    Smiling Faces Needed

Amazingly, our Day Care Center turns twenty nextyear. Over those two decades we have been blessed withmany warm, engaging, and spirit-filled volunteers who act agreeters in the lobby of the Christian Life Center. Recentlysome of our long-time volunteers have retired after yearbeing surrogate grandparents to the children and helpful,

smiling faces to the parents coming and going each day.Additionally, our volunteers have helped Cindy and her stafkeep track of phone calls, visitors, and the mail.

Many scientists and health professionals agree thatpeople who are active and socially engaged have morefulfilling life experiences. As a McKendree Day Care FrontDesk Volunteer, youll have the opportunity to meet manynew people (big and small) while staying active (there is neva dull moment!). One of the biggest benefits to volunteerinis getting more time to enjoy your retirement. It turns outthat volunteering could lead to a longer life. According to recent study, retired volunteers aged 65 and older are lesslikely to die than retirees of the same age who do notvolunteer.

If you or someone you know is interested in becomia part of our Day Care Family by working a five hour shift, once a week at the CLC front desk, please contact Cindy

    Ligon at 271-2620.
