Vademecum project objectives

• Develop a vademecum of the information technology studies.

• Four sub-topics:

– Certificate level– Bachelor level– Master level– Virtual university

• To process the topic into the form of a book chapter which would offer an overview of all the possible forms of study using state-of-the-art information technologies.

What is virtual university?

• remarkable phenomenon of the modern age

• logical extension of distance study, which has some important advantages compared to classical study

• way of study using the state-of-the-art technologies

• full featured study in the confort of your home or at any other place

• is able to reach almost all the standards of the classic (old-style) study

• is suitable for working people - no need to attend school reguralry

The way of virtual studying

• students are divided into classes according to their plans of study

• students participate in classes• clasroom bulletin boards• bulletin board “netiquette”• homework assignments

The security of the examinations

• the only real problem of the system of virtual university

• looking for a way to avoid students cheating at the test and exams

• Possible ways:

1) Attested copies of the personal documents2) Microphone, video system3) Network of examining commissars

Attested copies of the personal documents

• The main reason is to verify the future student’s identity and to get verified data about the student.

• This data shall be used in the other methods

Microphone, video system

• This acquisition is the core of the security system of the virtual university

• Compared to the school-fees of the renowned virtual universities, 20 – 40 thousand dollars, the price for the security system equipment is insignificant

• The main advantage of such connection, with respect to the security of the virtual studies, is obvious: the examining person has an instant supervision over the student.

• For most of the students it is almost impossible to evade the above mentioned system

Network of examining commissars

• This system gives the university a powerful tool for examining the students as well as it is possible in standard type of studies

• The commissar is a person who is qualified to examine the students in the relevant subjects

• The student passes the examination according to the needs of his studies approximately 2 times a year

• neither time-consuming nor expensive
