Virto Event Viewer Web Part for SharePoint

System Requirements Operating System Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012

Server SharePoint Release 2013: - Microsoft Windows SharePoint Foundation 2013 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2013; - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5;

SharePoint Release 2010: - Microsoft Windows SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010; - Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5;

Note: This product is not compatible with SPS 2003 and WSS v2.

Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher.

Installation and Usage This section describes how to install, upgrade, uninstall, or contact Support for the Virto Event Viewer.

Installing Virto Event Viewer Web Part

Before you begin, you need to make sure you have access to the server and your account must have the appropriate administrative privileges to install applications. Virto Event Viewer Web Part for SharePoint setup program provides links to the various installation components for the calendar. To access Virto Event Viewer Setup program download Virto.SharePoint.20XX.EventViewer.zip file and unzip it. Run extracted Setup.exe file. The setup wizard window will appear.

Virto Event Viewer Web Part wizard performs a system check prior to the installation. All the system checks must be completed successfully in order to proceed with the installation. After the checks have completed, click “Next”.

Check “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and click “Next”.

Select the web application(s) where you want to install the product. Warning: You must be logged in to the SharePoint server with a Site Collection Administrator account to automatically activate this feature.

Then click “Next”.

Click “Close” to complete the installation.

Upgrading Virto Event Viewer Web Part

If you already use Virto Event Viewer Web Part and need to upgrade it to the latest version, download the.zip file from http://www.virtosoftware.com. Unzip the file and run setup.exe as it is described in the Installing Virto Event Viewer Web Part section. On the step 3 check the box “Upgrade” and click “Next”. Note: if you have activated Virto ONE license, you do not need to activate it now.

Uninstalling Virto Event Viewer Web Part

To uninstall the component:

1. Double click the Setup.exe extracted from downloaded Virto.SharePoint.20XX.EventViewer.zip file.

2. The program performs the system checks again. Once that has successfully completed, the program prompts you to Repair or Remove the solution. Select Remove, and click “Next”.

Administration and Usage

Adding the Web Part to a Page in SharePoint 2013 and 2016

When Event Viewer Web Part is installed, go to required SharePoint site page to add web part. Click “Edit” on

Page, then press “Insert” on the ribbon and select “Web Part”.

Select “Virto Solution” in Categories and then select Virto Event Viewer Web Part from the list of available web

parts.

Now add Event Viewer Web Part to the SharePoint site page and save changes on page.

Virto Event Viewer Overview

SharePoint Event Calendar Viewer web part allows you to display events from SharePoint 2016, 2013, or 2010 of

various types defined according to your business needs.

Virto Event Viewer concentrates on quick and easy event management of pre-defined types.

With SharePoint Event Calendar Viewer, you can create calendars for displaying on the current site collection. The

event types for every created calendar will be autodetected further when adding new events. If you start to enter

an event type created before, the field will display the existing event types. This feature shortens the process of

event creations.

SharePoint Event Calendar Viewer Web Part allows SharePoint users to define the flexible set of properties for

every type of events. This way you can choose which events should include organizer and location, and which of

them should show schedule and image. The hourly schedule (agenda) for event preview is also supported.

Event Viewer Configuration

Creating new calendar When you have added the web part to a page, you have to adjust it.

All the configuration settings can be made in the “Edit” menu in the right upper corner.

Settings will be displayed in the right part of the page.

Type this calendar name and adjust Virto Event Viewer by clicking on Settings link.

The settings page in a new tab will be opened.

To create a new calendar click “Calendars”.

Then press the link “New Calendar”.

Autodetection of event type

Type the calendar name.

Then define event types.

When you create an event (see the next chapter of this documentation), you have to define an event type. All

events with these types will be displayed in this calendar.

Virto SharePoint Event Calendar Viewer provides the option of "smart" input for the "Type" field. This means that

if you start to enter an event type created before, the field will offer the existing option types. The types of events

defined for every created calendar will be autodetected further when adding new events.

Now choose a view of new calendar.

Event type properties

SharePoint Event Calendar Viewer web part allows SharePoint users to define set of properties displayed for

every type of event.

Select with drag-and-drop feature the properties to be displayed in the event description.

Now choose Event Header Properties.

Also, you can enable ability to sort events and enable filters. Do not forget to save the result.

So we have created a new calendar.

Creating new events

To create a new event open “Events” and click “New event”.

Fill the event name field and select a type of the event.

Then add event description if needed and define date and time of the event.

You can define event details (location and organizer) and add link with more detailed information. Also, you are

able to create event agenda.

You can add image to the event description and, also, associate event with a color.

Then define the event click behavior.

Now save the created event. Also, you are able to save it without publishing.

Other options

Choose “Options” to define access to manage calendar and events, which are used in the Event Viewer.

You can specify the time format (12 or 24 hours) and define first day of week (Sunday or Monday).

Usage of Virto Event Viewer

Go to the page with the installed “Event Viewer” and choose calendar for displaying on current page. The

calendar name in the web part settings must correspond to a name of one of created calendars.

Save the settings.

Now you have all your events in one convenient view.
