Nayarit tiene un destino fuera de serie que reúne característi-cas de turismo ecológico, aventura e historia: Es Santa María del Oro.Su laguna está dentro de un cráter volcánico, rodeada por bosques de pino y encino, donde habita una abundante fauna, lo que le ha hecho entrar en la categoría de Parque Nacional. Nayarit has an out of this world destination, which combines features of eco-tourism, adventure and history: It Is Santa Maria del Oro.Its lagoon is inside a volcanic crater, surrounded by pine and oak forests, where an abundant fauna inhabits the area, and which has been categorized as a National Park. A beautiful phenomenon that is due to the high concentration of minerals and alkalinity contained in its tranquil waters are the changes in the color of water, from blue to bright green.Santa Maria del Oro is almost 60 kilometers of Tepic (originally called the Santa Maria de Acuitapilco, having changed to its current name due to the mining activity) and one of its attractions are the estates that are preserved from the XVI and XVII centuries. Nuestro viaje comienza después de haber visitado la ciudad

cultural de México, Guanajuato; a 96 km de ella nos dirigimos a

una ciudad que nos espera incansable para atraparnos en cada

uno de sus detalles San Miguel de Allende. Nuestro camino es

rodeado de: montañas, cañadas, valles y senderos que nos

deslumbran mientras llegamos a nuestro destino.

San Miguel de Allende es famoso por su intensa vida cultural y

artística, hereda un gusto delicado por la arquitectura sin hacer

de lado sus raíces, en el 2008 la UNESCO nombró a esta ciudad

y el aledaño Santuario de Jesús Atotonilco, Patrimonio Mundial

de la Humanidad como una muestra de la evolución de estilos

arquitectónicos desde el Barroco hasta el Neogótico de finales

del siglo XIX.Llegamos y San Miguel de Allende nos revela su monumentalidad con

una explosión de sentidos, sus calles de colores, cuna de canteros y

herreros, perderse por ellas es una de las mejores formas de vibrar y

nos obliga; a detenernos a tomar una fotografía, es obligado comenzar

el andar por el Jardín Principal este es el corazón de San Miguel, otro

sitio para recorrer a pie es hacia, el Paseo del Chorro, un manantial de

agua que fue utilizado por indígenas; incluso la ciudad fue fundada

inicialmente alrededor de este lugar, que ahora es un tranquilo parque

rodeado de pintorescas fuentes.

San Miguel es un destino preferido para los amantes del arte, las inau-

guraciones de estudios ; cursos y talleres constituyen una parte vital de

la pujante escena artística; aquí abundan las galerías por lo que no no

es nada dificil encontrar un recuerdo que llevar a casa.

Our trip starts after visiting the cultural city of Mexico, Guana-

juato. 96 km from it, we head to a city that tirelessly awaits us to

entrap us in each of its details; this is San Miguel de Allende. Our

path is surrounded by mountains, gorges, valleys and trails that

dazzle us while we arrive to our destination.

San Miguel de Allende is famous for its intense cultural and artis-

tic life, which inherited a delicate taste for architecture without

making aside its roots. In 2008 the UNESCO appointed this city

and the surrounding sanctuary of Jesus Atontonilco a World

Heritage Site, as a sample of the evolution of architectural styles

from the Baroque to the Neo-Gothic of the late XIX century.

Y es que aquí residen pintores, escultores, diseñadores y

músicos de todo el mundo, por eso no es de sorprender ir

a comer y encontrarte con un importante músico de jazz

tocando día a día, y si hablamos de artistas, muchos mexi-

canos han elegido también esta tierra, esta ciudad fue

durante años el santuario del inolvidable Cantinflas y el

lugar donde maduró y dio clases el muralista David Alfaro

Siqueiro.

cians settle from all over the world. This is why it is not

artists many Mexicans have also chosen this land. The city

was for many years sanctuary to the unforgettable Cantin-

flas and the place where the muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros

matured and also gave classes.We arrived and San Miguel de Allende reveals its monumentality with an

explosion to the senses. Its streets of colors are home of masons and

blacksmiths, getting lost is one of the best ways to get a feel for the city

and forces us to make a pause and take a picture. You must begin the

walk on the main garden (Jardin Principal), this is the heart of San

Miguel. Another site for exploring by foot is towards the Paseo del

Chorro, a natural spring which was used by the indigenous people, and

where the city was even founded, which is now a quiet park surrounded

by picturesque fountains.

