Reverend Robert West polls11% in Louth by-election

    by Mike Clayton

THIS was the rst time the BritishNational Party had stood in the

Louth Wolds seat of LincolnshireCounty Council. The vast rural ward spanned thecentre of the Lincolnshire Wolds andit was an excellent effort from thoseBNP activists who accomplished theirmission of delivering a leaet to everyhousehold. The Reverend Robert West wasour excellent candidate and he wasdelighted to beat the UKIP candidate

in a ward they believed they woulddo well in. Other objectives achieved, were to get 10% and to beat the LabourParty yet again which just shows howsupport for the Government party israpidly dwindling in Lincolnshire.

THE news that the BritishNational Party had beaten the

Labour Party in the Henley parlia-mentary by- election was broadcastall around the world. The election itself, even before that

dramatic result had been announced, was attracting global interest andBNP candidate Tim Rait, met up withTamami Kasamatsu at one of the poll-ing stations in Thame as he did somelast minute canvassing.Tamami was from the Legislative

Bureau of the House of Representa-tives in Tokyo and she was in Henleyto act as an observer of our election

process for the Japanese Government. She was very interested in the BNPand was aware of the hostile press

we received and our concerns aboutthe impartiality of some of those con-ducting our elections. She was keen tond out from Tim whether the Party

Nick Grifn meets DouglasTidy at Exeter BNP meeting

AFTER Nick Grifn had addressedover 100 people in Devon, there

was a gentleman in particular thatthe British National Party chairmanwas very keen to meet.Douglas Tidy is probably one of theoldest active members of the BNP andhe was amongst those who packed avillage hall just outside Exeter.

Nick and Douglas chatted for sometime as the distinguished World War IIveteran recalled his war years. At the outbreak of war I was just 16

but joined the Royal Air Force, sayingI was 18. I was sent on deferred ser-vice so read law with a solicitor friendof my Father with a view to becomingan articled clerk. I also guarded fourmiles of Cornish cliff, at rst with a

pick-helve, and then an ancient rieand ve rounds. I wore the uniformof the Local Defence Volunteers withan armband denoting that, and the cap

badge I wore was that of the Duke ofCornwalls Light Infantry. The LDV

later became the Home Guard, whichhas been famously lampooned in thetelevision programme Dads Army. When nally I got into RAF uni-form I was posted to the OperationsRoom at a Fighter Command sectorstation, in 10 Group, at Portreath, inCornwall. Here I ew in my rst RAFtwin-engined aircraft, the Wellington.Although it was a ghter station withSpitres, and Beaughters, Welling-tons were being sent to the MiddleEast via Portreath.

After a distinguished performancein the Battle of Britain, the Squadronwas without aircraft. I was to assistedin running the signals, and the pilotswho had no aircraft of their own werein the Western Desert, ying in a com-

bined 145/74 Squadron with 145saircraft.The meeting itself heard from a rangeof speakers including Mike Turner,Exeter Organiser, Peter Mullins, SWRegional Organiser, Michaela Mack-enzie, Party Support Ofcer, and Law-rence West, a local candidate, before

enjoying a lavish buffet followed by aquestion and answer session with theParty chairman..The meeting was chaired by localBNP councillor Colin Fribbens (BNPParish Councillor) while Chris March-ant lmed the event for BNP TV.

THERE were over 100 people atthe BNP meeting in Wrexham

last month to hear a speech from theBritish National Partys new GLArepresentative Richard Barnbrook.Richard not only detailed the achieve-ments of the Party in London in gen-eral and Barking & Dagenham Branchin particular, but he also explainedhis work within the London Assem-

bly and what he wanted to achieve onbehalf of the people of London. Our success in London has beenachieved by hard work, pure and

simple, he told the audience. Wehave got out and talked and listened tothe public, showing them the real faceof the British National Party and theyhave responded accordingly. He went on to call for this strategy to

be replicated in Wales:Your battle will be won here inWrexham on the doorstep building

up a rapport with voters and showingthem that there is a political party thathas the answers to the problems thiscountry faces.Richard received a standing ovationand was thanked by Bill Murray,Welsh Regional Secretary and NorthWales Organiser for travelling up fromLondon. He reported that during the

meeting several more members had been signed up and another two hadcome forward as potential candidates.Bill then announced the formationof six new and reconstructed groupswithin North Wales: Wrexham, Buck-ley, Prestatyn, Rhyl, Flint, and Alyn &Deeside. With contacts across North Wales wewill soon have the whole of the regioncovered, he said. Adding that this wasa far cry from what the main partieshad predicted, claiming there was no

place for the BNP in Wales!

