• Less Expensive than 4 year Universities

• Like universities, some CC’s are recognized for strength in certain programs.

• Can prepare students for UC/CSU/Private Universities

• No Entrance requirements or testing requirements

• Examples: MSJC, Palomar, RCC

Interesting Fact: Many community colleges have guaranteed admission programs with select UC’s and CSU’s. For example, a student who maintains a 2.8 at RCC in select courses can gain guaranteed admission to UC Davis.

Cal State System• 23 Campuses state wide• If living at home, only

slightly more expensive than Community College.

• Schools range from very small (Monterey Bay - 3000), to very large (Long Beach - 34,000).

• Generally easier to get into than UC with some exceptions.

• Require completion of A-G course requirements and SAT or ACT

Interesting Fact: The CSU system is regularly recognized for having outstanding Engineering Programs at many of its schools. Cal Poly SLO is ranked 6th in the nation! Cal Poly Pomona, pictured above, is 14th!

$42,000 per year• Tend to have smaller class

sizes and more individual instruction

• Examples: Yale, Chapman, Redlands, Harvey Mudd, University of San Diego

Starting with the class of 2006 Students are guaranteedenrollment into Cal State SanBernardino if:

– Student successfully complete the CSU required basic subjects (A-G) with a grade point average of 3.0 or better

– Achieve a passing score on the EPT and ELM, demonstrating no remedial course needs

– Have taken the SAT or ACT (No minimum score required )
