Modern self-portrait
Duration:45 minutes
Materials: • Sturdy A3 sized painting paper• Black waterproof marker• Pencils: Creall-trixi or Creall-maxi• Creall-color• Creall-gussow brushes
Purpose of the lesson:To increase expression, knowledge of modern art.
Execution:Show examples of modern art on the digiboard. Try to include self portraits by artists, and discuss them. For example, a portrait by the artist Paul Klee. The children can now create their own, modern self-portrait.
• Give each child a sheet of painting paper.• Have the children draw the basics with pencil or a waterproof marker.• If available, a photo can be used as an example.• The children paint their own portrait.• Now discuss their modern art works.• The children can possibly be allowed to guess: who is who?
