It’s that time of year again! Everything

around us focuses on holiday “cheer”. Hap-

py, cheerful families are depicted sitting

around the fireplace sipping on apple cider

or hot chocolate, in their wonderful (but

sometimes tacky) Christmas sweaters.

One of our annual traditions here at Croasdaile is our

team holiday party which is held every year in December.

This year, we had our annual team holiday party on De-

cember 9th. There was plenty of eating, dancing, and

laughing as you can see in the pictures! I enjoy seeing our

team members dressed up and having a great time. I have

been at Croasdaile for 17 years and I haven’t missed the

team holiday party in all of those years because I look

forward to it.

Most of my family lives in Charleston, West Virginia or

Pittsburgh, PA. I consider the team and residents my ex-

tended family and I’m happy to be a part of such a won-

derful, large family.

Heather March

Associate Executive Director

I am about to celebrate my 18th Christmas with the

residents of Croasdaile Village. The campus looks

and feels very different from that first Christmas in

1999. We have grown! I am not speaking of build-

ings, trees, shrubs, and streets. We have grown as a

family.

Three hundred and eighty-four residents celebrated

that first Christmas in 1999. As of this writing, our

Croasdaile Village is home to 611 residents. Those

384 residents were not a family in 1999. They were a

loose gathering of residents made up of residents who

moved directly to Croasdaile Village and others who

had recently transferred to Croasdaile Village from

the Methodist Retirement campus on Erwin Road.

Each was attempting to find his/her place as a part of

this community.

In the 18 intervening years, the residents and employ-

ees of Croasdaile Village have experienced life togeth-

er, facing joy, sorrow, adventures, and difficulties, and

as with every family, these things have made us closer.

I am proud to be a part of the Croasdaile Village fami-

ly, and I am proud of the many things we have accom-

plished together. May God bless you at this special

season.

Merry Christmas!

It has been an exciting and wonderful year in the Pavil-

ion. There are many more great things to come! We

cannot wait to be able to use our new beautiful dining

areas. The holidays have crept up on us. Amber Eller my

Assistant Director of Nursing and myself have something

special planned for the Pavilion nursing team for Christ-

mas. We know that they will be excited! Although the

holiday falls on a weekend this year, please take comfort

in knowing that the Pavilion will be fully staffed for the

holidays. From the entire Pavilion nursing team, we

would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and

a Happy New Year!

A Christmas Prayer (for you)

“We thank thee for this place in which we dwell,

For the love that unites us,

For the peace accorded us this day,

For the hope with which we expect the morrow

For the health, the work, the food and the bright skies

Which make our lives delightful,

For our friends in all parts of the earth.”

Robert Louis Stevenson

We wish each of you a Blessed Holiday Sea-

son – and a Happy, Healthy New Year.

Carol, Lisa, & Sheila

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”……Christmas! It

is a time to spend with loved ones, and in remembrance of

those that are resting in eternal paradise. The HR Team is

exceptionally grateful and privileged to work and serve the

residents and team members of Croasdaile Village.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and have a pros-

perous and healthy, New Year!

We are proud to be part of Team Croasdaile Village!

Kizzy, Jackie & Rebecca

I would like to take time with this article to thank all

our residents for our employee appreciation fund. My

team understands how important this gift is and we

want to make sure everyone knows we are grateful to

be able to have this every year. I have a few guys on my

team that have not been here a year yet and they were

really amazed that our residents provide this to our

team. A few other guys said this gift was perfect due to

the demand for Christmas gifts for the kids and family. I

can personally say we should never expect a gift like

this each year and I try to remind my team our resi-

dents do not have to donate to this and we should nev-

er think that it is a standard. With that being said, I

would like to wish all our residents and family members

a Merry Christmas and thank you for being a resident

of Croasdaile Village.

Christmas around the World

Around the world people look for-

ward to the Christmas holiday as a

time for exchanging gifts, enjoying

elaborate meals and spending time with family and

friends. In India, Christians walk to Midnight mass

and enjoy a feast of different delicacies (often cur-

ries). In Sierra Leone, they enjoy a dish known as

Jollof rice, made with meat, chicken, tomatoes, on-

ions and spices and cultural dancing. In Ghana and

Tanzania, “Christmas day begins with everyone in

Church”. People attend church in their most color-

ful traditional clothing which is often handmade.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas from

the team in Heritage Hall and Friendship House.

It’s hard for me to put into words how my department feels

about the residents of Croasdaile. Over the many years we

have grown to be a very large extended and diverse family

and we truly love each and every one of you. I could never

have expressed my feelings as well as these words: “ Christ-

mas is a special time of the year to remember those who are

close to our hearts, may the season bring you the music of

laughter and hold for you the HOPE and amazement you felt

as a child”.

Yours truly, in the spirit of Christmas, Ted and the dining

service staff.

Director of Dining Services
