22Visual Reminders of God’s Promises

THE BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN

Realize That God Loves You. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

The Bible Says That All Men Are Sinners. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory to God.” (Romans 3:23).

God’s Word Also Says That Sin Must Be Paid For. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The Good News Is That Christ Paid for Our Sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

We Must Personally Pray and Receive Christ by Faith as Our Personal Saviour. The Bible Says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Your Thoughts

Think about it:

Could droughts, floods, and pests that hurt crops be a result of Cain’s curse today?

Think About it:

The rainbow is God’s flag flying high in the

sky reminding everyone of His promise.

The Ground will not be Cursed Again Read Genesis 8:20-21. God accepted Noah’s sacrifice and spoke in His own heart, “and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.” God had already cursed the ground in Genesis 3:15-17 because of man’s sin of disobedience. The curse brought sorrow and affliction to man’s daily life. God added another curse because of Cain’s sin of murder in Genesis 4:11-12. The earth would not produce its full potential of crops for Cain or his descendants. God will not add to the affliction and sorrow

already placed on man. Why? Man’s thoughts and his heart is only evil continually. It is his nature to sin. God would have to keep cursing and cursing as a reaction to man’s sin. God does not want to add more to man’s sorrow. This is not the answer to man’s sin problem.

Read Genesis 8:22. During the flood, the normal cycles of nature were interrupted. There was not any planting and harvesting of crops. The temperature and seasons were altered. Clouds covering the sky would have altered man’s sense of day and night. There are many uncertainties in life today and the future. God promises, “while the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” This is a daily visible promise that gives us security in life.

“The Foundation of it all” A Study in Genesis 1-11 Lesson 22

Read Genesis 9:8-17. God establishes a covenant with Noah, all his decedents, and the animals. A covenant is a formal agreement entered into by two or more persons to do or to forbear some act or thing. It is a contract and when made by God it is an unbreakable promise. God’s promise to Noah and all his decedents, which includes us today, is that the earth and all flesh will never again be destroyed by a world-wide flood. God gives us a visual reminder of this promise in the rainbow which is seen when there are clouds and rain in the sky. The Bible refers to this rainbow as a token which is a signal, monument, or flag. It is a reminder of His promise which is never to be forgotten though we should never forget the reason behind the promise which was God’s judgment. The rainbow reminds both God and man of the promise that was made on this day. God’s promises are visual and proclaimed to all people everywhere. People just need to know and understand the truth of the Bible behind these promises they see everyday. Read II Cor. 4:3-4. We must present the truth to open their blinded minds.

Your Thoughts

The Nature Cycle will not be Interrupted Again

This promise is in effect until Christ returns and the earth is destroyed by fire in the final judgment. All these promises are maintained by the precise rotation of the earth on its axis and its orbit around the sun. Read Psalm 24:1. Each day we have a visual reminder of God’s promise. We are reminded each time we wake up or go to bed; watch a sunset or the moon; see a farm or eat feed from a farm; or see leaves budding or turning colors. The Earth will not be Destroyed by Water Again
