Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your Kaiser Baas Vinyl Converter. This user guide will explain how to connect the Vinyl Converter to your computer and how to install and configure the SoundSaver Express software.

IfyourvinylturntablehasanRCAaudiocableattached,connectthiscabletotheleftandrightRCAaudioinputsontheVinylConverter–

IfyourvinylturntabledoesnothaveanRCAaudiocableattached,youwillneedtoprovidethiscable,soyoucanconnecttheturntabletotheVinylConverter–

Ifyourvinylturntablehasanearthconnection,itisrecommendedtoconnecttheprovidedearthcableasillustrated–

Connect the other end of the cable to the earth connection on your vinylturntable–

You can connect your audio cassette player to the 3.5mm audio input on theVinylConverter.Wehaveprovideda3.5mm/RCAaudiocableincaseyoudon’thaveone–

OtherdeviceswithanRCAor3.5mmaudiooutputcanalsobeconnected.

Insertthesoftwarediscintoyourcomputer’sCD/DVD-ROMdrive–

Ifyouseeaflashingshieldicononyourtaskbar,selectitand continue with the installation.

Youwillhaveanumberofoptionsavailable.WehaveprovidedaPDFoftheSoundSaverExpressquickstartguideinthe‘User Guides’folder,acopyofAdobeReadersoyoucanviewPDFfilesinthe‘Utilities’ folder and our tutorialvideosinthe‘Videos’ folder.

Windows installation

Click the ‘Install’ button to install the SoundSaver Express software.

Followtheon-screenpromptstocompletetheinstallation.

ToruntheSoundSaverExpresssoftware,click‘Start’,‘All Programs’,‘BIAS’, ‘SoundSaver’ then ‘SoundSaver Express’.

Youwillseethefollowingscreen–

Click‘Authorize’andthenclick‘Yes’.Youwillnowseethefollowingscreen–

Select‘BIAS SoundSaver Express 1’ and enter your email address and serial number. The provided serial number is located on the front ofthediscsleeve.Aninternetconnectionisrequiredtoauthorizetheserial number.

Afteryouhaveinputtheserialnumber,clickthe‘Submit’ button.

Whentheserialnumberhasbeenauthorized,youwillseethefollowingscreen–

Click ‘ok’ then click ‘Done’.

Insertthesoftwarediscintoyourcomputer’sCD/DVD-ROMdrive–

DoubleclicktheCDicon,doubleclickthe‘Mac’folder,andthendoubleclickthe‘SoundSaver Express Installer.mpkg’ file to install the SoundSaver Express software.

Followtheon-screenpromptstocompletetheinstallation.

WehaveprovidedaPDFoftheSoundSaverExpressquickstartguideinthe‘User Guides’folder,acopyofAdobeReadersoyoucanviewPDFfiles in the ‘Utilities’folderandourtutorialvideosinthe‘Videos’ folder.

Mac Installation

ToruntheSoundSaverExpresssoftware,click‘Go’,‘Applications’ and thendoubleclickthe‘SoundSaver Express’ icon. You will see the followingscreen–

Select ‘BIAS SoundSaver Express 1’ and enter your email address and serial number. The provided serial number is located on the front of the disc sleeve.Aninternetconnectionisrequiredtoauthorizetheserialnumber.

Afteryouhaveinputtheserialnumber,clickthe‘Submit’ button.

Whentheserialnumberhasbeenauthorized,youwillseethefollowingscreen–

Click ‘ok’ then click ‘Done’.

YouwillnowseetheSoundSaverExpresssoftwareon-screen–

Click the ‘Preferences’ button then click the ‘Audio’ tab–

For‘Input’ select‘Line (CM6317A USB Capture Device)’.

For‘Output’ select your default sound device.

Clickthe‘Browse’ button to select a location on your hard drive for the recording directory.

Clickthe‘OK’ button to continue.

You are now ready to capture from your vinyl turntable or audio cassette player. FormorecomprehensiveinstructionsontheSoundSaverExpresssoftware,pleasehavealookinthe‘User Guides’ folder on the software disc.

TheVinylConverterhasaheadphoneoutput,soyoucanconnectapairofheadphones to monitor the playback of your vinyl record or audio cassette duringcapture–

WhentheVinylConverterisnotinuse,pressthepowerbuttontoturnoffthedevice–

The serial number for the SoundSaver Express software provided with theVinylConverter,canbeusedontwocomputers,forexample,twocomputersrunningWindows,twoMaccomputersoroneWindowscomputer and one Mac computer.

If you need to install the SoundSaver Express software on a different computer,youwillhavetoderegistertheserialnumberusingtheBIASAuthorizationManager.

Whiletheserialnumbercanbeusedtoauthorizetwocomputers,itisasinglelicense–bothauthorizationsrequirethesameemailaddress.

If your computer has broken down or have been unable to deregister theserialnumber,additionalauthorizationscanberequested.