DAVID Owens, the BritishNational Partys candidatein the Costal ward by-election forBoston District Council, polled over10% of the vote and beat the LabourParty candidate. The local BNP election team washelped by activists from Leicesterand Charnwood who worked hard toraise the prole of the British NationalParty in the villages of Leverton, Ben-ington, Butterwick and Freiston thatmade up the ward.

East Midlands Election Ofcer WayneMcDermott, was happy with the result. We had only contested one seat inBoston before, coming last behindUKIP. This time we beat UKIP and theLabour Party candidate and secured a

respectable vote share. This was no mean achievement inquite a rural ward and has given ourunit in Boston a boost in the run-upto the all important European Parlia-ment and county council electionsnext year.

AFTERFreedom reported on ameeting of Solihull BNP where

the guest speaker, Gill Bailey, spoke about the plight of one ofthe British Armys nest ghtingforces, the Gurkhas, readers ral-lied round to help.Gill, who is 61 years-old, was rais-ing funds for the Gurkhas by doinga sponsored wing-walk whichinvolved standing on the wing of a

plane whilst it was taking off, then

ying around and landing. These men have been abandoned bythe Labour Government after havingserved this country loyally for 200years, she told the meeting.I am a virgin wing walker and mustadmit I am scared silly, but I feel sostrongly about the sad situation these

brave men are in that I feel I have tobanish those fears.Freedoms readers were moved byGills plea and despite the creditcrunch gave nearly 200, all in smalldonations, to her Gurkha appeal. The BNPs candidate for Knowle,Frank OBrien, a charityfundraiser himself and theAssistant Organiser for Soli-hull BNP, explained a littlemore about the Partys char-ity work. Our association with chari-ties such as Troop Aid and

The Gurkha Trust Fund shows theBritish National Party in its true lightas an organisation that looks after theinterests of the British people andthose who loyally serve our country. My involvement began with TroopAid over a year ago, when I foundout, through Ray Warren the TroopAid founder, that the Labour Govern-ment did not give any assistance tothe families of injured soldiers to visitthem at the Selly Oak hospital in Bir-

mingham.Initially I just raised funds myself,

but then I approached our local BNPfundraiser, Alan Ashmore, who is a

prolic charity fund-raiser himself, having raised over 30,000 for theMarie Curie Trust Fund. I arranged ameeting with Ray Warren and now-Alan is raising funds for Troop Aid.Word spread on the local grapevineof the BNPs fundraising potentialand having been approached by GillBailey on behalf of the Gurkha TrustFund, we are now in the process ofhelping these brave soldiers.

He wasa BNP candidate for Tudhoe in theDurham County Council electionsin May, missing out on a seat on thecouncil by just 129 votes.

Now Bishop Auckland Labour MPHelen Goodman, and Roberta Black-man Woods, Labour MP for DurhamCity, are demanding his removal in theinterests of anti-racism and multicul-tural education.I am surprised that the governing

body has appointed someone who wasa candidate for the BNP, Goodman

told the Northern Echo. Woods toldthe same newspaper: Appointmentsat schools should make sure that the

person is able to implement anti-rac-ism policy. But Dr Jane Philbrick, chairwomanof the board of governors at Teesdale

School, is standing up to the Labourbullyboys:We were aware of Mr Walkers polit-ical beliefs from day one. Weve been

pleased with the teaching he has car-ried out for us.He solved a very difcult positionwhere we were struggling to staff par-ticular courses and he has turned thataround. We have much to be gratefulto him for.Adam Walker toldFreedom:Ive really enjoyed my time at theschool and I believe I have made auseful contribution in teaching pupils.I believe this is a political witchhunt by Labour MPs. Im a qualiedteacher but this is all about castigatingme for my political beliefs. On whether Adam Walker would con-

