When the gong sounds ten in the morning and

I walk to school by our Lane,

Everyday I meet the hawker crying, “Bangles, crystalbangles!” 

There is nothing to hurry him on, there is no

oad he must take, no lace he must go to, no

Time when he must come home"

I wish I were a hawker , sending my day in

The road, crying, “Bangles, crystal Bangles!”

The watchman swings his lantern and walks

with his shadow at his side, and never once

Summary

Vocation is a poem by Rabindranath Tagore. It containsthe wish of a child. The child is the poet himself. Hesees three persons at three dierent times. He likes allthe three persons. He wants to be each one of them.
