH, VRGudem taught on different aspects like propagation techniques in horticultural crops, Hi Tech nursery and poly house cultivation and gardening and landscape architecture etc. and also shared their vast experience with students. Practical skills like grafting in Jack fruit, Mango, nursery were imparted by Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture).

ASCI Program on MushroomGrowerCondcuted twenty five day’s skill training programme on ‘Mushroom grower’ from 28.02.2020 to 23.03.2020 with the support of ASCI and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-X, Hyderabad. A total 20 Rural youth & women were participated in the training programme. Cultivation methods of different types of mushrooms. On 23.03.2020 Dr. E. Karuna Sree, PS & Head, participated as chief guest for valedictory session and explained about the nutritional importance of mushrooms and cultivation of mushrooms as an income generating enterprise. The program was coordinated by Sri. G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Ento.) & Master Trainer (Mushroom grower) and Dr.K. Venkata Subbaih, Scientist (Horti).

Fish Preservation and Value Added AquaproductsThree days skill development training program on “Fish Preservation and Value added aqua products” from 05.03.2020 to 07.03.2020 sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad was conducted. Preservation techniques including traditional and modern methods, preparation of value added aqua products were taught. Dr.B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension participated in the valedictory program, as Chief Guest and addressed the participants about the importance of preservation to avoid post-harvest losses and maintaining quality till it reaches table. He stressed the marketing and entrepreneurship development. Program was coordinated by Dr. E. KarunaSree, Principal Scientist & Head, Dr. A.Devivaraprasad Reddy, Scientist, Dr.T. Vijaya Nirmala, Scientist has coordinated the program.

Bee KeepingOrganised seven days skill Training to Rural youth on Beekeeping from 13.02.2020 to 19.02.2020 with the

support of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Eluru, West Godavari. On 19.02.202 Dr.B.Srinivasulu, Director of Extension participated as chief guest for the valedictory program and addressed the importance of Honey bees in Pollination of crops, FPOs for the marketing of honey and other products. Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), has co-ordinated the programme.

Millet ProcessingConducted five skill trainings on “Millet processing” to mandal level SHG members of Gopalpuram, Dwarakatirumala at Buttaigudem, Jeelugumalli

Demonstration of Fertigation in OilpalmOn 04-01-2020, Demonstration of fertigation by supplying venturies to small and marginal oil palm tribal farmers for “Fertigation in oil palm” was conducted by KVK, Venkataramannagudem in co-ordination with Dr. M. V. Prasad, Principal Scientist (Agri. Extension) from IIOPR, pedagvegi. Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticutlure) coordinated the program.

Management of Fall Army WormOn 21.01.2020 & 22.01.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), attended training programme on Management of Fall Army Worm (FAW) at Jaggannapeta and Veerampalem villages as a resource person organised by Department of Agriculture & ATMA, West Godavari District and explained about Integrated Pest Management Practices of Fall Army Worm (FAW).

Management of Sheep & Goat Rearing under ARYAOn 09.01.2020 Conducted training program on “Scientific management practices of sheep and goat rearing” to the farmers of Buttaigudem Mandal and distributed seven units of Nellore brown sheep and Osmanabadi goats under Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture (ARYA) project. Dr.T.Vijaya Nirmala, Scientist (Veterinary Science) has coordinated the training program.

Training programs organised....Soil Health Cards Distribution and Importance

On 19-02-2020, Attended training cum awareness program on “Soil health cards scheme and importance of soil test based fertilizer application” at Jalipudi panchayat. Dr. Gosia Begum, JDA, attended as chief guest and delivered speech on importance of soil test based fertilizer application to retain soil health.

Propagation Techniques and Nursery ManagementTwo days paid training to S.R.R. and C.V.R, Govt. Degree College (A), Vijayawada and Govt. Degree College, Chintalapudi on “Propagation Techniques and Nursery Management in Horticultural crops” on 12.02.2020 to 13.02.2020. Dr. Sri Hari, Dean of Horticulture, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University explained on propagation techniques in

horticultural crops. Practical session on grafting in Jack fruit, Mango , HI tech nursery management were conducted. Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture), conducted the programme.

Acid lime cultivationOn 14-02-2020 Conducted one day training program on “Acid lime cultivation” to acid lime farmers.

AgrometConducted awareness cum training program on District Agromet unit at Ammapalem of Jagareddygudem mandal. About 40 farmers have participated.

Fertilisation Application MethodsOne day training cum awareness programme on fertilizer application methods was conducted at ITDA, KR Puram on 05.03.2020. Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr.YSRHU has attended as Chief Guest for the program along with Sri. V. Surya Narayana, Project Officer ITDA and emphasized the importance of biofertilizers and organic farming in the region. A technical bulletin on ‘Samatula mariyu samagra yeruvula vadakam’ was released. Inputs were distributed to the farmers under ICM Cashew. About 60 farmers have participated.

On 03.01.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), conducted diagnostic visit to the Rugose spiralling whitefly infested guava orchards and suggested Installation of yellow sticky traps, Foliar application of Azadirachtin 10,000 ppm @ 1 ml/L or Neem oil 0.5% along with detergent powder @ 10 g/L, starch powder @ 10 g/lit to remove sooty mould, Release of parasitoids, Encarsia guadeloupae and Foliar application of Isaria fumosorosea @ 1x 10 8 ( 5 g/L) along with sticker.

On 06-01-2020, Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah went to chrysanthemum field for diagnose and found the bacterial wilt problem in the field and suggested application of bleaching powder @2-3 g/L of water and after one week of drenching spray with streptomycin @ 2.5g/10L for management of bacterial wilt in chrysanthemum crop.