    SCHOOL children will have

compulsory lessons on the slavetrade next term as the Govern-ment seeks to brainwash them intofeeling guilty and hence unwillingto criticise immigration policy.According to a Government brief-ing document one of the aims ofthe switch is to put immigration, the Commonwealth and the legacy

of the Empire into a clear historicalcontext as this will help pupils pre-

pare for life in a diverse and multi-ethnic society.Kevin Brennan, the childrens min-ister, said: Although we may beashamed to admit it, the slave tradeis an integral part of British history. It is inextricably linked to trade, col-

onisation, industrialisation and theBritish Empire. What Brennnan conveniently ignoresis that it was only todays equivalentof big business that beneted fromthe slave trade and that many Brit-ish people were living at the timein conditions just as harsh as thoseexperienced by the slaves.

Labour has betrayed theBritish coal industry

YOU would have thought thata Labour Government wouldhave taken great pride in rebuildingBritains coal industry after it hadbeen devastated by the Tories, butnothing could be further from thetruth. In 1997 when they came to power,Labour promised it would halt thedecline of the coal industry butthe following list of closures bearstestament to a catalogue of betrayal.

PITS CLOSED IN 1998:Silverdale, Monktonhall.PITS CLOSED IN 1999:Calverton, North Selby.PITS CLOSED IN 2000:

    Annesley/Bentinck, Blaenant.PITS CLOSED IN 2002:

    Longannet, Prince of Wales

PITS CLOSED SINCE 2003:Riccall, Stillingfeet , Wistow,

    Ellington, Rossington.

A miner working at Thoresby Colliery, wrote toFreedom, providing an insightinto what its like to work in the coalindustry today.Having grown up in the miningcommunity of Sutton-in-Asheld Isaw rst hand the damage wrought

by the Conservative government. Iserved in the Army before getting anapprenticeship at Thoresby Colliery atthe age of 23.When Labour came to power I really

thought things would get better. But now everyone in the industry isworried about the security of their

jobs. The Government has refused toinvolve itself in any contracts between

power generators and UK coal to helpsecure a better price for indigenouscoal, closer to the market value.Foreign coal is being imported for over10 a tonne more, but the Governmenthas subsidised the cost of its transportwhich is in fact subsidising importedcoal at a time when our mines areghting for survival. Thats hardly thehelp they promised.Harworth colliery is due to re-open,

but this is no thanks to the government. It is purely down to the rising cost offuels making coal investment moreattracive. UK coal has had to sell off

land for housing developments to partnance the project.Recently, Thoresby and Welbeckcollieries have had large numbers ofPolish miners working at them onshort term contracts (16 weeks) anddue to this and the lack of Englishmine contractors, UK coal is bringingPolish ones to do the job.Hardly Gordon Browns 2007Conference call for British Jobs forBritish workers.

WITH the deaths of ten Frenchsoldiers last month joining thelist of mounting British casualties of

Nearly 100 years ago Rudyard Kiplingwas writing poems about the ThirdAnglo-Afghan War and his verse is asrelevant today as it was back in 1919.Heres a stanza from The Young British

    Soldier. .

When youre wounded and left onAfghanistans plains,

And the women come out to cut upwhat remains,

Jest roll to your rie and blow out yourbrains

An go to your Gawd like a soldier.Go, go, go like a soldier,Go, go, go like a soldier,Go, go, go like a soldier,So-oldier of the Queen!

Here is another verse from a poemcalled Arithmetic On The Frontier. .

A scrimmage in a Border Station -A canter down some dark defle -Two thousand pounds of education

Drops to a ten-rupee jezail -The Crammers boast, the Squadrons

    pride,Shot like a rabbit in a ride!

A jezail is a cheap home-made rearmthat is just lashed together and was afavoured weapon of the Afghan tribes. To bring the poem theme up-to-date,heres a take on Kipling from KeithThomson, a British National Partymember from Southend-on-Sea.Im no poet, says Keith, but I hopewhat I have written conveys the samemessage Rudyard Kipling was givingout all those years ago.

Patrolling out on one occasion -A sortie down some dark defle -Two thousand years of civilisation

Drops to a shot when lured in by guile -His mothers boast, the Armys pride.

Now hes dead because Government l ied.