San Miguel is a preferred destination for art lovers. The openings of

studios, courses and workshops are a vital part of the vibrant art scene.

Here, there is an abundance of galleries, so it is not difficult to find a

souvenir to take home.

Es el abismo subterráneo natural más espec-tacular de México y uno de los más hermosos del mundo, ubicado en la Huasteca Potosina; allí se refugian los vencejos (pájaros que la gente confunde con golondrinas y por eso le dieron ese nombre al lugar). Debes tomar fo-tos cuando, al amanecer, miles de aves salen en espiral de la inmensa cueva; y el espectácu-lo se repite cuando regresan, al caer la noche.

It is the most spectacular natural subterranean abyss of Mexico and one of the most beautiful in the world, located in the Huasteca Potosina. There, swifts (birds that people confuse with swallows, reason why the name is given to theplace) seek shelter. Photos should be taken at dawn, when thousands of birds leave in spiral formation from the huge cave, having the show repeat itself when they return at nightfall.

El frijol negro ha estado presente en la alimentación de los mexica-nos desde hace milenios y aunque existió la disputa del origen de esta legumbre (en algún momento Perú afirmó que es un producto de aquel país), lo cierto es que nació en suelo mesoamericano, concretamente en el sureste de México, y se estableció como un alimento imprescindible, por lo que no es casual que la gastro-nomía del Estado de Veracruz lo tenga como la guarnición en la mayoría de sus platillos. Dejando la historia aparte, el frijol negro tiene un sabor delicio-so -ligeramente dulce- con un alto contenido de fibra y proteína; acompaña a la sopa de arroz o al plato fuerte, o es preparado como el protagonista de la comida, ya sea refrito con queso y salsa, o servido con aguacate, cilantro y, claro, al más puro estilo mexicano: ¡Con mucho chile y tortillas de maíz!

Black beans have been present in the Mexican diet since millenniums ago and although there was a dispute on the origin of this legume (at some point Peru stated that it was a product from that country), the fact is that black beans came from the Mesoamerican soil, concretely from the southeastern part of Mexico, and they were established as an essential food, so it is no coincidence that the gastronomy of the State of Veracruz has them as a side dish in the majority of their dishes. Testigo silente de la historia y las luchas por la emancipación,

emerge del manto lustre del lago de Chapala una isla que guarda

misterios y relatos, imprescindible a visitar.

Su nombre se lo da el pueblo que silencioso vigila a esta isla. De

población totalmente indígena, al llegar ahí se sienten sus ricas

costumbres y raíces, en el centro del pueblo se encuentra la Iglesia

de la Asunción que data de 1703, cuyas torres son icónicas, ya que

se pueden ver a lo lejos desde la carretera.

En el pequeño muelle se alista nuestra lancha que nos lleva hasta la

Isla de Mezcala o Isla del Presidio, la brisa fresca y unas garzas

blancas son fieles compañeros de nuestro viaje, la ribera del lago

de Chapala abraza los sentidos.

Llegamos y lo primero que notamos es un delicioso olor a ciruela, ahí

abundan los árboles de este fruto, y nuestro guía tiene bien a darnos una

buena dotación de ellas para hidratarnos y saciar el antojo.

Desde tiempos remotos, fue un centro de culto de gran importancia; de

hecho, se estima que estuvo habitada desde hace 10,000 años, lo que se

confirma basándose en los hallazgos paleontológicos encontrados que

incluyen puntas de obsidiana, ornamentos y las representativas tumbas de

tiro.

En Mezcala se escribió uno de los capítulos más fascinantes de la Guerra

de Independencia de México. Perseguidos tras la batalla de Puente de

Calderón, el 17 de enero de 1811, un grupo de insurgentes se instala en la

isla para alzar una fortificación que resistió durante cuatro años los

ataques de los realistas.

As a silent witness of the history and the struggles for emancipation,

Lake Chapala emerges from the mantle´s luster. It is an island that

holds mysteries and stories, an essential place to visit.

Its name was given by the people that silently look over this island,

composed entirely of an indigenous population. As you get there,

one can feel their rich customs and roots. In the center of the village

is the Church of the Assumption which dates back to 1703, and

whose towers are iconic, for they can be seen in the distance from

the road.