On 17.01.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), conducted diagnostic visit to the nematode infested guava fields in Jaggannapeta village, Tadepalligudem Mandal and collected root and soil samples

for identification of nematodes and suggested application of Purpureocillium lilacinum @ 15 g/Plant + Neem cake @ 100 g/plant or carbofuran @ 5 gm/plant with same quantity of sand with sufficient moisture.

On 12.02.2020 Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), conducted diagnostic visit to the Brinjal field and identified brinjal shoot & fruit borer damage and suggested collection and destruction of infested twigs & fruits, Installation of Pheromone traps @ 10/ac and spraying of Profenophos @ 2 ml or thiodicarb @ 1 g per litre of water.

Awareness Program on COVID-19On 20.03.2020 Conducted one day awareness programme on COVID-19. Dr. B. Srinivasulu, Director of Extension, Dr.YSRHU, Dr. Ravi Kumar, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Venkataramannagudem, explained the incidence, spread mechanism of COVID 19, and preventive measures to be taken to avoid the virus. Dr. B. Srinivasulu, DE, has stressed on the importance of diet to combat the virus. He also mentioned about the foods rich in immunity boosters are very helpful. As a part of that, masks were provided to all the participants.

recommended application of salt @ 30 kg /acre in pond and 5 kgs through feed, probiotics supplement through feed, and water sanitizer for improvement of water quality.

On 14.03.2020, Dr.T.Vijaya Nirmala, Scientist (Veterinary Science) attended a case on feather loss of desi birds and diagnosed as mite infestation and suggested treatment with external application of ectoparasiticide Butox liquid @ 1 ml in 2 liters of water weekly once for three weeks.

Improved fodder varieties

Dr. T. Vijaya Nirmala, Scientist (Veterinary Science) and Dr. A. Devivaraparasad Reddy Scientist, has explained about the improved varieties of fodder, fodder cultivation and chaffing of fodder using mechanised chaff cutter to the farmers of Buttaigudem mandal on 20.03.2020.

Amur Common Carp Harvesting

On 20.03.2020. Dr. A. Devivaraprasad Reddy, Scientist (Fishery Science) has visited the farm of Mr. Komala Thata Rao, Thelikicherla for the final harvesting of amur common carp as part of OFT (NFDB pilot project). Amur common carp attained maximum weight of 5.2 kgs and minimum of 2.3 kgs. Famer is very much satisfied and

expressed sincere thanks to the KVK, DrYSRHU, VRGudem for the introduction of new variety, whcih is very much suitable to this area.

PKVY Project on Horticulture produceAs a part of PKVY project, conducted one meeting cum training program on rules and regulations of PKVY project on 20-03-2020. Dr.K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture) and Dr. E. Karina Sree, Principal Scientist and Head stressed about importance of the project and organic cultivation.

ASRB Scientists visitOn 11-03-2020, Agriculture Research Scientists under Field Exposure Training (FET) at IIOPR, Pedavegi, visited KVK demonstration units and also interacted with KVK teaching staff regarding the activities of KVK.

Exposure visit....Polytechnic studentsOn 03-01-2020, Polytechnic college students from RARS, Maruteru have visited the KVK. Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture) took them to different demonstration units viz., Azolla, Vermicompost, poultry, goat and sheep, Carp hatchery, Horticulture nursery, improved vegetable production etc. Dr. R.V.S.K.Reddy, Director of Research, Dr. YSRHU, delivered lecture on introduction of Horticulture and its importance in self employment generation for youth and also interacted with the students.

Odissa state farmersOn 30-01-2020 Farmers from Malkhangiri of Odissa state visited KVK. Dr.V.Deepthi, Scientist (Agricultural Extension) explained about KVK activities, and took them demonstration units.

NABARD OfficialsOn 05.02.2020 NABARD trainee officials from Tamil Nadu has visited to know about KVK activities and demonstration units. Dr.V.Deepthi, Scientist (Agricultural Extension), Sri G Shali Raju (Ento) explained about KVK activities, shown demonstration units.

Prakasam District farmersOn 12-02-2019, Farmers from Kumbum of Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh. Visited KVK demonstration units like azolla unit, Vermicompost unit, poultry shed, sheep shed, improved vegetable plots, Nursery, apiary unit etc.

Odisha state farmersOn 26-02-2020, Odisha farmers visited KVK exposure visit was financed by Deputy Director of Horticulture (DDH), Ganjam and visited KVK demonstration units like Azolla unit, Vermicompost unit, poultry shed, sheep shed, improved vegetable plots, Nursery, apiary unit etc.

On 07-03-2020 Odisha state farmers have visted the KVK. Demonstration units like Azolla unit, Vermicompost unit, Nursery, Improved cultivation demonstration units, Food processing unit, Bio control lab, Apiary unit, Coconut based cropping system, Guava, Mango, Custard apple orchards etc. this visit was coordinated by Dr. K.Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture).

Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Entomology), attended “Farmers science congress” on 6th Jan,2020 at GKVK, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore along with Innovative farmer Sri. Neerukonda Satyanarayana, Dommeru village, west Godavari District on the eve of 107th Indian Science Congress from 03.01.2020 to 07.01.2020, at UAS,Bangalore and presented poster and oral presentation on “Cultivation of multiple crops in organic farming” and received certificate of appreciation from Dr.S.Rajendra Prasad, Honb’le Vice Chancellor, UAS,Bangalore.

Dr. E. Karuna Sree, Principal Scientist and Head, Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Horticulture), participated in National Horticultural Fair (NHF-2020) and arranged exhibition from 5th to 8th February 2020. During this exhibition, Dr. B.M.C.
