My History
o Sweeper
o Elite Nails
o ISC AssistantI’ve had two jobs for Jordan School District. One as a sweeper, then as a ISC assistant.
I started as a sweeper when I was 14 years old.
In between time, I helped out at my family’ nail salon, Elite Nails.
Sweeper Elite Nails
A sweeper is a janitorial position of sorts. I worked for Joel P. Jensen Middle school during my middle school years.
My responsibilities included: pick up garbage, emptying trashcans, vacuum, refill cleaning products, and keep the school community organized and uncluttered.
The nail salon is a family owned business and I’ve been in this environment since I was little. Bit by bit I would acquire some type of knowledge, and then I was required to receive my working permit. (A certificate)
It was a bit like driving, because before one was fully certified, you would earn hours just as if you were acquiring a driving license.
My Duties
I am now working once more for the Jordan School District as an Instructional Support Center Assistant.
Our branch is based at Terra Linda Elementary for the purpose of helping teachers and other Jordan School District faculty and employees.
We provide di-cut services, printing and labeling, paper and other products at a cheap and affordable price for ONLY JSD.
Teachers come to us when they are in need of craft ideas, kits or items.

In between working and volunteering, I also attend class.
During my Sweeper years, I was a middle school student.
As a nail technician, I attended high school and college.
And now as a college student, I’m working very good hours and pay with Jordan School District once more.
Benefits
I am so thankful for the current job I have, working for Jordan School District. My work gives me just enough hours that I can rake in my own income as well as go to school with minimum to manageable pressure.
And the perk of this job is our holidays off revolve around the same off time as the schools in the district. Our summers are packed and we don’t have the luxury of taking time off, but I think that is fantastic. Great co-workers and a fun working environment is all I can ask for.
