CraftsmanshipEvery Vincent Sheppard chair is still

made by hand in using the traditional

Lloyd Loom method in our production

plant in indonesia .

resist, even in heavy contract use . Our

own R&d department and several ex-

Vincent Sheppard stands for

the production of Lloyd Loom chairs came to

a halt in Europe .

Some time later, Vincent Sheppard picked up

the threads of the business and designed its

own line based on the original process .

Since then, Vincent Sheppard has developed

into a leading furniture company, with its

head office in Belgium . in 1995, Vincent

Sheppard set up a production unit in indo-

nesia, where working with rattan and weav-

ing chairs is an old tradition . Today, thanks

to Vincent Sheppard, Lloyd Loom is still as

charming and beautiful as ever . with its own

interpretation of the fabric, Vincent Sheppard

has created a dazzling collection of contem-

porary furniture that blends classic lines in

an original manner with elegant innovation .

all in the tradition of Lloyd Loom .

The legendary Lloyd Loom process was in-

vented in 1917 by the american marshall B .

Lloyd, who twisted kraft paper round a metal

wire, placed the paper threads on a loom and

wove them into what was to become the tra-

ditional Lloyd Loom fabric .

Lloyd Loom chairs quickly became very

popular in america and in 1921, marshall B .

Lloyd sold his patent to an English manu-

facturer, who used Lloyd Loom to create

romantic English furniture collections . Lloyd

Loom was soon all the rage in Europe . at

the height of its popularity, in the 1930s,

Lloyd Loom furniture could be found in hotels,

restaurants and tea rooms, as well as aboard

zeppelins, cruise ships and ocean-going

liners . when the factory in England was

bombed at the end of the Second world war,
