1.4 REQUIREMENTS OF REGULATORY AGENCIES

1.4.1 Fabricate and install work in compliance with applicable jurisdictional authorities.

1.4.2 File shop drawings and submissions with local authorities as the information is made available. Company pre-inspection and jurisdictional authority inspections and permits are to be made on timely basis as required.

1.5 SUBMITTALS

1.5.1 Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.

1.5.2 Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:1.5.2.1 Preparation instructions and recommendations.1.5.2.2 Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.1.5.2.3 Installation methods.

1.5.3 Shop Drawings: Provide a complete layout of lift equipment detailing dimensions and clearances as required.

1.5.4 Verification Samples: For each finish product specified.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.6.1 Installer Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience installing similar products, and acceptable to the manufacturer.

1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.7.1 Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.8.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install systems under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.9 WARRANTY

1.9.1 Provide manufacturer's standard 36-month limited warranty on parts from date of shipment.

2.2 RESIDENTIAL ELEVATOR

2.2.1 Residential Elevator: Savaria Telecab, Telecab172.2.1.1 Model:

2.2.2 Equipment: Provide equipment, incidental material and labor required for complete, operable hydraulic elevator installation. The elevators shall be erected, installed, adjusted, tested and placed in operation by the elevator system manufacturer or manufacturer's authorized installer.

2.2.3 Performance: The elevator shall be designed and tested in accordance with ASME A17.1 part V. The testing shall consist of loading the platform to rated capacity for several cycles to insure proper operation. Mechanical failures and defects shall be corrected.

2.2.4 The following preparatory work to receive the elevator specified shall be the work provided by others:2.2.4.1 Dedicated 110 VAC 20 amp single phase power to operate lift to be provided.2.2.4.2 No pit shall be provided.2.2.4.3 Provide a load-bearing wall to support a load of:

2.2.4.3.1 700 lbs at any point.2.2.4.3.2 950 lbs at any point.

2.2.4.4 Provide a floor cut out. Refer to shop drawings.2.2.4.5 The floor needs to support 3200 lb (1452 kg).2.2.4.6 A phone line shall be provided.

2.2.6 Car Enclosure:2.2.6.1 Walls: Metal wall panels.2.2.6.2 Ceilings: Metal with two recessed pot lights.2.2.6.3 Floor: Metal with non-skid surface.2.2.6.4 Handrail location: Handrail located on the door side.2.2.6.5 Clear plexiglass windows will be provided on cab walls as required.2.2.6.6 Car door dimensions and type

2.2.6.6.1 78 inches H by 30 inches W (1981 mm by 762 mm) and shall be made of steel with a plexiglass insert.

2.2.6.6.2 80 inches H by 30 inches W (2032 mm by 762 mm) and shall be made of aluminum tubing with a plexiglass insert.

2.2.6.6.3 80 inches H by 36 inches W (2032 mm by 914 mm) and shall be made of aluminum tubing with a plexiglass insert.

2.2.7 Systems and Components:2.2.7.1 The pumping unit and control shall be enclosed in the tower. The controller and

pump unit shall be pre-wired and tested prior to shipment. Pump unit shall incorporate the following features:

2.2.7.1.1 Adjustable pressure relief valve.2.2.7.1.2 Gate valve to isolate cylinder from pump unit.2.2.7.1.3 Electrical solenoid for down direction control.

2.2.7.2 The cylinder shall be constructed of steel pipe of sufficient thickness and suitable safety margin. The top of the cylinder shall be equipped with a cylinder head with an internal guide ring and self-adjusting packing.

2.2.7.3 The plunger shall be constructed of a steel shaft of proper diameter machined true and smooth. The plunger shall be provided with a stop electrically welded to the bottom to prevent the plunger from leaving the cylinder.

2.2.7.4 Roller Chains: Two No.50 roller chains with 5/8 inch (16 mm) pitch. Minimum breaking strength 6100 lb (2772 kg) each.

2.2.7.5 Leveling Device: The lift shall be provided with an anti-creep device which will maintain the carriage level within 1/2 inch (13 mm) of the top landing.

2.2.7.5.1 All limit switches and leveling device switches shall be located in a position to be inaccessible to unauthorized persons. The switches shall be located behind the mast wall and be accessible through removable panels.

2.2.7.6 Guide Yoke: The 2:1 guide yoke/idler guides arrangements shall be supplied with two idler guides, roller guide shoes, bearings and guards.

2.2.7.7 Terminal Stopping Device: Normal terminal stopping devices shall be provided at top and bottom of runway to stop the car positively and automatically. Limit switches shall be used.

2.2.7.8 Guide Rail and Brackets: Steel 'C'' guide rails and brackets shall be used to guide the platform and sling. Guide rails shall form part of the structural integrity of the unit and be integral to the mast enclosure, ensuring stability and minimum platform deflection when loaded.

2.2.7.9 Wiring and electrical connections shall comply with applicable codes. Insulated wiring shall have flame-retardant and moisture-proof outer covering and shall be run in conduit or electrical wire way if located outside the unit enclosure. Quick disconnect harnesses shall be used when possible.

