1. USAGE INSTRUCTION

KSC provides 2 types of Virtual Server

• Self Managed

Self Managed Virtual Server gives you control over your Virtual Server. For Microsoft Windows users, you

can access the information via Remote Desktop system and if you are Linux users, use SSH (Root Access.). You can also change the system settings and install the applications to the Virtual Server. (Only

copyrighted application is allowed. KSC shall not be responsible for any loss caused by the illegally use of the users.)

• KSC Managed

With KSC Managed Virtual Server, KSC is the one who manages the Virtual Server and you can access

your data by using FTP. You will not be able to change the system settings and cannot install the applications to the Virtual Server, unless agreed and installed by KSC.

2. VIRTUAL SERVER USAGE INSTRUCTION To use KSC Virtual Server, the policy firewall must be activated to allow applications on it. You can

activate the policy firewall by summitting the Fireware Request Form to KSC.

Remark: In default settings, policy firewalls in every port are closed and the applications can’t be used.

Recommended Ports

• Remote Desktop : TCP/3389 for Microsoft Windows

• Secure Shell (SSH) : TCP/22 for Linux

Frequently Used Application Ports

• Web : TCP/80

• FTP : TCP/21

• MYSQL : TCP/3306

• MSSQL : TCP/1433

• DNS : TCP/53, UDP/53

• Mail (SMTP) : TCP/25

• Mail (POP3) : TCP/110

• Mail (IMAP) : TCP/143

• Secure Web (https) : TCP/443

• KSC Log Hosting : TCP/8000

• Ping : ICMP

• Others : Port can be indentified

3. VIRTUAL SERVER MANAGEMENT To manage Virtual Server, there are 2 type of access system;

• Windows 2008 Server Operating System.

• Linux Operating System.

3.1 Windows 2008 Server Operating System

Virtual Server can be managed via Remote Desktop by following these steps;

3.1.1 Go to Start > Program > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection

3.1.2 As the Remote Desktop Connection window appears, type the server’s IP Address in Computer then click “Connect” button (see picture below.)

3.1.3 As the below window appears, click “Administrator”.

3.1.4 Fill in the password you received and press Enter.

3.1.5 The Virtual Server window will be appeared and now you can change the settings or import the

information.

3.2 Linux Operating System

Virtual Server can be controlled via the Secure Shell (SSH) by using the PuTTy. PuTTy is a terminal emulater application which can act as a client for the Telnet or SSH (Secire Shell.) You can remotely login

and use the PC resource. Download PuTTY for free at http://www.putty.org.

This program contains only 1 working file, which is putty.exe. Double click to open the the information window. Type all information to make the connection.

3.2.1 In Host Name (or IP Address), key in the Virtual Server’s IP address that you received from KSC and type 22 in Port. Then in Connection type, choose SSH. Finally click “Open” button to connect to

the Virtual Server, as shown in the below picture.

3.2.2 Enter the username that you got from KSC in login as then press Enter. If you are prompted for a

password, type the password you received from KSC in password and press Enter.

3.2.3 You will be directed to the Virtual Server settings or Information Import as in the below screenshot.
