Vocational Nursing Program
Chaffey LVN Nursing Program Chaffey College works with students in the LVN
Program to prepare the students to apply to take the State Licensing Examination. Students must successfully pass this program to qualify to take the State Board exam.
Students must pass the State Board Exam to be eligible to apply for licensure .
Licensure
The fee for the application is $220.00 beginning January 1st
The state exam is $220.00.
Chaffey will assist the student with the licensure application process.
The Board of Vocational and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT)
This is the governing body for the LVN Program.
There are state regulations that must be followed.
Student admissions are based on the fulfillment of requirements and completing the application process.
Requirements for entry to the program: Complete the application for Chaffey College if you are not
already a Chaffey student
Complete VN Program pre-requisites (see Counseling)
Complete the VN Program application
Active CNA certification.
Transcript of Evaluation
Complete a Health Examination form
Drug Test: a 10 Panel Drug and Alcohol screening
Current CPR certification (BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider) with American Heart Association
Clear background examination
Successfully upload documents providing evidence of meeting health requirements
State requirements for completion of the LVN course: 576 hours verified classroom instruction
964 hours verified clinical instruction
Successful completion of all components of the Chaffey Vocational Nursing Program
Chaffey requirements for successful completion of the Vocational Nursing Program Meet all state requirements
Complete all 3 Semesters (18 months) of Vocational Nursing program successfully: Lecture grade must be a 75% or above
Pass the Final medication exam at 100%
Clinical rotation (this portion is pass or fail)
You must pass both theory and clinical to remain in the program

Criminal Background
Being convicted of any crime other than minor traffic violation(s) may preclude you from attending clinicals and completing the program. Further, you must submit additional information to the state with your application. Chaffey College is not responsible for, nor do we have information about, BVNPT criteria regarding previous convictions. You must contact BVNPT directly (916) -263-7800 for more information.
Health Requirements A Physician’s Certification (see Health Screening form)
2-Step TB or Chest X-ray, current season’s influenza vaccination, and a 10 panel plus ethanol urine drug test will be performed and signed by a physician or nurse practitioner. The health examination cannot be performed by the Student Health Center at Chaffey. Contact your General Practitioner.
Chaffey needs copies of all lab results and immunization documentation. These results must be on the original laboratory sheet from the lab and immunization records and uploaded to American Data Bank.
Student Health Services
Students currently enrolled in 1 unit or more can go to Chaffey College Student Health Services to have some of their health requirements completed: immunizations, TB, urinalysis.
CPROnly ONE type of CPR will be accepted:
BLS Provider issued through the American Heart Association.
Chaffey College nursing programs only recognize the CPR card one year from issue date even when card states it is valid for two years.

Stethoscope
Watch with a second hand
Small notebook with a black pen
Badge holder (landscape with clip)
Required Books (list will be provided)
Books and MaterialsRequired:

All books and materials are available at Chino campus bookstore
Advised to have ruled paper, #2 pencils, black inked pens, Scantrons, index cards and 3-ring binder(s)
Uniforms White uniform shirt with collar (no scrubs). White uniform pants (no tie strings and not cuffed
ankles) or skirt or dress White socks, white panty hose if wearing
dress/skirt White polishable shoes all enclosed Chaffey name tag with photo ID (make sure you
have your picture on file with the Admissions department)
VN Patch (sold at the Chino bookstore)
UNIFORMS
Uniform NO-NO’s No visible tattoos No artificial nails No hair on the collar No colored uniforms No scrubs No colors on the shoes No jewelry (except wedding band) No colored hair pieces No visible body piercings (except one
pair of studs in bottom hole, lower lobe,of both ears)
Unclean and un-ironed uniforms are NOT
acceptable.
Admission and Enrollment
If you are not a Chaffey College student, you must complete a Chaffey College application first to obtain a student ID number.
Each student must go to the Counseling department and make an appointment with a counselor, if they haven’t done so.
Entry Requirements A completed VN Application with copies of
Evaluation of Transcripts, CNA Certificate, CPR Certification and High School Transcripts
Turn in completed health examination form along with lab results and immunization records.
All students must have all requirements finished, prior to the first day of class they are entering.
