PARALLEL LINES/LÍNEAS PARALELAS

• Definition: Parallel lines remain the same distance apart over their entire length. No matter how far you extend them, they will never meet.

PERPRENDICULAR LINES/LÍNEAS PERPENDICULARES

• Definition: A line is perpendicular to another if it meets or crosses it at right angles (90°).

SYMMETRY/SIMETRÍA

• Definition: Symmetry is when one shape becomes exactly like another if you flip, slide or turn it.

• Definition: The imaginary line where you could fold the image and have both halves match exactly.

• Definition: Figures that have the same shape and size.

• Definition: Two shapes/figures are Similar if the only difference is size (and possibly the need to turn or flip one around).

REFLECTION/REFLEXIÓN

• Definition: An image or shape as it would be seen in a mirror, or in a smooth lake.

• Definition: Turning around a center. The distance from the center to any point on the shape stays the same. Every point makes a circle around the center.

TRANSLATION/TRANSLACIÓN

• Definition: Moving without rotating, resizing or anything else, just moving. Every point of the shape must move in the same distance and in the same direction.

• Definition: An angle which is equal to 90°, one quarter of a full revolution.

• Definition: A ray is a line that starts at a given point and goes off forever in some direction.

• Definition: The plane has two dimensions: length and width. But since the plane is infinitely large, the length and width cannot be measured.

• Definition: A point where two or more straight lines meet. A corner.

• Definition: Polygons are 2-dimensional shapes. They are made of straight lines, and the shape is "closed" (all the lines connect up).

• Definición: Una figura plana (bidimensional) con lados rectos. Ejemplos: triángulos, rectángulos y pentágonos.

RECTANGLE/RECTÁNGULO

• Definition: A four-sided polygon (a flat shape with straight sides) where every angle is a right angle (90°). Opposite sides are parallel and of equal length.

• Definition: A 5-sided polygon (a flat shape with straight sides).

TRIANGLE/TRIÁNGULO

• Definition: A triangle is a figure that has three sides and three angles. The three angles always add to 180°.

OCTAGON/OCTÁGONO

• Definition: An 8-sided polygon (a flat shape with straight sides).

• Definition: Three-dimensional figures are those figures that do not lie in a plane. The dimensions of three-dimensional figures are length, width, and height.

• Definition: A cube is a box-shaped solid object that has six identical square faces.

• Definition: A 3-dimensional object shaped like a ball. Every point on the surface is the same distance from the center.

• Definition: Any four-sided shape is a quadrilateral but the sides have to be straight, and it has to be 2-dimensional.