WE may not as yet have an anti-immigration Mayor in London, but there is one now installed in Rome. So what has led the goodfolk of the Italian capital to elect Gianni Alemanno as their Mayor?Well, it seems the spark may well be the arrival of large numbersof Roma from Romania who now encircle Rome in their tents. Theirarrival has been greeted with dismay by the Italians and especially soafter an Italian lady was viciously raped and bludgeoned to death byone of their number. The Roma are a travelling people who are thought to haveoriginated in Northern India and travelled westward at a timebefore there were such things as state borders. The EU having now removed Europes borders, has turned theplace into a gypsy paradise. Now they can unhitch their caravan orbang in their tent pegs in whichever country takes their fancy. At the present time the UK has restrictions on the Romanians andBulgarians moving here to live, but these are only in place for threeyears. If Romes new Mayor decides to make life uncomfortable forthe Roma there, we might see them turning a wistful eye towards theUK and to Slough in particular.Although Slough may not have the same picture postcard appeal asRome, that will be of little concern to the Roma. In Slough they wouldget to live in a proper house and crowd all the relatives in as well, and

no-one there seems to mind very much that they do not understand theeveryday minutiae of such services as rubbish collection. Travellerstraditionally have never had to worry about such mundane matters -they just move on and leave others to clear up the mess.Slough was the only place in England to have a swing towardsLabour at the May Council elections. Now that could be due to thevagaries of the postal voting system or it might just be down to thegrateful Roma already there, thanking Labour for putting out thewelcome mat whilst awaiting the arrival of their kith and kin.

THE Scots and the Welsh have been complaining just recentlythat the BBC gives very little news coverage to events in their

own particular countries.I have to agree that last year the BBC did choose to ignore the shenanigansat the Welsh Assembly, when the Labour Party were desperately tryingto form a coalition with one of the other parties without them lookingupon it as a kiss of death. The BBC instead preferred to dwell on the exploits of Shambo the SacredCow. Probably to show to the world what a diverse country Wales hasnow become: its hills no longer just clothed in sheep, but nding roomfor a tuberculin infested Hindu bullock.I would like to reassure the Welsh and Scots that the BBC also ndsscant time to report events in England and the near continent, preferringinstead to describe at length pro-democracy rallies in far away landswhich most of us cannot pin point on a map.

I believe that the BBC does not like to dwell over long on events inthe Scottish Parliament or the Welsh Assembly as it draws attention toEnglands democratic decit. The recent Planning Law is a good example of this decit, when decisionson large scale projects were taken away from local Councils and givento unelected quangos. The Bill was only passed with the assistance ofthe Scottish Labour MPs, and why not? Planning is after all a devolvedissue and will not affect any of their constituents.I can only assume that the English quietly accept this state of affairsbecause most of them are unaware of the anomalies wrought by thedevolution settlement at Westminster. Certainly the BBC makes noattempt to inform them, preferring instead to dwell on the lack ofdemocracy in Zimbabwe.

    Poles avoid paying tax

    www.forum.bnp.org.uk

Ithink your readers will beinterested to learn that some

Polish workmates of mine have neverpaid income tax since they startedworking in 2005 at Butlins. The Government allows them a yearswork without having to pay income tax,

because they return to Poland once ayear to visit family, so the tax exemptionrestarts to Day 1 on their return. They also tell me that many of theirfellow countrymen working at Butlinsin Bognor Regis havent paid anyincome tax either.

When Labour politicians tell us how benecial migrant workers are to theeconomy, someone should raise theissue of these non-tax paying Poles.

OVER a million Britons are nowin severe nancial difcultiesbecause of the rising cost of fuel, therising cost of living and the risingcost of gas and electricity. With home repossessions now alreadyat unprecedented levels, the familiesin difculties face yet another piece ofanti-British legislation. Those who have had their homesrepossessed and are hoping that theirlocal council will be able to accommo-date them, will be disappointed.Because someone has been unableto keep up their mortgage repay-ments, the local council has no legalright to find them a council homebecause by not paying the mortgagethey have made themselves inten-tionally homeless. But this policy doesnt apply to asylum

seekers and immigrants - who havemade themselves homeless by leavingtheir own country - in fact, they go tothe front of the housing queue whenthey arrive in Britain.Local councils are discriminatingagainst British people by giving this

preferential treatment to immigrantsand its a policy your local BNP repre-sentatives will be working to change.

