CIDC – Activities: Skill Rally from India gate to Vigyan Bhawan on 15th July 2016:

CIDC participated in Skillathon 2016 at India gate. A team of students (25 students from Dhaulana attended the programme) lead by Mr. Gyan Prakash Sharma & Mr. Gopal Yadav. All our staff & students got opportunity to meet & interact with handle Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy ji.

MOU Signing:

Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC) has signed an MOU with Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), New Delhi for “Project for Employment Oriented Training and Skill Development Programme for SC/ST/OBC/Women & EWS of society for 2000 persons under the CSR initiatives. The MOU was signed by Dr. Shankar Singh, Addl. General Manager (CSR & LIB.) of PFC and Shri. Rajeev Jain, Director (Vocational Training) of CIDC in the presence of Shri. R. Murahari, Head (CSR & SD) of PFC. Also present during the signing were Shri. Ashutosh Bhardwaj, Director (Corporate Affairs) of CIDC and Shri. B. N. Rao, Sr. Manager of CIDC. The program is aimed at providing job oriented skill development and training to the marginalized and economically weaker sections of the society. The initiative to be undertaken at CIDC centers will provide job oriented training to rural youth, women, SC/ST/OBC and other marginalized sections whereby they can be gainfully employed. A direct resultant will be poverty reduction, rise in self-esteem of the individuals and value addition to their skills. The resultant skilled workforce translates to capacity enhancement in the construction sector helping in smooth implementation of construction and infrastructure projects leading to nation building. The initiative also helps in livelihood promotion for people from backward and remote areas as well as help the people gain meaningful employment leading to their social and economic upliftment.

CIDC – Activities: Engineering Council of India launches Registration of PEs, etc:

Registration of Professional Engineers by ECI jointly with its

Member Associations: -

1. Introduction

Registration of Professional Engineers (PEs), Associate Professional Engineers, Student Engineers, and some other categories on a voluntary basis has been launched by ECI on November 16, 2015. Criteria for registration in the National Registers and Code of Ethics have been laid and a Board of Registration for Professional Engineers (BRPE) has been set up by ECI. Discipline/field-wise National Committees are being set up by respective Member Associations which will screen the candidates in accordance with the Criteria. Half of the fee will be transferred to them by ECI. The Certificates of Registration will have names and logos of ECI and the respective MA. Fee will be 50% for concerned Member Associations, as the names would be listed on the website. (ii) The fact that PEs etc., commit to Code of Ethics, will enhance their image in the society and industry. ( i i i ) Using the Certificate of Registration as PE in the National Register as a part of CV. (iv) Better prospects for assignments/jobs after this is publicized to client/ employer organizations. (v) Enhancement of knowledge/skills through Continuous Development Programmes

The 50% concessions in the registration fees for the various categories, for applying for registration in the National Registers of Professional Engineers have been extended from 30th June, 2016 to 30th September, 201 6. Thereafter there shall be no further extension under any circumstance. those registering till September 30, 2016

2. Benefits of Registering

The Registration, which is after dues process of screening, adherence to code of ethics and Continued Professional Development (CPD) would enhance the credibility and image of the Engineer. His/her acceptance by industry, institutions, clients and other organizations goes up when he/she mentions the fact of this registration as PE (or APE or SE) which distinguishes him/her from those who are not registered. The government departments, public sector organizations, local authorities (such as municipal bodies), industry associations will be informed regarding the National Register of Professional Engineers and advised to consider them for assignments. Specifically, it will result in: (i) Better credibility and possibility to make use of the branding of ECI and client/ employer organizations. (v) Enhancement of knowledge/skills through Continuous Development Programmes

3. National Registers

There will be separate National Registers for (i) Professional Engineer (P.E), (ii) Associate Professional Engineer (APE), (iii) Student Engineer (SE). Some other categories have been added such as Apprentice/Graduate Engineer for Engineering Degree holders, B.Voc degree/ Engineering Diploma students/holders. There will be separate National Registers under each category for different engineering fields/disciplines: Construction, Consulting,IT,Computers/Telecom/Civil/lectrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Mining/Metallurgy/Industrial/ Aeronautical Engineering, etc.

