IntroductionNarrandera Shire is a great place in which to host events� Narrandera Shire Council has developed this guide to assist you in researching which venue to use for your next meeting, conference, sporting event or special function� This guide will help make your decision easier by providing you with details such as location, capacity, facilities and access for a range of venues across Narrandera Shire�

Event venue selectionA venue needs to be selected depending on its suitability to your event� Correct venue selection is a critical success factor for an event and consideration needs to be given to:

• Indoor/outdoor requirements;• Location and approximate travel time to get there;• Accommodation and adequate car parking;• Catering facilities and liquor licensing;• Capacity of the venue;• Type of security provided;• Who will be using the venue prior to your event

(and when);• Other events taking place in Narrandera Shire

and the Riverina at the same time;• Heating and air-conditioning;• High visibility to attract passing traffic;• Cost of using the venue;• Services supplied, for example, power, water, toilets,

lighting and shelter from weather;• Access for the disabled and heavy equipment;• Site layout;• Wet weather or extreme heat options; and,• Audio visual options�

Facts about NarranderaLocation: Narrandera is strategically placed between Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney near the cross roads of the Sturt and Newell Highways� It is also ideally situated on the picturesque Murrumbidgee River and edge of Lake Talbot�Population: Approximately 4,000 people and a regional catchment of more than 110,000 within a 100km radius�Climate: Narrandera has warm summers with an average daily temperature of 31.8˚C. Cooler temperatures throughout the winter months reach an average daily temperature of 15.2˚C. Transport: By road, rail or air, Narrandera has it all�

• Ideally situated two kilometres from the crossroads of the Newell and Sturt Highways�
