Advanced Placement World History Summer Assignment 2015 Welcome to AP World History! Over the course of the year we will engage in a rigorous and sweeping survey of 10,000 years of the history of humankind. You will also learn to synthesize historical information and write three different types of essays in preparation for the AP World History Exam in mid-May, 2016. The primary purpose of this summer assignment is to help you acquire the base knowledge necessary for instant immersion in AP World History once the 2015-16 academic year begins. There are four sections to the summer assignment. Be sure to read each section carefully and follow the instructions precisely. Please remember that you are responsible for your own pacing. PART I: Physical Geography, Global Regions, & Early Civilizations

Familiarity with the world and its physical features is an important part of this class.   You will have a map quiz the first week of school that demonstrates your mastery of basic physical geography, regional delineations, and the general locations of major river valley/classical civilizations. 

**Rivers, deserts and mountain ranges will NOT be included on the first quiz

A) Complete the Early World Civilizations Map – follow the instructions AND label ALL listed civilizations. NOTE: SOME CIVILIZATIONS MAY OVERLAP!

B) Complete the Map activity below using the blank map
