INSTALLATION PROCEDURES FOR RESILIENT VINYL FLOORINGA) Before InstallationFirstly ensure you have the necessary tools including:

Before installation, it is ideal if the floor can be laid flat and left for 48 hours at a room temperature of +25oC. This will make the floor more flexible and easier to handle.

B) The Subfloor and its preparationImperfections in the subfloor will affect the final appearance and performance of Vinyl flooring. Basic requirements:

Subfloors must be uniformly levelled, clean and free from grit, dust, grease, oil, polish, old adhesive and paint. It is essential that the subfloor is dry. Dampness can cause discolouration to the flooring Damp floors will also not allow the floor covering to paste properly on the floors and the adhesion will not be strong, which will also effect life of the floor covering.

Use a leveling compound if the surface is uneven, rough or cracked. It is usual to apply 3-6mm of leveling com-pound to produce the desired level of smoothness. Many leveling compounds can also be found in DIY stores and hardware stores across the globe, which are good for use with Vinyl Flooring.

Follow the basic requirements above for concrete floors. Any loose or broken tiles should be removed and the floor patched with a suitable concrete batch before using a latex leveling compound to fill the joints between the tiles to create a smooth surface.

Remove all existing vinyl, linoleum, cork flooring and adhesive residual if any. Floor should be properly cleaned of dirt and grit and should be dry.

C) Applying Adhesive and Installing the Floor1. Lay the floor in position2. Fold back half of the floor.3. Using a notched trowel, apply adhesive to the subfloor4. Let the adhesive sit according to instruction. The “open time” will allow the adhesive to achieve its best hold.

We recommend Black/ Dk.Brown colour solvent based glue which is manufactured by Pidilite India. This solvent based glue works as contact cement and has to be applied on the subfloor and on the bottom layer of the PVC flooring also. This application should be very uniform. After the application of glue it is required to leave adhesive to dry for a few minutes before pasting on the subfloor. However, a white colour acrylic and water based glue which is used in most of the countries is also good for use and unlike contact cement should be applied only on the subfloor.

5. Carefully lay the floor back in place and press firmly6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the other half of the floor. Clean excess adhesive from your vinyl7. Roll the new floor from inside to outside with a flooring roller to finish bonding the vinyl to the subfloor. Roll firmly over

the entire floor.8. Replace moulding. Plane the door if necessary and re-hang.9. Clean any adhesive residue left on the floor, but do not wash the floor for 3 days (or whatever the manufacturer

recommends). Excessive moisture at this time can affect the adhesive bond. 10.Do not use the floor for 48 hours after installation. The adhesive needs this time to dry and bond. 11.After 48 hours, return furniture. A sheet of plywood can be placed on floor to roll or slide large objects. Moving

furniture and appliances back into place is the most common cause of damage to new flooring.

D) Thermo WeldingCompany highly recommends to thermo weld joints of the rolls. This is done by using Hot Air Gun and Welding Cords The Welding Cords are supplied by the company.Procedure is as follows:-

E) PVC Planks – Nuplank Laying recommendationsRequirement: A measuring Tape, metal ruler, a knife/ cutter and a Pencil.Procedure:1.It is very important like the resilient flooring above to acclimate the floor covering planks to the room conditions and

therefore it is suggested to store the flooring in open condition in the room to be installed for 48 hours minimum at room temperature.

2.The laying should start from the center of the room. Centre point should be identified and the First Plank should be installed pointing towards the side/s of the room.

3.The next plank can be placed adjacent to the First plank starting from ½ the length of the First Plank and taken to the side wall. Similar pattern should be followed for the rest of the room.

4.The plank should be cut to size at the wall.

HOW TO MAINTAIN VINYL FLOORINGSFor the first 48 hours after your new vinyl floor is installed