4. Criteria for registering as Professional Engineer (PE): The candidate (i) Has a Bachelors' Degree in Engineering / Technology from a recognized university/ institution or equivalent qualification as approved by the All India Technical Education / Government of India. (ii) Has relevant working experience of at least 7 years as an engineer, of which at least 2 years is in a responsible position of significant engineering activity. (iii) Is of good character (has not been involved in any case of moral turpitude). (iv) Is evaluated through written examination or interview, to be conducted by Engineering Council of India or its Member A s s o c i a t i o n s. (v) Has maintained continued professional development since graduation at a satisfactory level. (vi) Undertakes to adhere to the Code of Ethics laid down by ECI. (vii) Makes a formal application with prescribed fee to the ECI Exemptions on Experience for PE. i. The candidate can be credited with 2 years of experience if he/she has a postgraduate engineering degree from a recognized institution. ii. The candidate can be credited with 3 years of experience if he/she has obtained a Ph.D. from a recognized institution. iii. Maximum exemption for higher education shall not exceed 3 years.

Exemption of Examination/Interview: For those having a total of 20 years of experience, of which at least 10 years is in responsible position- (Grandfather's clause). Those having 30 years' experience and admitted under this clause can be designated as Senior Professional Engineers. Criteria for registering as Associate Professional Engineer (APE) - As for P.E. above, with experience reduced to 4 years. APE can register as PE after 7 years of experience, of which at least 2 years is in a responsible position of significant engineering activity, without any further examination/ interview. Criteria for registering as Apprentice Engineer (Ap.E) - As for P.E. above, with experience up to 4 years. Ap.E can register as APE after 4 years of relevant experience, without any further examination/ interview. Criteria for registering as Junior Apprentice Engineer (JAp.E)- As for P.E. above, but with Engineering Diploma instead of a Engineering Graduate degree, and with experience up to 5 years. JAp.E can register as Ap.E after 5 years of relevant experience, without any further examination/ interview. Special Provision for holders of Diploma or B. Voc. degree in Engineering Subjects: They can be registered as PE or APE, if they hold or have held the position as Assistant Engineer or above in Construction/Projects/Plants, with 5 years' additional experience over and above that specified for Engineering Degree holders. Criteria for registering as Student Engineer (SE) - Enrolled as a student in Bachelors' Degree or Diploma in Engineering/Technology in a recognized university/ institution or equivalent qualification as approved by the All India Technical Education / Government of India. CIDC – Activities: TESTING & CERTIFICATION FOR SKILLED / SEMI SKILLED WORKERS BY CIDC

AT CPWD CONSTRUCTION SITES AT DHANBAD & KOLKATA FOR NCC LTD.

CIDC has successfully given training for Testing & Certification at Dhanbad, Jharkhand at CPWD construction sites of M/s NCC Ltd, CIDC have trained (T&C) of 16 Skilled workers & 16 Semiskilled workers in following trades:

Bar Benders, Electricians, General Work Supervisor, Mason, Plumber, Safety Inspector, Shuttering Carpenter, Store Keeper & Welder.

CIDC has successfully given training for Testing & Certification at Kolkata, West Bengal at CPWD construction sites of M/s NCC Ltd, CIDC have trained (T&C) of 31 Skilled workers in following trades:

Bar Bender, Crane Operator, Electricians, Mechanic, Mason, Plumber, Pump Operator & Shuttering Carpenter.

CIDC – Activities: Celebration of World Youth Skill Day:

The World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) is observed every year on July 15 to create awareness about the importance of investing in youth skills development. The 2016 theme is “Skills Development to Improve Youth Employment”.

The World Youth Skill Day celebrated on 15th July, 2015 at Gorakhpur Centre. At the centre, a lecture session was organized to give the information on need of skill development and the opportunities for skill development available in the nation. A march by CIDC staff and trainees was organized to create awareness on skill development amongst youth and to improve their employability.

CIDC- Training activities

Under CIDC - Central Railway program 30 No’s of candidates have been successfully trained in the trade of Plumber at Mumbai.

Under CIDC – Tamilnadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) training program 3000 No’s of candidates to be trained across the state of Tamilnadu. So far we have successfully trained 869 No’s of candidates and 138 No’s of candidates are undergoing training under this training program. The training of 70 No’s of candidates is scheduled to commence from the month of August, 2016.

CIDC has Signed MoU with Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFCL) for skill development training and employment of 2000 No’s of candidates. Under this training program 222 No’s of candidates are undergoing training at different CIDC training centers at Sidhauli, Dhaulana, Gorakhpur, Ranchi, Daltonganj, Faridabad, and Assam.

CIVTC has signed an MoU with Everest Foundation for skill enhancement and training of 200 No’s of youths in the trade of Fabrication and Roof Sheet Laying. The training of 40 No’s of candidates is scheduled to commence from 3rd August, 2016 at VKT, Dhaulana.
