VOICE is not a youth program in the traditional sense.

VOICE is branded messaging, resources, campaigns and initiatives designed for Indiana teens to engage with online or tangibly in their communities. Indiana teens are defined as 13-19 year-olds. Individual teens and community or school based groups are invited to align themselves with any VOICE effort.

VOICE branded resources and campaigns allow teens to fully participate in the objectives of VOICE—engage, educate, and empower teens to celebrate a tobacco free lifestyle—with less difficulty and with high fidelity to the best practices and values of the public health model.

Is VOICE a Club?

No. VOICE is branded messaging.

What if we have an existing VOICE club in our community?

We ask that you rebrand. Consider a name that compliments your coalition or organization. For example, rather than “[Indiana County] VOICE” think “[Indiana County] Tobacco Free Teens” or "[Indiana County/School-Organization] + [original name].

Why isn’t VOICE promoting the creation of exclusive clubs?

Think Truth®. Truth exists to provide resources and branded messaging to support and advance tobacco control efforts nation-wide, not to create Truth clubs.

VOICE exists to do the same in Indiana. We engage, educate and empower Indiana's teens to celebrate tobacco-free lifestyles. Rather establishing and maintaining VOICE clubs throughout the State, we are interested in partnering with and supporting existing teen groups, be they SADD, 4-H, Student Councils, FCCLA, Scouts, Faith Groups, or even “lone ranger” teens.

By developing and offering resources and opportunities and making them available to all Hoosier teens, we are able get the maximum benefit from limited resources and more efficiently engage, educate, and empower Indiana's youth.

This approach also allows you to grow your coalition by inviting local youth serving organizations to join your efforts without having to hire a dedicated youth coordinator to create a new youth group.

As you identify existing teen-centered groups and programs, be they school based or community based, you may share VOICE branded opportunities, resources and campaigns as they are launched, such as the Waste Tobacco Filters Kit or Meet-ups, just as you would share new cessation information or resources with local organizations.

What is the VOICE Squad and who are VOICE Brand Ambassadors?

The VOICE Squad is the core group of teen leaders who have been recruited to ensure that our messaging is on point and culturally relevant for teen audiences and work on creating VOICE campaigns, resources, and events. A VOICE Brand Ambassador works at the local level by engaging with VOICE branded campaigns or messaging. For example, they engage with VOICE social media platforms, host an #InMemory of Event, use VOICE materials for a Kick Butts Day event, attend a Meet-up, etc.

May I use the VOICE logo or name? .......................................................................................

Not without permission. Think about someone using your coalition name and logo for an off-message, unsanctioned event. The VOICE logo and name represent a Statewide brand. To protect the brand and messaging, the logo or name may only be used if permission has been granted by the VOICE team. If you have a request, send your ask to [email protected]