2.2.7.10 The door lock shall be electrical mechanical weather resistant WR-500 CSA approved elevator lock.

2.3 RESIDENTIAL ELEVATOR

2.3.1 Residential Elevator: Savaria Infinity.

2.3.2 Equipment: Provide equipment, incidental material and labor required for complete, operable hydraulic elevator installation. The elevators shall be erected, installed, adjusted, tested and placed in operation by the elevator system manufacturer or manufacturer's authorized installer.

2.3.3 Performance: The elevator shall be designed and tested in accordance with ASME A17.1 part V. The testing shall consist of loading the platform to rated capacity for several cycles to insure proper operation. Mechanical failures and defects shall be corrected.

2.3.4 The following preparatory work to receive the elevator specified shall be the work provided by others:2.3.4.1 Permanent 220 VAC, 30 amp single phase power to operate lift to be provided

from a lockable fused/cartridge type disconnect switch with auxiliary contacts for battery operation. 110 VAC, 15 amp single phase power to operate the lighting circuit. Refer to Drawings for permanent power specifications and location of disconnects.

2.3.4.2 Provide a plumb and square hoistway with smooth interior surfaces, including fascias or furring of the hoistway interior.

2.3.4.3 Provide rough openings per lift subcontractor's shop drawings.2.3.4.4 Provide substantial, level pit floor slab as indicated on the lift contractor's shop

drawings.

2.3.6.3 Overhead lights in the car compartment shall turn ON automatically when the elevator door is opened and stay on while the elevator is in use. The elevator lights will shut off by a timer when the elevator is not in use.Elevator Lighting shall be: 4 x Energy Saving LED Cab Lights.

2.3.7 Systems and Components:2.3.7.1 The pumping unit and controller shall be in a separate machine room. The

controller and pump unit shall be pre-wired and tested prior to shipment. Pump unit shall incorporate the following features.

2.3.7.1.1 Smooth stops at each landing.2.3.7.1.2 Submersible pump and motor.2.3.7.1.3 Adjustable pressure relief valve.2.3.7.1.4 Manually operable down valve to lower lift in the event of an emergency.

This valve shall be activated from the machine room.2.3.7.1.5 Pressure gauge isolating valve, manually operable.2.3.7.1.6 Gate valve to isolate cylinder from pump unit in the hydraulic tank.2.3.7.1.7 Electro Proportional valve for accurate and smooth starts and stops in both

directions.2.3.7.1.8 Emergency lowering by battery power, from the car control.

2.3.7.2 The cylinder shall be constructed of steel pipe of sufficient thickness and suitable safety margin. The top of the cylinder shall be equipped with a cylinder head with an internal guide ring and self-adjusting packing.

2.3.7.3 The plunger shall be constructed of a solid steel shaft of proper diameter machined true and smooth. The plunger shall be provided with a stop electrically welded to the bottom to prevent the plunger from leaving the cylinder.

2.3.7.4 Cable: Aircraft Cable 2 X 3/8 inch (10 mm) DIA. Minimum breaking strength of 12,000 lb (5455 kg) each.

2.3.7.5 Leveling Device: The lift shall be provided with an anti-creep device which will maintain the carriage level within 1/2 inch (13 mm) at each landing. All limit switches and leveling device switches shall be located in a position to be inaccessible to unauthorized persons. Micro-switches shall not be used.

2.3.7.6 Guide Yoke: The 1:2 guide yoke/sheave arrangement shall be supplied with a sheave, guide shoes and cable guards. The sheave shall be finished with rounded grooves to fit the cables.

2.3.7.7 Guide Rail and Brackets: Steel 8 lb/ft (11.9 kg/m) "T" guide rails and brackets shall be securely fastened to the building structure. Car sling shall be fabricated from steel members with adequate bracing to support the platform and cab.

2.3.7.8 Wiring and electrical connections shall comply with applicable codes. Insulated wiring shall have flame-retardant and moisture-proof outer covering and shall be run in conduit or electrical wireway if located outside the unit enclosure. Quick disconnect harnesses shall be used when possible.

2.3.7.9 The door locks shall be a CSA and UL approved electrical mechanical elevator interlock.

2.3.8 Emergency Devices:2.3.8.1 Terminal limits. Stops the elevator if it overruns the normal limits at the top or

bottom landing.2.3.8.2 Final limits. A redundant safety feature if the elevator overruns the terminal limits

at the top or bottom, the final limit stops the elevator and renders all automatic controls inoperable. If this happens, the elevator must be serviced to determine and correct the fault.

2.3.8.3 Pit switch. Disables elevator for servicing purposes.2.3.8.4 Interlocks. Hoistway doors remain locked when the car is not at that floor and

prevent the elevator from running until all doors are closed and locked.2.3.8.5 Slack/broken cable safety device. In the unlikely event that drive cable would

slacken or break, the device locks the car onto the T-rails, preventing the car from falling.

2.3.8.6 Pump run timer for low oil protection

2.4 RESIDENTIAL ELEVATOR

2.4.1 Residential Elevator: Savaria Eclipse.

2.4.2 Equipment: Provide equipment, incidental material and labor required for complete, operable hydraulic elevator installation. The elevators shall be erected, installed, adjusted, tested and placed in operation by the elevator system manufacturer or manufacturer's authorized installer.

2.4.3 Performance: The elevator shall be designed and tested in accordance with ASME A17.1 part V. The testing shall consist of loading the platform to rated capacity for several cycles to insure proper operation. Mechanical failures and defects shall be corrected.

2.4.8 Emergency Devices:2.4.8.1 Terminal limits. Stops the elevator if it overruns the normal limits at the top or

bottom landing.2.4.8.2 Final limits. A redundant safety feature if the elevator overruns the terminal limits

at the top or bottom, the final limit stops the elevator and renders all automatic controls inoperable. If this happens, the elevator must be serviced to determine and correct the fault.

2.4.8.3 Pit switch. Disables elevator for servicing purposes.2.4.8.4 Interlocks. Hoistway doors remain locked when the car is not at that floor and

2.7.17 Car Sling: Car sling shall be fabricated from steel tubing 44 inches (1116 mm) high with adequate bracing to support the platform and car enclosure. Roller guide shoes shall be mounted on the top and bottom of the car sling to engage the guide rails. Guide shoes shall be roller type with 3 inches (76 mm) diameter wheels. Nylon guide shoes shall not be used for better ride quality and durability.

2.11.8.2 Digital floor indicator and directional indicator in cab and at each landing.2.11.8.3 An ADA hands free phone will be supplied within car operating panel.2.11.8.4 Emergency Operation - The car shall be equipped with a battery operated light

fixture, emergency battery lowering device and alarm in case of normal building supply failure. The battery shall be the rechargeable type with an automatic recharging system. A manual lowering device shall be located outside the hoistway in the machine room.

2.11.9 Pumping Unit and Controller:2.11.9.1 The pumping unit and controller shall be in a separate machine room. The

controller and pump unit shall be pre-wired and tested prior to shipment. Pump unit shall incorporate the following features:

2.11.9.1.1 Smooth stops at each landing.2.11.9.1.2 Submersible pump and motor.2.11.9.1.3 Adjustable pressure relief valve.2.11.9.1.4 Manually operable down valve to lower lift in the event of an emergency.

This valve shall be activated from the machine room.2.11.9.1.5 Gate valve to isolate cylinder from pump unit.2.11.9.1.6 Emergency lowering by battery power from the car control

2.11.10 Cylinder And Plunger:2.11.10.1 The cylinder shall be constructed of steel pipe of sufficient thickness and suitable

safety margin. The top of the cylinder shall be equipped with a cylinder head with an internal guide ring and self-adjusting packing.

2.11.10.2 The plunger shall be constructed of a solid steel shaft of proper diameter machined true and smooth. The plunger shall be provided with a stop electrically welded to the bottom to prevent the plunger from leaving the cylinder

2.11.10.3 Cable: Aircraft Cable 2 X 3/8'' (10 mm) DIA. Minimum breaking strength of 12,000 lb (5455 kg) each.

2.11.11 Leveling Device:2.11.11.1 The lift shall be provided with an anti-creep device which will maintain the

carriage level within 1/2 inch (12 mm) of each landing.2.11.11.2 All limit switch and leveling device switches shall be located in a position to be

inaccessible to unauthorized persons.

2.11.12 Guide Yoke: The 2:1 guide yoke assembly shall be supplied with one (1) sheave, guide shoes, bearings and guards.

2.11.13 Terminal Stopping Devices: Normal terminal stopping devices shall be provided at top and bottom of runway to stop the car positively and automatically.

2.11.14 Guide Rails and Brackets: Steel 8 lb per ft guide rails and adjustable brackets shall be used to guide the platform and sling.

2.11.15 Wiring: All wiring and electrical connections shall comply with applicable codes. Insulated wiring shall have flame-retardant and moisture-proof outer covering and shall be run in conduit or electrical wire ways if located outside the unit enclosure. Quick disconnect harnesses shall be used when possible.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

3.1.1 Do not begin installation until hoistway and machine room has been properly prepared.

3.1.2 Site dimensions shall be taken to verify that tolerances and clearances have been maintained and meet local regulations.

3.1.3 If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

3.2.1 Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

3.2.2 Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 ELEVATOR INSTALLATION

3.3.1 Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.3.2 Install the components of the elevator system that are required and that are required by jurisdictional authorities to license the elevator.

3.3.3 Trained employees of the elevator contractor shall perform installation work.

3.3.4 Adjust elevator for proper operation and clean unit thoroughly.

3.3.5 Instruct users in operating procedures and owner's maintenance person in trouble-shooting and maintenance procedures.

3.4 LIFT INSTALLATION

3.4.1 Install all the components of the lift system that are specified in this section to be provided, and that are required by jurisdictional authorities to license the lift.

3.4.2 Trained employees of the lift contractor shall perform all installation work of this section.

3.4.3 Adjust lift for proper operation and clean unit thoroughly.

3.4.4 Instruct users in operation procedures and Owner's maintenance person in trouble-shooting and maintenance procedures.

3.5 PROTECTION

3.5.1 Protect installed products until completion of project.

3.5.2 Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
