Anti-decubitusWhen people are bedridden, pressure ulcers can occur. The ulcers are harmful to the skin because of continued pressure on one place. This is also called decubitus;a common annoying and painful problem.

The largest risk of pressure ulcers is in areas with a lot of pressure and where theskin is thin, like the heels, elbows and buttocks. Vitility has several anti-decubitus products in its assortment to prevent starting decubitus or to relieve alreadyexisting decubitus.

When dressing and undressing becomes a daily problem!Dressing and undressingA lot of people have trouble dressing and undressing themsel-ves, what makes it a daily recurring problem. There are several acts that can be difficult when dressing or undressing. You could think of opening and closing clothes with buttons or zippers. Or is it difficult to put on shoes and tie the laces, because you cannot reach them? Vitility makes dressing and undressing a lot easier. Our assortment contains several aids that simplify this.

Putting on socks and stockings Vitility has several hosiery aids, which help people putting on socks and (compression) stockings without bending. Pull the sock or stocking over the aid. Then place the aid on the floor while holding the loops. Put the toes in the opening and place the sock or stocking over the foot by pulling the loops. With this practical aid it is not necessary to bend or stretch anymore.

Opening and closing zips Many people find it difficult to open and close zips and have to ask other people for help, the zip grip is easily attached to the zipper tab by means of a click system: the peg goes through the opening of the zip and snaps onto the back with a ring. The added grip makes it easier to open and close a zip.

Buttoning up clothes Besides aids for closing zippers, Vitility also has aids to simplify buttoning up clothes, for example a button hook. Place the hook through the buttonhole, then place the hook with the widest part over the button and pull the button to the smallest part of the hook. When finished, pull the button hook through the button-hole and the shirt is buttoned up.

Putting on and taking off shoesElastic laces make it possible to put on or take off shoes without bending. When the shoe is on, tie the laces the first time. Then they do not have to be tied again, because the laces will stretch when putting on or taking off shoes. The elastic laces make shoes with laces like loafers. With the use of our shoehorn this becomes even more easier.

The bathroom has to be a safe place: a room where you can take care of yourself. A place where you can freshen up by taking a shower or bath.

The Vitility assortment contains a large series bath and shower aids. These aids can provide more grip, to prevent you from slipping away. But we also have aids to step in the bath easier.To provide extra support you could think of a bath safety rail, where you can hold on to, when stepping in and out of the bath.

The risk of slipping away in the bath or shower is somethinga lot of people fear. To prevent this, Vitility has non-slip mats in its assortment. We have different kind of mats, made for showers or baths but also for on the floor in front of the shower or bath.

When you are fatigued early or you cannot stand too long,Vitility has several bath- and shower chairs. These chairs provide support and safety. The legs have non-slip rubbertips that keep the chair in place. The chairs have a non-slipseat with drainage holes and are adjustable in height.

The Quick Mobile Rail is designed to assist a natural motion,for example when stepping into and out of the shower. The Quick Mobile Rail is therefore not designed to hold or support the full body weight. This mobile grab rail can be attached and removed within seconds, without drilling or screwing. Two powerful suction cups are pressed onto a smooth, non-porous, firm surface, the vacuum levers are pressed down and the Quick Mobile Rail is attached.When the indicator is green the rail is attached properly. Eating & drinkingEating and drinking is of vital importance for everyone. But eating and drinking independently is not always obvious. Vitility has a very wide range of cups, plates, cutlery and kitchen aids.

Vitility has many different cups. All these cups have special features that make it easier to drink. Cups with a nosey cut out allow drinking without moving the head backwards. These cups are very suitable for people who have neck problems.

Cups with two handles make sure you can hold the cup tight. For a lot of cups matching lids with a spout are available. With a spout the fluid can be dosed, to prevent spilling. This way you can drink independently. Vitility has a suitable cup for everyone.

Plates with a raised rim are suitable for people who suffer from their wrists or who have problems with their coordination skills. The raised rim makes it easier to place the food on the cutlery and prevents the food from sliding off the plate. Bring the fork or spoon to the end of the plate and place the food, against the raised rim, on the fork or spoon. There are plates with a raised rim around the whole plate, but also with a partly raised rim.

Vitility’s cutlery offers a variety of possibilities. Apart from the cutlery, Vitility offers different kitchen knives with an angled handle. The knives have an angle up to a maximum of 90°, the angle ensures a natural (anatomic) position for the hand and wrist. Due to this angled shape, a minimum amount of force is necessary to properly use the knife while cutting the food, therefore the hand, wrist and arm are being relieved.

Vitility has several openers in its assortment to open cans, bottles and jars. The openers have a comfortable handle to provide a better grip. With less strength you can use the opener to open cans, bottles and jars. When only have one hand, you can use a non-slip placemat. The placemat prevents the jar, bottle or can on the mat from slipping away and turning with the motion, when you open it with only one hand.

If you have problems holding the cutlery, a pre-shaped and non-slip handle can be the solution. Our cone shaped handle is designed to provide a comfortable grip. The handle is made of non-slip material which prevents the cutlery from slipping from your hands, even when wet.

With a rocking knife you do not need to make the cutting motion, a simple rocking motion is enough to cut food. This way you can cut food with only one hand without much effort.

Plates If you suffer from your joints or have coordination problems, the use of adapted cutlery can be a solution. It is also suitable to use an adapted plate, in addition to the adapted cutlery.

