I must say that I have seen Americans make a great deal of real sacrifices to the public welfare; and have noticed a hundred instances in which they hardly ever failed to lend

faithful support to one another.

SINCE 1985UNITED WAY OF GREATER ATLANTA’S TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY

Tocqueville Society members are philanthropic leaders who, through generous gifts of treasure, demonstrate their commitment to tackling our community’s most pressing problems to create sustainable change. The Society is named after the 19th century French political thinker and historian Alexis de Tocqueville who, in his writings, recognized the importance of voluntary action on behalf of the common good. Our Society, created in 1985 to develop a stronger

SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND CONNECTIONamong local philanthropists, is the largest Tocqueville Society in the United Way system today with more than 1,000 members. Membership in the Tocqueville Society is open to individuals who contribute to United Way of Greater Atlanta’s campaign a gift of

The Legacy Circle is a group of dedicated Tocqueville Society leaders who have committed to perpetuate their annual Tocqueville gift. Perpetuating your annual Tocqueville gift involves a current or deferred gift of 20 times your annual gift. By perpetuating your annual gift as a Tocqueville Legacy Circle member you can create a meaningful legacy of impact for our community and help strengthen United Way’s financial stability.

LEGACY LEADERSUNITED WAY OF GREATER ATLANTA’S

IT WORKS LIKE THIS:If your annual gift is $10,000, this would involve a planned gift of at least $200,000. Twenty is used as the multiplier because it is assumed that the $200,000 would generate annual income of $10,000, the amount of your annual Tocqueville gift.

It is easy to include United Way in your will, as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy, retirement account or donate a new policy. Create your planned gift and help shape the future and solve problems we cannot imagine today. Be recognized as a member of the Tocqueville Legacy Circle and enable long-term community change!

United Way invests its Impact Fund dollars in addressing big social issues – like low high school graduation rates or homelessness – that no one organization or solution can address by itself. United Way brings together teams of nonprofits to develop collaborative solutions that have a lasting impact on communities. The value of your donation to United Way’s Impact Fund is multiplied many times over by United Way’s powerful resources, including over 50,000 volunteer hours, partnership with local and state governments and funds from private philanthropy. So, giving to the United Way Impact Fund allows you to have the biggest impact on our community.