In the small pier our boat which will take us to the Mezcala Island or

Island of the Presidio is getting ready. The cool breeze and some

white herons are our faithful companions on the trip; the shores of

Lake Chapala embrace our senses.

En la isla de Mezcala se encuentran como un vestigio histórico de gran

relevancia e interés, los restos de lo que fue el presidio que en 1817

fundara Don José de la Cruz, intendente de la Nueva Galicia, y que funcio-

nara de 1826 a 1855; es la única obra de arquitectura militar en Jalisco,

además de ser un sitio de gran interés para visitar.

También se puede practicar el senderismo en los cerros Punta Grande y El

Venado. Lo que definitivamente no puede quedar fuera, es una visita a la

famosa Cueva del Toro, donde hay pinturas rupestres y petroglifos que

por siglos se han conservado sobre un enorme peñasco.

On the island of Mezcala, one can find as a historical vestige of great

relevance and interest, the remains of what once was a prison founded in

1817 by Don Jose de la Cruz, Mayor of New Galicia, and which operated

from 1826 to 1855. It is the only construction of military architecture in the

state of Jalisco, in addition to being a site of great interest to visit.

It is also possible to practice trekking at the Punta Grande and the El

Venado Hills. What definitely cannot be left undone is a visit to the famous

"Cueva del Toro", where there are cave paintings and petroglyphs which for

centuries have been preserved on a huge rock.

We arrived and the first thing we noticed was a delicious smell of

plum, trees of this fruit are abundant here, and our guide gave us a

good supply of them to hydrate and satisfy our craving.

Since ancient times it was a center for worship of great importance,

in fact it is estimated that it was inhabited 10,000 years ago, which

is confirmed on the basis of the paleontological findings including

tips of obsidian, ornaments and the representative shaft tombs.

In Mezcala one of the most fascinating chapters in the Mexican War

of Independence was written. Persecuted after the Battle of the

Calderon Bridge on January 17th of 1811, a group of insurgents

installed themselves on the island to raise a fort which resisted

during the four years of the royalist attacks.

UN POCO DE LA TRAYECTORIA DE MARCO PARISOTTO

Es uno de los más notables directores de orquesta en el mundo. Estudió violín, piano

y dirección orquestal con Leonard Bernstein, Yuri Temirkanov y Raffi Armenian. Su

talento le ha ganado el reconocimiento de la crítica al dirigir la Orquesta Nacional de

Francia, la Philharmonia de Londres o la Filarmónica de Calgary, entre muchas más,

y dirigió el concierto de clausura del Festival Internacional Wieniawski, Polonia. Fue

nombrado Director Titular de la Ontario Philharmonic, en 1996, llevándola al alto

nivel técnico e interpretativo que hoy tiene. En 1997, en el Concurso Internacional

de Directores de Besançon, Francia, obtuvo el Gran Premio y el Premio del Público;

en 1999 fue nombrado Director Principal y Asesor Artístico de la Orquesta Sinfónica

de Shanghái, y en 2014 inició sus funciones en la OFJ, posición que le fue otorgada

unánimemente por la Secretaría de Cultura de Guadalajara, el Patronato de la OFJ

y los integrantes de la misma.

L a llegada de Marco Parisotto como Director

Titular de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco

(OFJ), con sede en el Teatro Degollado, está

marcando un antes y un después en la historia mu-

sical del Estado.

Originario de Montreal, Canadá, sus experiencias

en Guadalajara son únicas: “La mezcla de arquitec-

tura colonial y moderna me encanta, el clima es

perfecto, la comida es riquísima y la gente es muy

amable. Me gusta caminar, explorar nuevos lugares,

me siento muy a gusto aquí. Y las bellezas naturales

del Estado son increíbles. ¡Sólo quiero más tiempo

para conocer todo lo que Jalisco ofrece!”, comparte

el director. Y en el ámbito profesional desempeña

un gran papel, dándole al público tapatío la calidad

musical que pedía desde hace tiempo: “He tenido

la oportunidad de ser Director Huésped con varias

orquestas en México, desde 1998; en mi primera vi-

sita sentí gran afinidad con el país: La energía y el

entusiasmo del público son increíbles y motivantes

para quienes estamos en un escenario. Cuando me

favorecieron con la invitación para dirigir a la OFJ,

me sentí atraído por la efervescencia y el deseo que

hay por los espectáculos de calidad; me siento muy

honrado de encabezar a una de las instituciones cul-

turales más importantes de Jalisco”, añade.