IAM a member of the British NationalParty and of the reserve armed forces

    - the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.Last year I volunteered for serviceabroad and was sent to Iraq. As areservist I receive an annual bounty likethe TA do, which was processed and Ireceived the payment in April. But now I have received a letter fromthe RAF saying that the payment wasmade in error and they want it back.Apparently, when a reservist is calledup for full-time service, he ceases to

be a reservist and becomes a full-timeregular serviceman.Full-time service personnel do not getannual bounties, so time spent as a regularserviceman does not count towards areservists annual commitment.Im afraid this is typical of the wayBritish servicemen are treated - we were

bombarded by missiles virtually everyday in Iraq and yet the bean counterswant their money back.Name and address withheld.

    EU grounds the Dakota

NICK & NINA: Nick Grifn and Broxtowe organiser, Nina Brown, chatting after the hugely successful meeting (see page 14).IT was quite an incredible scene. People dressed in black, with

their faces masked by scarves, using car tyres to barricade a

road and then stoning the police as they tried to remove the

obstruction. There was the sound of sirens as police reinforcements

arrived. There were the scufes as 33 arrests were made. There was

the beat of the blades of the police helicopter as this eye in the sky

tracked another breakaway group of protestors.

And all the while a queue of law-abiding British men and women, many

with their children, waited patiently in their cars for the road to be cleared

so that they could attend a gathering of the political party they support.

Labour Party thugs, goaded on by Labour MP Judy Mallaber, and tradeunion boss Bob Crow, and transported from all corners of the country

thanks to trade union and Labour money, were trying to deny the right of

assembly to members and supporters of an opposition political party by

    violence and intimidation.

Thankfully our television news bulletins and newspapers captured the

scenes and, with just a couple of exceptions, reported accurately what had

taken place. It will be a wake-up call for many, to see the sort of violent

confrontation our Government not only sanctions but actively encourages.

For over ve years the British National Party has had to bear the brunt

of a series of attacks from this Labour Government. There have been the

blatant frontal assaults such as the scenes just described and the campaign

of intimidation and hate, including death threats, orchestrated against our

    elected councillors.

There has been the attempt to imprison our Partys leadership as seen by

the trumped up race hate charges led against Nick Grifn and Mark

Collett which were thrown out by the jury at Leeds Crown Court.

There has been the more subtle persecution of individual members who

have lost their jobs as teachers, health service workers and civil servants.

There has been the targeting of those seeking employment within the

police and prison service, who have been blacklisted even if they have

outstanding credentials for the job, solely because of their membership

    of the BNP.

At election time, our candidates have their campaigns interfered with

by thousands of illegal leaets that are full of lies, all openly delivered

by members of the Labour Party. And when the time for the votes to be

counted arrives, ballot boxes have been broken into by Labour Party of-

cials and BNP votes defaced to make them invalid.

When the history of these times comes to be written, many of those people

with inuence within our society today will have to hang their heads in

shame, because they stood by and allowed, without one word of criticism,

a Government Party to ac t like a Third World dictatorship in its persecu-

tion of an opposition party and its members.

And the greatest irony of it all is that Gordon Brown and his bully -

boys have the cheek to call us nazis and fascists, when all the while

it is they that are denying freedom of speech, freedom of assembly

and freedom of political choice by implementing the methods of the

stormtroopers of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

OUNCILLOR Joanna Bev-erley (Elmeld ward, Morley

Town Council) spoke up in defenceof local democracy at a recent fullmeeting of Morley Town Council.

The BNPs only representative on thecouncil, who was elected in May 2007with 432 votes, was disappointedthat the other councillors had bandedtogether to prevent her from sitting ona single committee. She told the meet-ing and a packed public gallery:Last year I was a member of the

planning committee. I attended everysingle meeting and I always madeworthwhile contributions to discus-sions. Despite this, I have not beenallocated a single place on any com-mittee this year.Every councillor on this council has

been allocated at least one committeeplace. I would like someone to explainto me, the council and the members ofthe public here today, why you havechosen to exclude me from every

    single committee on this council.

