Over the last 35 years Hargrave & Huxley Happy Days weekend has been organised as a fundraising event in support of St Peter’s Church Hargrave.

Last year Happy Days raised approximately £5000 in it’s traditional way, and was pleased to be able to also support the following local charities:

Tarporley Cottage Hospital, Huxley Village Hall, Huxley School PFA, North West Air Ambulance, Claire House Hospice, Love for Lydia & Save the Family.

We would encourage you to still support these local charities in your own way, if possible, during these times of great need.

  • Bridget Interviews Elizabeth Thornton-Firkin about her Happy Days Memories

Bridget: Tell me a little bit about your time as chairElizabeth:I was chair for a year in the early 1990s, and at that stage all the committee meetings were held in our own homes, not in the village halls. Bridget: What are you favourite memories?Elizabeth: I especially loved all the barn dances and Mac often chose me to show how the dances were done.I have had many hours of enjoyment in the marquee Stripping the Willow with anybody and everybody.Bridget: Do you have any funny tales?Elizabeth:An amusing memory was when Edward and I took to the floor for the Cumberland Gap. This involves propelling your partner off the floor! Edward commented: I nearly ruptured myself!Elizabeth:So one Cumberland Gap experience was enough for us. From then on we stuck to Stripping the Willow …Such fun!