Si pudiera delimitarse el tamaño o la cantidad del

arte, la opinión del público sería la forma de medir-

lo, por lo cual la recepción que tiene el trabajo de

Parisotto es definitiva: “Siento que llegamos al mo-

mento en el que el público conoce mi estilo de di-

rección, que existe una conexión muy fuerte entre lo

que quiero expresar mediante la música y la percep-

ción que tienen; siento una gran comunicación con

el público, y su calidez hace que me entregue cuan-

do estoy en el podio”, asevera el artista canadiense.

En cuanto al lugar que ocupa Jalisco en el pa-

norama de la música clásica, “México, en general,

no está como otros países. Vi desde el inicio de mi

gestión como un reto el colocar a nuestra Orquesta

en el mapa cultural internacional; y estoy contento

de que lo estamos logrando: La OFJ realizó una gira

internacional a la ciudad de Busan, Corea del Sur, en

septiembre pasado; fue la primera salida de muchas

que esperamos realizar para difundir el quehacer de

nuestra Orquesta y poner en alto el nombre del Es-

tado y del país. ¡Invito al público a acercarse a la Or-

questa y disfrutar de la bella música con nosotros!”,

concluye.

✮ LITTLE ABOUT MARCO PARISOTTO´S BACKGROUND

He is one of the most notable orchestra directors in the world. He studied violin,

piano and orchestra conduction with Leonard Bernstein, Yuri Temirkanov and

Raffi Armenian. His talent has earned him the critic’s recognition for directing the

National Orchestra of France, the London Philharmonic or the Calgary Philharmonic,

among many more. He directed the closing concert of the International Wieniawski

Festival in Poland. He was appointed Director of the Ontario Philharmonic, in 1996,

bringing it to high technical and interpretative level it has today. In 1997, at the

International Contest of Directors of Besançon, France, he won the Grand Prix and

the Audience Award. In 1999 he was appointed Head Director and Artistic Adviser

of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and in 2014 he began his work in the OFJ,

position which was granted to him unanimously by the Secretary of Culture of

Guadalajara, the Trustees of the OFJ and the members of the orchestra.

the Teatro Degollado, is marking a before and

after in the State´s musical history.

Originally from Montreal, Canada, his

“I love the mixture of colonial and modern

architecture, the weather is perfect, the food is

lovely and the people are very friendly. I like to

walk, explore new places, I feel very comfortable

here. And the natural beauty of the State is

incredible. I just want more time to get to know

everything that Jalisco has to offer! “, shared the

Director. And in his professional field he plays a

great role, giving the Tapatio public the musical

quality that they have been requesting from

some time now: “I’ve had the opportunity to be

Guest Director with several orchestras in Mexico,

since 1998. In my first visit I felt great affinity with

the country. The energy and enthusiasm of the

public is amazing and motivating for those of us

who are on a stage. When I was honored with the

invitation to lead the OFJ, I felt attracted by the

effervescence and the desire to create quality

performances. I feel very honored to be leading

one of the most important cultural institutions

of Jalisco”, he adds.

If you could be demarked by the size or

quantity of the art, the opinion of the public

would be the way to measure it, therefore how

the job of Parisotto is received is definite. “I feel

that we have arrived at a time where the public

knows about my directing style, that a strong

connection between what I want to express

through music and the perception that there

is, exists. I feel a great communication with the

public and its warmth, which makes me give

it my all when I’m on the podium,” says the

Canadian artist.

In regards to the place Jalisco occupies in the

panorama of classical music, “Mexico, in general,

is not like other countries. I saw it from the

beginning of my administration as a challenge

to put our orchestra on the international cultural

map, and I am happy that we are succeeding.

The OFJ had an international tour to the city of

Busan, South Korea, in September of this year,

and it was the first of many outings that we

hope to make in order to show the work of our

Orchestra and exalt the name of the State and

country. We invite the public to take interest in

the orchestra and enjoy the beautiful music with

us! “, he concludes.

W hy Paris? What does the mythical city represent in popular belief? Is it perhaps that the French Revolution,

captured as a historic guiding principle, then turned into a government slogan is still in force? Does “Liberté, égalité et fraterni-té” still echo in a socialist government that has best embodied western interventionism in Africa and the Middle East?
