Dear Friends,
I am happy to say that the new financial year has begun on an auspicious note for V-Trans.
Businesswise, all three divisions did reasonably well given the fact that the first month of the FY is always relaxed.
Other than this, the role of support teams that worked on the double with regards to internal branding, corporate film, new website and inauguration of our new Corporate Office is highly appreciated.
The date, Sunday, 1st May 2016, will go down as a historic landmark day in V-Trans. For it was on this day the grand inauguration ceremony of our new corporate office at Chembur, Mumbai was held. The occasion was graced by close to 1000 people that included VIPs, select clients, well-wishers, friends, family members and relatives.
Our chests were filled with tremendous pride when each and every guest marveled at the hi-tech office, perhaps one of its kinds in the domestic logistics service industry.
Mr. Hasmukh Shah, Executive Director, deserves due credit for the same. He worked tirelessly for a year and put his heart and soul into every tiny detail right from concept to its final shape.
We dedicate this issue to our new office in the form of a pictorial journey.

Corporate Initiative: The All India Operations Meet
The All India Operations Meet was held on May 13th, 2016 at the Corporate Office in Sion, Mumbai. Seen in attendance were Regional Operations and Hub / Transhipment Managers and some Area Managers. Mr. Anil Gaur, Corporate Manager – Operations spearheaded the meet.
With the monsoon season round the corner, this Meet assumed importance for the nature of its agenda. The objective of the meet was to discuss several initiatives planned by the department towards safety of goods such as: 1. Zero or minimum road accidents2. Prevention of rain damage to consignments3. Measures for prevention of check post related issues
The topics were discussed in detail, views and opinions shared taking into account past experience with the Corporate Operations presenting specific MIS data.
Drivers play a key role in the safety of goods. It is the duty of our operations people and truck hirers to ensure that trucks driven by alert and competent drivers are hired for optimum safety of goods in transit. By so doing, the Co stands to gain manifold, at the same time build a better bonding with fleet owners, drivers and customers alike.
For this, it was decided to identify a competent and experienced person from within the department, as “Dispatch Supervisor”. He will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Co's guidelines on safety and timely movement of goods are strictly followed. He will be groomed and trained further to execute his job effectively.
Among his responsibilities will be to physically check the lorry for its condition and road worthiness, the driver for his skills and abilities and the goods condition including its documents for correct details to prevent being seized / penalized at check posts. He will be empowered to reject a vehicle or a driver if the Co's safety pre-requisites were not found to be satisfactory.
This is perhaps a unique and a path breaking initiative undertaken by V-Trans to enhance operational excellence and customer delight. Mr. Hasmukh Shah, ED, and Mr. M.K. Shah, MD, attended the meet at different intervals and shared their inputs with the participants

Before the final shift, the corporate office staff had the first glimpse of their new office on May 12th, 2016. The date also coincided with the Executive Meet held at a venue near our new office. Thus the visiting delegates also got an opportunity to see the new office for the first time.
A small get-together was held on the occasion. The toast of the evening was Mr. Hasmukh Shah, Executive Director, whose role in the building of the new office was highly praised by our MD in his brief address to everyone present. A special cake was brought in and the honor of cutting the same was presented to him and his wife, Indiraben. Here are some photographs clicked on the occasion.

The V-Trans Executive Meet was held on the 11th & 12th of this month in The Emerald Club Hotel, Chembur, Mumbai,located close to our new Corporate Office. The overall arrangements and food quality at the hotel was good.The meet focused on receivable management, operations costs, efficiency, and safe deliveries.

Science: The developing Technology of future
Science and technology keep reinventing itself. This article is a message that change is inevitable and that one must not rest on past achievements but move ahead to keep pace with times.
In 1998, Kodak, the world renowned photo paper company with 85% global market share, employed a whopping 170,000 employees. In the next few years their business model disappeared and the Co went bankrupt. The emergence of digital cameras did it all. What happened to Kodak can happen to a lot of industries in the coming times and most people will not see it coming. Who would have imagined that you will never require pictures on paper film again?
The first digital cameras were invented in 1975, but remained un-popular for a long time. However, in a short time, it became way superior and got into mainstream life.
Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Exponential Age. Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing and driverless cars will now take care of all your needs. We are already living in an age where surgeries are performed by robots and considered risks free and safe.
Digital technology and developing software will take the world by storm in the next 5-10 years. Mind you, Uber and Ola! are just software tools, they don't own any cars, but are now top taxi companies in India. Likewise, Airbnb is another accommodation providing company in the world, although they don't own a single property.
Artificial Intelligence: Computers have become exponentially advanced in understanding the world. IBM developed new software called Watson, which is capable of answering basic legal and cancer related queries within seconds, free of cost and with 90% accuracy. Facebook now has pattern recognition software that can recognize faces better than humans. By 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans.
Automatic cars: By 2018 self driving car will be on sale. Around 2020, the complete automobile industry will witness a revolutionary change. People will no more want to own a car. Instead, one can call an auto-pilot car on phone; it will show up at the location and drive you to your destination. The distinct advantages: no hassles of parking space or charge, one only pays for exact distance and be more productive while travelling. Kids will not require driving lessons or a license. It will change cities; parking spaces can be transformed into parks. With autopilot driving cars, accident ratios will drop and save hundreds of lives.