This is just a typical example of

councillors behaving like bulliesand ignoring the wishes of the

people of Morley who elected meto this council.Since being elected Joanna hasnever missed a meeting, which ismore than can be said of many of theother councillors. But despite beinga lone BNP voice on the council sheis refusing to be intimidated. She spoke on another motion con-demning moves to stie debateabout the issue of introducing adirectly elected mayor in Morley. It is not the business of this councilto play fast and loose with free speechand local democracy. It is totally undemocratic to demandthat voters are only allowed to havetheir say when the question posed is

favourable to the ruling clique on this

council.Despite having to work under theseextremely difcult conditions,Joanna has pledged to continue tospeak up in defence of democracy

    and free speech in Morley.

NICK Grifn received a verywarm welcome when he

spoke to an enthusiastic audienceof over 100 at the August meetingof Broxtowe BNP.Local organiser Nina Brown, openedthe meeting with a report detailing

plans for the group in the run-up tonext years county and Europeanelections. She reported that it has been a verygood six months for the BroxtoweGroup with activists quietly con-centrating on fundraising, increas-ing the sale of the Partys literature- which has more than doubledsince this time last year - and hold-ing several social evenings withmembers throughout the borough.

    Maurice Collett announced that

although he was still in the process ofcollecting funds raised for his spon-sored bike ride from Leicestershire toSkegness recently, the total so far was

just over 2,000.After a break for tea, coffee and

biscuits, the Party Chairman helda question and answer session withquestions from the audience cov-ering a range of hot topics such ascrime, the energy crisis, immigrationand the European Union. No politi-cian from any of the old gang partieswould dare to attempt this without ascript of carefully ltered questionswith the pre-prepared answers.A collection of 375 was taken andthis, along with money from the saleof Excalibur merchandise, raised the

    evenings total to 588.

place in Swansea last month, withlocals being joined by membersand supporters from as far away asGwent and AmmanfordA two minute silence was observedat the beginning of the meeting inrespect of those troops killed in actionin Afghanistan and Iraq. In the intro-duction to the silence it was pointedout that although we know thenumber of servicemen who have losttheir lives, there is no record availableof the number of wounded - many ofwhom are scarred for life.Guest speaker, Marlene Guest from

Rotherham, kept everyone bothentertained and well informed while

supporting speaker, BNP councillorJohn Gamble, who travelled downwith Marlene, gave an insight into theworkings of the Labour-run council inRotherham.John reported that democracy is teeter-ing on the brink in Rotherham and hisanecdotes, on this very serious situa-tion, were quite amusing as his detailedhow Labour had in fact lost the plot inthis part of South Yorkshire.*The meeting ended off a busy dayfor the Swansea ofcials who hadearlier attended the Annual RegionalCouncil Meeting for BNP Wales.

THANK YOU: Marlene Guest is presented with a bouquet of owers by the Swan -sea committee. Rotherham BNP councillor John Gamble, is standing behind her.

    by Clive Jefferson

ITS been a busy month for theBritish National Party units in

Cumbria with three meetings and aby-election campaign. There was a well attended meeting inBrampton which was the scene of ourvery rst by-election campaign in thenorth of the county back in 2007.The Cumberland News tried to do ahatchet job on our election workerswith a report entitled BNPs men in

black cast a dark shadow over poll, which referred to those of us selling

Freedom at a stall in the centre of

Brampton. Its no wonder the sales ofthis newspaper are falling through theoor with many of the 3,000 peoplein Carlisle who voted BNP this yearupset by the way the local media mis-represents the party they support. There was also a county day of actionwith leaeters covering several areas, including Barrow down in the southwhere Mike Ashburner is contestingthe Newbarns by-election.In Workington, Arthur Kemp, one ofthe Partys nest speakers, and KenBooth, the BNPs North East RegionalOrganiser, addressed a meeting of

Allerdale BNP.Two days later there was a meetingof Carlisle BNP chaired by the neworganiser - Alistair Barbour. He takes over from Brian Allan whohas done a fantastic job in the run-upto this years elections with a record 10candidates. Brian now wants to con-centrate on his Currock ward, wherehe polled 29% in May, for next yearsCumbria County Council elections.Alistair polled 22% in the recentUpperby by-election and is also ourrst councillor in Eden, having beenco-opted onto Hesket Parish Council.
