Swedish Edmonds Expansion: On Schedule to Open November 2015 The largest expansion in more than 40 years
is on schedule at Swedish Edmonds as
evident by recent construction milestones.
The last of the steel beams were placed in
April, including the sky bridge beams
connecting the new building and original
hospital facility. Next, concrete floors will be
poured, a process expected to be completed
by early July.
When completed in November 2015, the
new 77,000-square-foot expansion will
feature a modern emergency department,
spacious lobby, enhanced imaging services
and more. A parking garage, with more than
350 free parking spaces, opened last June.
A public celebration of the grand opening will
be announced shortly.
Construction of the Swedish Edmonds hospital
expansion is progressing rapidly as seen by this
view of the facility construction in late April. Read
more about the expansion and the new sky bridge
below, on page 1 of Vital Signs.
Sky bridge beams were placed in April as part of
the Swedish Edmonds expansion project. The
process of pouring the concrete floor for the
bridge is next with the final building tie in for the
bridge anticipated to happen in late June to early
July.

doctors Patani, Grassman and
Teply! They are experts at the job.”
Cardiovascular Diagnostic
Imaging
“Dr. Kimo Hiroyoma takes time to
explain and asks if I understand. Dr.
Hiroyoma is the best doctor I've ever
seen.”
Childbirth Center
“The anesthesiologist was amazing
and had great bedside manner.”
Emergency Services
“They were all so above perfect,

considerate of my pain and family
presence. Dr. McClelland relieved
him and was absolutely amazing as
a provider and advocate. He was
friendly, professional, informative
and very kind.”
What Are Patients Saying? Below are a few positive comments from recent Press Ganey Satisfaction Surveys

Culture of Safety courses are being
offered at Swedish Edmonds for
physicians who have not previously
taken Swedish’s Culture of Safety
course. Classes are offered from
noon-4 p.m. on Tuesdays, July 14,
Sept. 22 or Nov. 10. An evening
course is also offered on Thursday,
May, 28 from 6-9 p.m. in Glaser
Auditorium at Swedish First Hill.
There are two ways to register for an
upcoming Culture of Safety course:
1. Go to www.swedish.org/
cultureofsafetyregister. At the site,
scroll down to the “Swedish Medical
Staff Members, Physicians and
Contractors” section and select a
location. Log in when prompted. If
you are not a medical staff member
at Swedish or do not currently have
an account with Swedish CME,
please fill out the sections listed and
also check the “I am a new user”
box, then click “sign in” to create an
account. From there you will finish
creating your account and then you
will be able to see a list of upcoming
classes to choose from.
2. You may also register at Swedish
Online. Once at Swedish Online,
hover over the Education tab and
click on Culture of Safety. From
there, scroll to the bottom and select
“click here to register for CSI All
Staff & Medical Staff trainings.”
There will be two sections; one for
employees, and one for physicians,
medical staff members and
contractors. Select the campus you
would like to attend under the
category that best represents your
affiliation with Swedish. It will
connect you to HealthStream where
you may login and sign up for open
classes.
All attendees are encouraged to
preregister. Classes at Swedish
Edmonds will be held in Auditorium
B located on the 4th floor. This
activity has been approved for AMA
PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Swedish Edmonds volunteers were
celebrated with a picnic-themed
dinner in April honoring the many
hours of service they donate to the
hospital to support caregivers and
patients. The hospital has 388
volunteers who donated 57,064
hours of time in 2014.
At the dinner, volunteers were
treated to mini-pulled pork sliders,
fresh made side dishes and
homemade lemonade served in
mason jars from a lemonade stand.
Volunteer Claudene Cox received
her Hours Award pin for 19,225
cumulative service hours. Many
other volunteers also received pins
for the donated hours they have
contributed over the years. Each
volunteer was presented with a
personalized picnic blanket that
reads “Volunteers a Work of Heart -
Swedish Edmonds Volunteer.”
Thank you to our volunteers for your
dedication and service!

Create Your Swedish Web Profile
All active Swedish Edmonds physicians are eligible to create a physician web profile at www.swedish.org. Follow the steps below to create your profile today and attract new patients. Please also use this tool to make changes to an existing profile.
Go to www.swedish.org/cmsdesk and enter your user name and temporary password:
User name: Same as your username on the Swedish network, e.g., Tom G. Smith would be SmitTg1
Password: Lastname (case sensitive)
Physicians are asked to maintain their own office information on profiles such as office hours, address/phone changes, etc. It’s recommended that you change your default password (last name) to your ‘strong’ password used on the Swedish network, so your Swedish logins are consistent and easier to remember. If You Need Help Please visit www.swedish.org/physician.
The City of Edmonds is making plans
to improve the 76th Avenue and
212th Street intersection right of way
in Edmonds across from Edmonds
Woodway High School and one
block north of Swedish Edmonds,
according to a recent article in the
Edmonds Beacon.
Improvements would include
restructuring the right turn lanes
westbound, southbound and
northbound, and adding left turn
lanes north and southbound. In
addition, a new traffic signal, new
sidewalks, ADA compliant curb
ramps, bike lanes, street lights,
storm water drainage and water
pipelines would be implemented.
The improvement project is
scheduled to get underway next
year.