Plates with a raised rim are suitable for people who suffer from their wrists or have problems with their coordination skills. The raised rim makes it easier to place the food on the cutlery and prevents the food from sliding off the plate. Bring the fork or spoon to the end of the plate and place the food, against the raised rim, on the fork or spoon.

Do you prefer to keep using your own plate, but experience the convenience of a raised rim, then you can use a plate surround. The plastic plate surround can be attached to the rim of the plate. The surround makes it easier to place the food on the cutlery.

40% of Alzheimer’s patients experience significant weight loss. There are different causes to name, why people with Alzheimer are losing weight. It becomes more difficult to eat independently, because they are restless and easily distracted when eating. Therefor they eat less.

More than 60% of the people with Alzheimer have a decreased ability to distinguish contrasts and colours. 50% of these people are obstructed in their daily life, because of this decrease.

It has been scientifically proven that people are respond more to the colour red. Research has shown that people suffering from Alzheimer’s independently eat 25% more and drink 84% more when their food and drink is served in a prominent red colour. This effect is enhanced by the yellow placemat. Vitility has designed tableware specially for Alzheimer patients.

DrinkingThe acts you perform while drinking are so obvious, that you only think about it when these acts are limited because of age, but also as a result of disability, for example after an operation or accident.

Often the problem with drinking is the backward bending of the neck or the head. With the cup with nosey cut out you can drink with minimal effort of the shoulders, neck or head. The nosey cut out can also be the solution for people with a cervical collar or a whiplash. A spout prevents the user from spilling.

When you have to stay in bed for a long time due to circumstances, there is a cup, which allows you to drink in a laying position. The cup is transparent so you can see how much fluid is still in the cup.

Most cups that have one or two handles are made to make it easier to hold the cup. If a cup has no handles it provides grip because of the textured side or you can order a matching holder. The Sure-Grip is an example of this kind of cup. The cup has grooves that make the cup comfortable to hold and therefore it cannot slip away.

To provide more grip the Sure-Grip cup has a handle which can be ordered separately. The handle will make it easier to hold the cup.

Another risk is taking in too big a gulp at once. To prevent this you can use a cup with a spouted lid. Vitility has several spouted lids in its assortment with large and small openings. The smaller the opening of the spout, the better you can dose the amount of fluid you want to drink.

A second solution for this problem is the use of straws. Straws with a one-way valve, prevent the fluid from running back into the cup, which makes it easier to drink.

When you have difficulties holding the straw, you can place the straw in a straw holder. The straw holder can be easily attached to the rim of a cup.

A mouthpiece which can be attached to the straw, prevents the user from swallowing the straw.

Lifting and TransferringWhen you are getting older, you can get trouble standing up, lifting and/or transferring. But also in rehabilitation these movements and acts can be a problem.

To make this easy, Vitility has several products in its assortment that can help you. A good example is the lifting aid Upeasy; it helps you to get up or to sit down. The Upeasy assists in getting up or sitting down by providing counterweight by sitting down and by providing mechanised lifting by getting out of the chair.When you stand up, the seat provides the much needed lift and supports you, until you can stand up by yourself. If you no longer have the strength to partially lower or stand up, the electric Upeasy is the solution.

When you have less strength in your legs or you have trouble lifting the feet, you can use a leg lifter. It is a simple aid: the large loop has to be placed around the foot, the smaller around the wrist. By pulling the loop, the leg will be lifted.

When you have trouble getting up, or transferring, this is of course, not just indoors. Getting out of the car can, for example, cause problems, especially with cars with a low step. Several products are suitable to remedy this. The raising aid car Vitility supports when you get in or out of the car. When you have trouble turning to the right position, you can use a turn table. It turns smoothly and simple and therefore you need only a little strength to sit in the right position. The turn table can also be useful inside the house, for example to take a seat at the dinner table.

Keep insulin coolWhy should you keep your insulin cool?

Your insulin should be kept cool, because it will become ineffective at high temperatures (25-30 °C). Also at cold temperatures (below 2 °C), you insulin will become ineffective. The best way to store your insulin is in the refrigerator at 4-8 degrees. When you are traveling or on vacation, you may not have a fridge at your disposal. 2. Please ensure all goods received are correct at time of delivery as a claim for credit may not be accepted after 14 days from when purchase was made.

3. All product deliveries will include a copy of the tax invoice. This is your receipt. If products are not available for delivery due to stock availability this will be noted on the tax invoice.

Returns policyPlease call 1300 788 855 for all returns enquiries.

1. No returns will be accepted unless authorised by an Independence Australia Customer Service Representative.

2. All returns must have a Goods Return Authority (GRA) number clearly shown on the external return packaging. A GRA number can be obtained via telephone or fax through customer service. The issue of a GRA number does not mean that the returned goods will be accepted or a credit will be granted.

3. Returned goods must be in their original condition. Packaged goods must be unopened, unmarked and in a re-sellable condition. Independence Australia reserves the right to not accept any returned goods that do not comply with these terms and conditions. Independence Australia will only authorise a return if the goods are found to be faulty at the time of supply or if compliance is not possible.

4. Special order items (not standard stock lines), specifically ordered by Independence Australia at a customer’s request will not be accepted for return under any circumstances unless faulty at the time of supply.

5. Independence Australia will provide a credit for returned goods only if a copy of the delivery docket, invoice or documentation showing the customer’s name, date of purchase and notation of clearly stating the reason for return is supplied.

6. Independence Australia reserves the right to charge a restocking fee on products returned. The standard restocking fee rate can be obtained at the time of requesting a return.
