L ove To Serve, Inc. Tennis and Education Foundation (LTS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide an affordable tennis program and academic en-

richment to urban youth of all racial and socio-economic backgrounds in the greater Chicago-land area.

LTS was established in 1962 by its Founder and CEO L. LaMont Bryant, a tennis professional and former school teacher. Coach Bryant recognized the need for a program that would provide access to the non-traditional sport of tennis, particularly for underserved youth in Chicago. His goal was to establish an organization that would keep impressionable inner-city youth off the streets by creating an arena for them to participate in structured tennis and academic programs after school, weekends and throughout the summer. Through hard work, dedication and the development of strategic partnerships, LTS has become a nationally recognized organization serving thousands of student athletes annually.

The services provided by LTS are: setting up and administering tennis lessons and tennis pro-grams throughout the year including summers through a developmental program and their "schools" program; encouraging and developing community partnerships to maximize the de-livery of programs and services; administering after-school academic and educational enrich-ment programs, and hosting city-wide events such as Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival.

Working in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools, LTS has developed an elementary tennis league beginning at the third/fourth grade level and continuing through to eighth grade.

As an approved First Serve Chapter, LTS is affiliated with a National Network of tennis organi-zations, tennis professionals, and community and business leaders. Their high school students participate in the "First Serve Student Athlete Program". The goal of the program is to recog-nize student athletes that receive good grades during the school year and compete in USTA sanctioned tennis tournaments. Winners will receive academic scholarships for college.

Since 1992, Love To Serve, Inc. has continually built on the successes of the previous year, and for this reason they were recipients of this same award in 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2001.
