On 30 April 1955, State Bank of India changed its

name from Imperial Bank of India.

Imperial Bank of India was consist of Bank of

Calcutta, Bank of Bombay & Bank of Madras.

The Government of India nationalized the

Imperial Bank of India in 1955.
