Entry Requirements
Grade C GCSE Sports Studies or
Cambridge National level 2 merit or above.
The BTEC Level 3 course is a natural pro-
gression for any student who wishes to ex-
pand their knowledge on the human body,
how it works effectively in sport and how
sport is organised around the world.
Level 3 BTEC Sport
The BTEC course offers a specialist
qualification that focuses on particular
aspects of the sporting sector. As from
September 2016 the BTEC course is
changing slightly and will then be 67%
externally assessed.
Assessment
Within year 12, students will complete
two internally assessed units. Then in
year 13 students will complete a further
two units which will be externally as-
sessed. One unit is an exam and the
other unit is a case study marked exter-
nally. By completing these four units
over two years, students gain a qualifi-
cation equivalent to an A Level.
